Has anyone read it?

Only part of it. I hated this book and barely forced myself to read it because it was for school. I will never reread this book.

I had tried to watch the film many years ago, but could not finish it. However, when Stephen King's Hearts In Atlantis came out there were many references to the this book so I decided to give the book a try. I really enjoyed reading it. A nice study of how the will to survive clashes with our civilized morals. I got the movie to watch again after reading the book and managed to finish it this time.

Poor Piggy.

Yes, I was sad when Piggy died. I need to find a copy of the movie to finish watching it. We had to watch a severly edited version of it in History class to relate it to goverment and politics.

I wish I had a teacher who would have let us watch a movie like that to relate to government and politics.

I don't remember the politics of the book, but I really enjoyed the story. I just remember reading it at about 14 and being shocked by these little english boys. I wanted the mean boy to die, not piggy. This book was my first encounter with "survival."

I absolutely love The Lord of the Flies. It depicts British literature so well. I still stands to be a favorite on my lists. ^^

I read it for ninth grade English class, and I loved it. A wonderful classic.

Let me see if I remember that chant correctly... "Kill the pig! Slit her throat! Bash her head!"

Is that right?

Who hasn't read it?

My friend worships this book. She got it out of the library every week last year. I didn't finish, but I've seen two versions of it in cinema.

Really? I was unaware that there was a second version that had been adapted to film.

I liked this book, except I thought it was confusingly worded at times, making it difficult to understand. It annoyed me to no end how Golding almost never put "said NAME" in the book.

crying My english teacher wouldn't let s watch the movie.

I think the last part is "Bash her in!", but I'm not sure... confused

I had to read it for school. Only them did I realize I owned it but it had a pile of dust on it. I could have finnished it off in an hour but I had to endure it for 4 months with Lit. Circles. xp

I loathed this book personally. I do, however, admit that entertainment is not the only reason to read the book so I therefore wouldn't bash it on that point. What really made it bad was that I was either compared or assigned to be like Simon (I can't remember which) and I sat on either side to the two people who were compared to the main antagonist.
