Quote: Sweet Treats (5) : There’s no shortage of holiday themed popup shops and specials at your local places, and after a long day there’s nothing better than a nice treat for yourself. Maybe you decided to try something new, maybe it was a gift, maybe you got one of the coupons in the mail to try the place out–however you wound up with this drink, you’re in for a good time. No matter what your preferences are, the drink is delicious. Hot, cold, sweet, bitter–there’s a version of it for everyone. But, the flavor isn’t what makes the drink so special–it’s how good it makes you feel. There’s no alcohol in it, but drinking it can leave someone feeling tipsy, warm, and in a general good mood. Inhibitions aren’t lowered and there’s no negative repercussions for having the drink; it might make children more hyper, but the drink just has the ability to put someone in a pleasant mood. Sailor Alastor had been in a good mood all day but that was hardly saying much considering all he had to be grateful for. Things had fallen into place quite spectacularly and he'd seen enough strife that he knew better than to look a gift horse in the mouth. He'd started his day early and spent breakfast with his family, but they had somewhat deviating paths after that point in time. There was a lot to be done during the holiday season, and a great deal of secrecy went into the preparation.
Devyn had no shortage of gifts to give so he was perhaps unfairly advantaged in such regards. He had neither school nor work to demand his time. When left to his own devices, he'd visited not one but two galleries. The first was new to him, but he'd made a habit of visiting what new exhibitions he could, even if he didn't understand what he was looking at. The second was known to him; he visited Percy's gallery. Though there was a rotating display of art, a few of his favorites hung permanently, and he liked to visit them when he was feeling homesick.
A group of teenagers were doing an art study based on one of Percy's pieces, but such things were not uncommon and Devyn had come to know a few faces. He made sure they had what they needed, and he was always glad to see their interpretation of Percy's masterpieces. He encouraged them, like Percy would want.
Percy's spirit lived on in that way. Devyn stayed until they finished, and though he was no artist he was still keen to give his praise and feedback. The rest of his day had been spent running errands or making up his own chores. Three jogs through the park and he still had energy to spare. But maybe it was because he'd found a cute little shop with a menu full of drinks he couldn't get enough of. He'd visited four times today, and each time gotten a different drink. He'd only finished the most recent one half an hour ago and already he had enough energy to go around the park again.
It wasn't yet time to head home--soon! But not yet, so he was trying to keep himself busy and burn off a bit more energy so he didn't bounce off the walls after everyone convened after their long days.
Naturally, he gravitated towards the nearest order signature he found as he made his way through the park. It wasn't so late that he was surprised a Senshi was out.
"Hello," he said, and raised a hand in greeting. It was cold enough outside that he could see his breath, but by boon of his uniform or it being just his natural state, he didn't seem the slightest bit chilled. He carried himself like it might have been a pleasant spring night. The somewhat fresh-fallen snow crunched with each step, and he was walking just off the side walk as if he had deliberately chosen to take that path instead of the easier one with the sidewalk. "Good evening. It's nice to see someone else out, are you having a slow night, too?"

Tea had thankfully finished her shopping, and well she just worked in the fabric shop and then people watched during the busiest part of the year her family continued to grow smaller each year it seemed and just left with her occasional sad moment that she didn't have all her sisters or her brother to shop for.
She'd opted to go get a drink at the newest shop since she'd gotten a flyer in the mail, thinking that today was a good day for something nice and warm. She'd gotten a hot chocolate with all the toppings they offered and had found a place to perch on a bench while sipping on the drink.
She liked the drink hot but not so hot it burned her mouth when she sipped it so by the time Alastor had found her, the drink was maybe luke warm and she was sipping on it watching the occasional snow flake fall or critter pass.
She looked up when she felt an order aura approach her. "Hello~" She called cheerily and chuckled "Yeah, it does seem rather slow. Maybe it's because of the weather and holidays?" She suggested.

Her enthusiasm was practically contagious, and Alastor felt himself feeling unusually friendly. It wasn’t that he wasn’t usually particularly chatty and quick to strike up conversation so he didn’t really think much of the urge to be social.
“Oh, I suppose that makes sense.”
In its own way. They were someone else’s holidays and he was learning to adapt to them, and weather like this really didn’t do much but demand he get a bit more creative about burning out energy.
Not everyone ran as hot as he was so he didn’t blame them for wanting to stay in.
But she was out, so maybe they had a bit in common.
Well, they were already exchanging words, might as well exchange names, too.
“Sailor Alastor,” he introduced, offering a hand in greeting. He nodded towards her headband. “Those aren't your natural ears, are they?”
Not that he was judging! He was just trying to determine whether or not she was from Earth.

Tea nodded when he said he supposed that made sense. She chuckled, "I do enjoy watching the snow without it being disturbed by a ton of folks."
She grinned when he introduced himself, "Sailor Chibi Tea!" There was a pause when he asked if those were her natural ears, "Ah, sadly they're not. It would be neat if I had ears like that though. But I don't think I know anyone who's got "
She was thinking about the idea of actually having ears like her mouse ears on her head. She tilted her head, "Why do you ask?" She'd only met one senshi she knew of that had scales and wasn't from earth. Could that be why he was asking?

Alastor’s brows lifted slightly when she introduced herself as a Chibi. He gave her a few seconds to correct the title. She didn’t look like a Chibi but sometimes old habits cropped up unexpectedly.
He waited for a clarification that never came, so instead he nodded.
“Ah, I suppose because I’m nosey, sorry. It seems like the easiest way to tell if someone was born on Earth or not but I suppose that is a bit presumptive of me. I like Earth Senshi very much but I do like to pick the brains of the ones born a bit further away. I’ve got a lot of questions,” he said, but didn’t really sound apologetic. “For example, you said Chibi Senshi? How long have you been a Senshi for?”

Tea watched as his brows lifted unsure of why he might've been confused. "Oh it's fine, it is I guess the easiest way? Though I haven't met many that weren't from earth." She admitted.
She pondered what he was saying about earth senshi and ones born further away. Her head tilted when he questioned the chibi part of her title. "Welll.... I've been a senshi for . . . a while." She paused thinking about when she was awoken, "I want to say I was awoken around ten years ago. I'm nineteen now, so I was about nine when a cat woke me."
There was another pause, "I found out there's some sort of ritual I have to do to like graduate or something? Which I didn't know about, plus kind of got busy with school and missing siblings. It all kind of ended up with me stuck as a chibi." Tea finished.
She looked thoughtfully, "How long have you been a senshi for?" She added figuring it fair she ask the same.

Alastor was quiet for a moment, not because he was avoiding the question but because he seemed to be attempting to do some tallying in his head. He planted his hands on his hips and pressed his lips together, tilting his head up towards the sky for a few seconds before he finally shrugged.
“A long time. A few centuries,” he said, a very modest guess. “But I started off as a Chibi Senshi, too. I was a little thing.” Briefly, he held out his arms as if to show off his sleeves, “I used to get caught on anything. I can’t count how many times I tripped over these. I grew out of it eventually but it was a bit of a rough start. I was only a little younger than you at the time, maybe seven or so? I’m not entirely sure how different the Earth calendar is from mine so maybe it’s not so different. I didn’t know you could grow up and still be a Chibi Senshi,” he said honestly, with no shortage of curiosity.
He was visibly interested but didn’t seem to hold any judgment for her state. “My magic stabilized–and got stronger–after I did my ritual. But it used to give me a hard time when I was a Chibi. I heard it was common amongst chibis. Does yours still do that or did you grow out of it?”

Tea was looking at Alastor as he was thinking, it looked as if he kind of got stuck in a math hole. When he said a few centuries she paused and blinked a few times, he didn't look centuries old!
"Ohhh wow that's crazy." She listened interested in the fact he'd started off as a chibi senshi and use to trip over his sleeves which were very impressive. "I think the issue is . . . I didn't know about the ritual and had some issues with family just . . . completely disappearing so I tried to lay low for a while."
She admitted with a sigh and was rubbing the back of her neck. "My magic is still very unpredictable." Tea also admitted. She seemed curious, "I'm trying to figure out what my ritual is but not having much luck. So far I've been on some sort of scavenger hunt that's taking a while to complete because of how far I have to travel and puzzles boxes that need to be solved."

Alastor had been interested before but he was now even more so. He could agree that it was crazy that he was so old, because he both felt it and didn’t. He remembered the ritual he’d had to complete, but what he knew of the whole process meant that his experience wasn’t something to expect everyone should go through.
“Sounds like your world’s giving you the runaround. But don’t give up. There’s a point to it. Even if it doesn't make sense, there’s always a lesson in it. Take your time and don’t rush or you might miss something important. If you get lost, your world will guide you. It wants you to succeed, don’t doubt that. Even if the methods are confusing.”
He was quick to defend his world; he’d had time to establish a very strong relationship with it, and the benefit of being born in a different era meant that he had a different understanding of the way things used to be. He’d come into a lot of things blind, but not this.
“I’m sorry to hear about your family, though. Are you doing alright?”

She chuckled when he said it sounded as if her world was giving her the run around, "Hopefully it'll explain something"
She looked thoughtful, "I mean surely there's a lesson in the amount of puzzle boxes and journey that it seems I've ended up on. Maybe there's some sort of test? But I also wonder, what would come of my magic if it didn't have what seems to be a rigged fail rate."
When he asked if she was doing alright there was a half shrug, "I guess? I mean I've grown up without my only brother, and now the twins have disappeared. I went from five siblings to one. So, I've got to figure out how to not be picked off for lack of a better word when my magic is just support."

Alastor might have chuckled at the thought of her world giving her a hard time–something he knew all too well, but any humor he found was dampened quickly when she mentioned her family.
A somber smile appeared on his face. “I’m sorry to hear about your siblings.”
The downside of a big family meant that there were more to lose.
“Tell me about them, maybe I can keep an eye out for them? I run into a lot of people.”
If someone was missing–here, especially–there probably wasn’t a point to have much hope. For the Senshi of Despair, he made it his duty to keep a surplus of it, just in case.
“You should train with me sometime,” he suggested. “I’ve been around for a while, I’ve got some tricks that might help you. Especially if you can’t rely on your magic.”

Tea nodded when he said he was sorry about her sibblings. "It happens, chaos is all around us here. It's hard to keep from falling I suppose."
Her head tilted a bit when he wanted to know about them, "Well, Victoria was my oldest brother, we lost him to Chaos, my sister Byakko seen it originally when he was taken by them. He was the Senshi of Glory, he always would watch my little pony with me, help me dress up and cosplay."
She paused, "As far as my sisters that were taken, Ingrid and Godiva were twins, Ingrid all three had pink hair, but Godiva dyed hers half purple, and half pink."
There was a soft shrug, "I'm not sure if they're fallen to chaos, Godiva left us a note so they might have but the worst also could have happened."
There was a pause when he offered to let her train with him, "Oh that'd be great, I've been working some on hand to hand combat but I've only made it so far. I'm still a beginner." The chibi senshi chuckled sheepishly.

None of the descriptions sounded familiar, but it was easy enough to commit them to memory. They sounded unique enough that he was sure he’d be able to tell if he crossed paths with any of them.
“That’s okay,” he reassured. “We all start somewhere. I’d be happy to teach you what I know.”
It was getting late now, and Alastor had places to be; undoubtedly, she must have, too.
Scanning each other on the Senshi phones was a quick and painless process and would guarantee that they could meet up again in the future. “I’m pretty good at making time, so let me know when you’re free.”
He’d bring snacks, too.
