It was cold. If he were smarter, Nagyagite would be back in Negaspace, curled up under something warm and pretending that he didn't have any responsibilities. Unfortunately, he was clearly not smart, because he was out in the middle of the night, cold, and failing at finding anyone to drain from.

Was he annoyed? Yes. Was that probably why when he finally found someone, he'd drained them straight to unconsciousness and deposited them in the snow? Absolutely. He nudged the unconscious form at his feet and sighed, shrugging his shoulders.

"Sorry," he said, "not your night." As if the poor dude--or anyone else--could hear him.

“Not yours, either.”

Riker had been meandering through the streets on his way-- home? Not home? He hadn’t decided. He knew he was more than welcome at Evan’s house. And that Julian would happily let him stay with him. Cassidy was another viable option. And if all else failed there was Elliot. He supposed Maisie or Dawn, too. But then he’d have to pretend that he was gay so their parents wouldn’t be weird about having a boy over.

Which he wasn’t. Gay.

Maybe.

It was complicated and he was working things out, and right now wasn’t the time to be thinking about things like that. Not when he heard the scuffle of someone collapsing to the ground, and a glimpse of some scary looking dude in a uniform. He was dangerously close to being seen.

Against his better judgement, instead of running, Reims powered up soon after he heard the man utter his pisspoor apology.

Powered up, and immediately launched himself towards the Chaotic energy with a swing of his sword. And the burst of light and glass that went with it.

Quote:
When Reims channels his magic, the lust for battle courses through him and his strength is increased, allowing him to hit twice as hard as he normally would. Every time his weapon makes contact, there is an extravagant burst of colorful light from his weapon, as if catching and shattering light even without a light source. The colorful light manifests into glass shards, always directed at his target. There are never more than three at a time, and no larger than his palm, that causes the sensation of moderate to severe lacerations. Players can choose to take lasting damage. His magic pool lasts for 45 seconds.

Nagyagite had about enough time to think Ah, s**t, between feeling the sudden blip of a Knight aura, turning towards it, and getting hit by a burst of light and what felt like shards of glass flying into him. He staggered backward, left hand coming up to grip his right upper arm, and--yes, there was definitely blood there. Whatever he'd been hit with, it was real enough to cut.

"No, it's really not," Nagyagite acknowledged. This person--this kid, that was a very baby face under that very fancy hat--was pretty on-the-aggressive, and also definitely stronger than him, which meant Nagyagite didn't exactly have a lot of options if he didn't want to get kicked around.

Fortunately, he did have a pretty good one. That little trick of his voice. One of the only good things becoming half-youma had given him.

"But you don't really want to pick a fight, do you?" He asked, focusing on making his voice as calm and soothing as possible--difficult, when he was bleeding from this kids attack, but probably necessary if he didn't want worse. "I know I don't even want to be here, but it's my job, so here we are. Why not lower that sword and we can both walk away? It's just a little energy, my guy will be fine after a quick nap."

In the cold. But whatever, that wasn't Nagyagite's problem as long as he could get himself out of this.

Quote:
Hypnotic Voice: Nagyágite can make his voice very calming and soothing, making an opponent want to follow his orders (as long as those orders would not lead to death or an identity reveal, unless otherwise plotted). This mild hypnosis lasts for 30 seconds and can be used once per battle.

There were a few moments in which Reims stared at the strange man with complete confusion, and he propped his sword up like an oversized bat just in case he needed to defend himself from retaliation.

He didn’t really want to pick a fight?? Why would this guy assume that?? He didn’t know him at all! He was-- he was there for a job, and wanted to walk away.

What a strange thing to say.

And what was even stranger was that Reims actually felt himself lowering his sword. Why?

He gave the youma-man a skeptical, disbelieving look when he said the civilian was just going to take a quick nap. That didn’t look like he was going to have a quick nap.

“Why drain them until there’s nothing left? You know if you actually make sure people live long and healthy lives, they’ll be a much better source of energy,” he pointed out, like it was obvious. Seriously, if he was in the Negaverse (not that he wanted to be), he would have figured things out so much faster than everyone else, apparently.

Nagyagite relaxed, a little. It was always good when his little trick worked, and getting his a** more fully kicked by someone stronger than him was not on his to-do list tonight.

He nudged the unconscious body at his feet with the toe of his boot, and sighed.

"Look, you're not wrong, but I also don't want to be out here longer than I have to and I have had a s**t week, and unfortunately this poor b*****d was in the wrong place at the wrong time." It wasn't a great excuse. Nagyagite was pretty sure it wasn't going to get him much of anywhere. "Also, strictly speaking, he's not all the way dead. Yet."

Ahh, technicalities.
