Vesuvianite stretched and yawned as he lurked in the alley, keeping an eye out for unwitting civilians. They really needed to find someone and get some energy. The Negaverse was always in need, and they were a captain now—they couldn't slack. They needed to keep forging ahead. If they were lucky, they would eventually get the promotion to general, which would be a dream come true. the longer Vesuvianite spent as a Negaverse officer, the more they understood the cause. The things they'd seen, heard, even just read up on in the files available to them—there was so much they needed to do to protect Earth from hostile forces. It was almost ridiculous how endless it seemed. Luckily, the Negaverse seemed pretty powerful. They were holding their own against these invasive forces. So, Vesuvianite couldn't slack. Not when so much was at risk.
They finally spotted a person who seemed full of energy this evening—and also alone as she skipped along, humming to herself, and generally clearly in a good mood. Excellent. That meant they could take more from her than the average person. Some people just had... such nice wells of energy within them. Lip curling into a smirk, they waited for the perfect moment, then grabbed the girl by her arm and hauled her into the alleyway, draining her energy just out of sight.
"Shh, it's okay," they soothed as the girl started to struggle for the briefest of moments, then slumped. It didn't really matter to say these kinds of things, given the memory issues it would cause, but it made them feel better anyway.

Karakorum was supposed to be behaving. "Behaving" here having the meaning of "staying where she was supposed to wait for Shuangxu to show up as Lanting so they could do Knight stuff in a pair and be safe about it or whatever." That was a super reasonable ask from her brother, so much so that she hadn't even whined about it when he proposed the idea. Especially because there was the promise of Delicious Belial Cooking after they were done. Karakorum had not thought of herself as particularly food motivated, but then, most of her life had been bereft of Belial Kilmeister's ridiculously good food, so she could be forgiven for having not known this thing about herself before.
Anyway, really, she'd meant to behave. But she was tucked away, and she watched some Nega creep grab a girl and drag her into an alley, and--nope. No ******** way. No actual way was she going to stand around and let whatever nasty nefarious s**t was going on continue to occur. Shuangxu could lecture her later.
She bolted forward, ducking into the alley herself and gripping her weapon betwene her hands like that made it more intimidating than a strand of ivy.
"Hey! You! Creepasaurus rex! Let go of her before I kick your a** into next ******** week!"

Vesuvianite paused in their talking to the girl, blinking owlishly up at the intruding Page in some confusion as they continued to drain the girl in his arms. "Creep?" they repeated as he blinked again. "I'm not— ew." They put as much forceful disgust as they could into that word. "I'm not hurting her," they continued scornfully. "I'm just taking some of her excess energy—what exactly did you think was going on, you nasty-minded page?"

Ohhhh, Karakorum was really going to enjoy this fight. Like, honestly, just the fact that this weirdo was acting so ******** self-righteous about what they assumed she assumed was going on--come the ******** on.
"I don't need to be nasty-minded to know nobody drags some poor girl into an alley against her will for good reasons," she said, and she stalked forward, like she was on the hunt. Appropriate, maybe--that was what Belial said her Princess's sphere was.
Maybe that was how she had to think.
Maybe she wasn't good at that, but she could at least try to be intimidating.
"Whether you're draining her energy like some kind of ******** up vampire or doing something way nastier--either way, you're hurting an innocent person. And I'm not just gonna let that happen. So let her go, and maybe I'll let you off lightly."
She really, really hoped the officer in front of her didn't decide to escalate things and hurt the poor girl worse. That would really, really suck.

Vesuvianite snorted. So it would be a fight, then. Carefully, they lowered the girl to the ground, still draining as they did so, just enough that the girl would be dazed and confused for hopefully long enough that Vesuvianite could chase this annoying Page off. "I wish I was as cool as a real vampire," they said. "I'd have an excuse to never be in the sun. And for my red eyes." They cracked their knuckles and pulled out their sickle, grinning wickedly. "Come on, little Page," they crooned. "Or are you all talk and no bite?"

Okay, good. The girl was out of the way and relatively safe. There would be no weird shenanigans with the hand-in-chest magic that Shuangxu had mentioned Negaverse assholes could do, where they reached into you and pulled out the solid embodiment of your soul and then you died because a body can't live like that.
The sickle they pulled out....way less fun looking, but that would totally be fine. She jsut needed to hold on long enough for Lanting to get here, and then her big brother would totally kick some a**. And hopefully she didn't pick up a gnarly injury in the meantime.
"You wanna dance? Let's dance." She let go of her weapon with one hand, and leapt forward, swinging her fist at their face with zero hesitation.

Vesuvianite snorted. Dance? Let's dance? What did this silly page think this was, some kind of superhero movie? Was she Captain America come to beat up one of those... HYDRO agents? Blech. What a lame a** thing to say. They dodged the very telegraphed punch and lifted their sickle in the same movement, swinging it to intercept the page's hand and hopefully not cut it off, just injure—they didn't actually want to hurt someone on a lower power level than them. They had principles, thank you. They'd hoped the sickle would scare her off, but clearly not.

Karakorum yelped when the sickle came at her arm, and she jerked out of the punch, stumbling backwards and nearly tripping over her cute little heels. ******** ******** ********, that was really scary--that was definitely a very real weapon, and she did not have anything that could compete with that. She had a sprig of ivy, for ******** sake, what was she supposed to do?
So, she did the thing that seemed smartest, right then.
"Gege, HELP," she shouted, like it would magically summon Lanting to do the asskicking for her.Very luckily for Karakorum, Lanting was indeed nearby--namely, at the meeting spot and looking for her when he heard her scream.
"Dammit, meimie," he grumbled under his breath. That was definitely the sound of A-Hua having gotten herself into something that she was not ready for, but at least she was close.
So he ran, ducked aorund the entrance of the alley, and there she was, facing off against a Captian.
"We're gonna talk about this," he warned his sister as he brought up his cane. "Hey, you! Nega-trash! Parry this, you filthy casual!"
He swung his cane, firing off his Forgotten Spell right at the Nega's chest.Quote: Lanting swings his weapon at a single target within 20 feet of him. From the end of his weapon, a bundle of leaves and orchid petals flies at the target, and when it impacts, it bursts into a brief swirl of sharp-edged petals and leaves around the target. The target will experience the sensation of many small cuts where the petals and leaves make contact, with actual damage at player discretion. This can be used 3 times per battle.

Good. The girl had stumbled back once she realized the weapon was very real and much better than her... what, plant leaves? Poor Pages, really, they thought to themselves. They didn't know what a "gege" was, but they were feeling like they should start moving away—but before they could do more than back up a couple of steps, some guy appeared at the end of the alley like the Page had cast some kind of summoning spell. "Oh, ******** off," they snapped, then hissed in pain as the actual spell took hold, slicing at their clothes and skin. "I didn't even hurt her!" They scowled at the Squire through the swirling petals and leaves. "And I wasn't planning to," they added, briefly wondering if the spell would follow them if they teleported away—guess they'd find out in a moment. With a quick, deep breath, they disappeared to a nearby rootop, just to get away. They doubted the pair would follow them.
