EARLY CHILDHOOD

Peggy was the third child of Aldrick and Lizzie Knapp, and like her older siblings, she grew up in a home filled with magic, adventure, and love. Peggy had the best of both worlds: the fiery spirit and emotional guardedness inherited from her mother, Lizzie, and the intelligence, competitive streak, and sense of responsibility passed down from her father, Aldrick. From a young age, she could see how different her parents were, and learned quickly to adapt—taking the adventurous energy of her mother while respecting the strong work ethic and ambition of her father.

Though Aldrick was often away on cursebreaking expeditions and later teaching at Hogwarts, Peggy adored him. She grew up with a sense of high standards and often felt the pressure to prove herself as capable as he was. Meanwhile, Lizzie’s spontaneous, unpredictable energy shaped Peggy’s social inclinations. Peggy spent much of her younger years running around the house, getting into trouble with her siblings and occasionally crossing paths with her older cousin, Irmak. Though Irmak was often more serious and thoughtful, Peggy found a deep sense of camaraderie with her, especially in their shared love of magical knowledge. They may have clashed in their personalities at times, but she always saw Irmak as a steady presence in her life, and she became someone she could rely on. "Irmak is my bestie," she’d declare to anyone who’d listen.

The Knapp family was full of love, but there were also underlying tensions. Both her mother and father had their struggles, which shaped Peggy’s growing sense of independence. She learned early that to get attention or recognition, she had to make herself stand out. And Peggy had no problem with that—whether it was being the center of attention with her flirtatious antics or pushing her academic boundaries to prove her worth. As much as she admired her father’s accomplishments, she couldn’t help but feel that the distance between Aldrick and Lizzie left her emotionally on her own at times.
But Peggy was always resourceful, and she was determined to carve her space in the world.

When the Knapp family was sent to America, Peggy couldn’t have been more displeased. She hated the idea of leaving her friends behind—her entire social circle, her comforts—just to follow Grandpa across the ocean. At that age, the idea of being separated from her school and friends seemed like a punishment. She often complained to her siblings about how much she hated the move, especially when she felt like the adults around her didn’t get it. She missed everything she had in Godric’s Hollow.

Everything changed when Aldrick and Lizzie approached Peggy with the proposition of moving back to Godric’s Hollow. They explained that they wanted her to be closer to family and attend Hogwarts, where she could reunite with Irmak and Henrick and other second cousins. At the time, Peggy couldn’t believe her luck. Finally, she would be back home, and this time, it would be different.

She was thrilled to return and couldn’t wait to see Irmak again. She even thought, for a brief moment, that Irmak would be excited to have her at Hogwarts with her. She imagined all the fun they’d have, their shared adventures, and the way they would navigate their academic lives together.

However, what Peggy didn’t see—and couldn't see—was that Irmak wasn’t quite as thrilled to have her around as she was to return to her. Though she never outwardly distanced herself in front of her, there was an undeniable coldness and disinterest in her eyes when it came to Peggy’s antics and playful behavior. But Peggy, ever the optimist and wrapped up in her own excitement, was blind to it all. She assumed Irmak was simply as thrilled to have her back as she was to be back. She didn’t pick up on the subtle signs of reluctance or the quiet disapproval she sometimes showed. All she saw was the cousin she had always known, and she was determined to have fun with her.

For Peggy, their reunion was just another adventure, another chance to prove how much fun they could have together. For Peggy, she was thrilled just at the chance to go to Hogwarts this year and see her cousins and second cousins, and best of all - grandpa.
