Kimiru had gathered all the dragons together, hers and Ender's Thunder were fidgeting, waiting for whatever Kimiru had to say but the dragonlord purposefully kept them waiting before slowly climbing to the high point at the gathering area in the middle of their territory. "Dragons and Dragonfriends, Today marks the beginning of a new year, as a Thunder i know we are young, and few but that is quite alright." she paused, looking about "I have long marked the new year as a time for new beginnings but today I am not alone, YOU are not alone, we are one Thunder and we shall celebrate OUR beginning as lords of the land, sea and sky!" she looked to Ender with a smile. "We have casks, stolen from the twolegged and fourlegged, brought to us as tribute from some that wished to join us" she acknowledged the newer dragons in the crowd with a nod "To celebrate, let us drink!" she called and nodded again to the new dragons who had brought the casks, who opened them, dipping cups into the liquid, passing them around. Kimiru smiled at the scene "TO THE NEW YEAR" she roared, raising herself on her hind legs, wings fanning out on either side of her, making her appear larger than she was, not that she was a small female by any means. Ender wasn't really a very vocal dragon. At least not for words. He preferred to communicate in grunts, growls, hissing, bellowing and of course, physical combat. Still, as his mate spoke, he remained calm and by her side, still towering over her despite herself being a rather large dragon. As she spoke, he watched the small and growing Thunder and the few faces that greeted him. He did his best to wait patiently as Kimiru finished, roaring to the new year as glasses were passed around for drink and enjoyment. He didn't crab any himself, not that his large clumsy claws could hold one comfortably anyways. Instead he turned towards Kimiru and grunted at her, a soft grunt, one that would be familiar to her. One that sort of asked if she was both finished and if she had anything else to say. He got the feeling they weren't quite done here, despite the fact that he'd rather go tear into something right now. (164w)

Kimiru turned to Ender when he grunted at her, she'd long learned his ways and knew he wasn't likely to add to her speech but having him by her side made her heart swell with love and more importantly, Pride, to have someone as strong and powerful as her mate, of course she could easily lead the Thunder by herself but she relied on Ender to be able to do the things she couldn't, and she to do what Ender couldn't, they complimented each other, enough that together they were complete. "I'm done with my speech dear" she said, her voice as always, a low rumble "I do have something to discuss with you but .. later, let us enjoy some time among our dragons, get to know them a little" she suggested before stepping down off her high spot, moving down to the crowd and the rocks that held the food gathered. She stopped by the pile of prey and sniffed, her nose wrinkling "Oh dear... it seems the smell of rabbit makes me feel sick" she muttered. "Ender dear, could you fetch me something else?" she asked, backing away from the meat. She was offered a drink from the casks and she accepted but one sniff and her purple scales almost turned green "No thank you" she said, passing the cup back to the earth dragon that had given it to her before scurrying off to a quiet corner and throwing up. "not fun" she muttered. (247 words)

Ender followed her towards the pile, watching her. He couldn't recall a moment when rabbit ever made her sick but he wasn't really the quickest witted dragon. He had his moods where certain foods where just too much, maybe she was having one of those days. Shrugging it off, he reached over to gently (which for him was still a bit of a rough head bonk) nuzzle her then set off, spreading his wings and taking flight. It wasn't too terribly long when he returned with fresh kill, a few plump options for Kimiru. No rabbits, but some other smaller critters and a young mountain lion cub. He quickly found her radiant form in the crowd and landed a short distance away, his loud descent clearly announcing his arrival. He set the catches down in front of her, grunting as he gestured towards them. "Eat." he said, not picking something out for himself until she had her pick. She was the only dragon he let eat before him. (168w)

Kimiru had leaned into Ender's headbutt before he had flown off, and now, stomach empty, she wished for him to be near, not just for the food she knew he would provide either. She had never been a lovey dovey sort of mare, she was a proud Dragon, but she had found herself needing the phsyical contact of him just being there close to her. Now her stomach had voided it's contents, she found herself ravenous by the time Ender finally found her again, somewhat smug at the dragons around that scattered to let the Dragonlord land. Despite her hunger, she picked at what he had brought for her before pouncing on the mountain lion "Thank you love" she said, before digging in. Once her belly was full, she leaned her head against his chest. "Ender love, i need to tell you something" she said with a smile. "our Thunder is growing again" she informed him. (156 words)

To say he had noticed that she seemed to want his attention more... well that might have been more clear to anyone else than to Ender. He was running off instincts at this point, not really questioning why he felt the need to be more attentive to her or why she just somehow radiated differently. She was his Queen and he had sworn himself to her time and time again. This phase in life was no different. He waited for her to pick her meal and finish it before he picked a small creature carcass for himself, making swift work of it. The lick and chomp of his heavy jaws could be easily heard and it even caused a few other dragons to step back momentarily. While most of the other Thunder members knew he wasn't going to harm them, some of the newer ones still had things to learn. Especially the small green one. She was fiery on her own right but the annoying cat that brought her to them and insisted on hanging around annoyed him to no end. He was lost in thought of how to rip that cat to shreds when Kimiru spoke again and he glanced at her. Growing, again? He looked around, half expecting to see the cat with more smaller dragons, but he saw no new dragons. At least not yet. Tilting his head, he glanced at her. "Explain." he said, gesturing with his muzzle as if to indicate he saw no new members. (251 w)

Kimi realised she should have known better than to be subtle when Ender looked around confused. "Well dear, if you recall we had that... private ... celebration a while ago?" she asked him with a smile, waiting as he licked his chops clean from his meal. "Well, it seems i am expecting" she beamed at him, waiting to see his answer. She mused while she waited, she definitely wanted more mountain lions for dinner, it didn't sit heavy on her stomach like most of their regular prey and it was ALMOST like eating that stupid cat beast that hung around, they begrudgingly had a sort of truce with him though as he HAD brought them another dragon. She was expecting. Ender blinked at Kimiru then looked around. He wasn't quite sure what she was referring too about private celebration. Again this big beast of a dragon was more fueled on instincts and drive than wit at times. That's what he had Kimi for. She made the hard decisions, he made the easy ones and the most of the physical jobs. Not to say he was completely stupid but, well. Subtle things like this weren't his forte. "Expecting what." he repeated, glancing around and looking for any other dragons to be arriving. Had he missed some memo that even more members were joining the Thunder? (107 w)

Kimiru sighed, she knew Ender took a while to catch on to things but she had rather hoped he'd know what she mean. "Not out there dear" she said, gesturing to the crowd of dragons, who'd gotten rowdy but were now starting to feel the later effects of the drinks they'd had and were starting to disperse and head to their dens or lairs or nests. "I mean, i am expecting babies my dear Ender... we are going to be parents" she stood proudly, the Dragonlords being the first to bear children was very fitting, especially given how rare it was for her to have those moments of passion. She knew Ender had a larger drive than she and had honestly expected one of his consorts to have been the first. She stood, waiting for him to understand what she was telling him and react. Now it finally hit him and Ender was following. She had meant that certain moment, and t hat kind of expecting. Something swelled in him, perhaps pride with a small mix of eagerness and excitement. He leaned forward and head butted Kimiru, trying not to be harsh but in his primitive excitement, well, it was kind of harder than he intended. His wings flared and he let out a rather impressive bellow before he circled her, now sticking to her side protectively. "Our...spawn." he said softly to her, leaning in closer, now much more gentle, as if she were so delicate, even breathing on her would break her. (108w)

There was the click, the light of realisation in his eye. She hadn't braced herself for sudden affection though and slightly wobbled as he headbutted her as gently as he could, and it was her shoulder so she wasn't too worried. She just had to plant her feet a little better if he was going to show this affection more often. She laughed as he bellowed, then circled her, "yes, our own little dragonets" she spoke softly, smiling as some of the others nearby had paused to stare at Ender because of his bellow. "Now is as good a time as any to announce it" she said to him, bumping him with her head, rather hard, to show she wasn't some frail creature, merely one bringing new life into the world. "I SAY TO YOU ALL NOW" she roared to the gathered dragons, not from her high perch but from among them, one of them. "TODAY WE NOT ONLY WELCOME THE NEW YEAR AND NEW ARRIVALS, WE WELCOME NEW BEGINNINGS, TODAY WE CELEBRATE NEW LIFE" she paused while the Thunder chattered among themselves "YOUR DRAGONLORDS ARE EXPECTING, WE ARE THE BEARERS OF OUR THUNDER'S FIRST BROOD.... THE FIRST OF MANY I HOPE" and she laughed, dancing in place, something the normally prideful Kimiru never did, "anything else to add my love?" she asked him, if he didn't then together they would head for the den most likely. Ender simply shook his head as he curled a wing around Kimiru. He knew she wasn't weak but this was his mate, carrying his spawn and he was going to do everything in his power to protect her and however many dragonlets she was carrying. As she announced to the Thunder and the others joined in in their celebrations, Ender took in a deep breath and let out another loud roar, this time for anyone around to hear, especially that darn cat. He was daring others to come mess with his herd, his Thunder, especially now that Kimi and he had children on the way. His furiosity was amped up and he was letting anyone and everyone know one thing. Mess with his herd in this new year he'd not hold back on decimating them.
