EARLY CHILDHOOD Eric Ho-Jun Kim was born in Peterborough England to Jimmi and Ha-eun Kim. He was the youngest of four children, one sister, and two brothers. He was the first child born in England after the family moved from Korea. His father had been offered a job at the Ministry so they’d decided to relocate.

Eric had a rather normal childhood for a wizard, enjoying a good balance between their Korean roots and new English surroundings. When Eric was about four, his oldest sister, Hanna, became the first of their family to attend Hogwarts where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. He couldn’t wait to go to Hogwarts himself. Next, Peter went and was sorted into Slytherin, then Daniel, being sorted into Hufflepuff.

SCHOOL YEARS
No one was surprised when Eric entered Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor. Something about the Kims rounding out the four houses really seemed to make sense. Eric did well in school almost immediately. He was able to easily make friends and only caused a little bit of trouble. This led him to become very popular amongst his peers. He also became involved in just about every activity that existed at Hogwarts, not being one to believe in downtime. For most of his time at Hogwarts, he had no complaints.

In the summer between his sixth and seventh years, his family went to Korea to visit family for a few weeks. Eric, his brothers, and a cousin decided to go out hiking. They weren’t far from their family home and had no reason to suspect anything might be wrong, but things quickly changed. It was starting to get late and Eric managed to get separated from the rest of the group. There was a full moon and at first, he thought he was lucky to have the extra light but once he heard the howling he knew he was in trouble. Before he even had a chance to defend himself, he was being thrown to the ground by a werewolf. The attack was brutal, he was never even able to get to his wand. He had no idea what made the werewolf stop its attack, but almost as quickly as it appeared, it took off back into the woods.

When he was finally found, he was soaked in blood and barely breathing. It was a miracle he’d even survived at all. His wounds were able to be healed, but that left him with what he didn’t want to confront. Lycanthropy. There was no question that he had been infected with the condition and it wasn’t something that would just go away.

He was wary of returning to school come September and even considered dropping out, worried he might be a danger to other students. However, with help from friends and family (and some members of the Werewolf Support Services at the Ministry), he started his seventh year. He was more quiet and distant than he had been before, still afraid of what he was capable of, but by the time he graduated, he was feeling much more comfortable in what was now his new normal.

POST-GRADUATION Upon graduation Eric began working at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. He was good at it but it wasn't long before he realized it was not the right fit for him. However, he had no idea what it was he wanted to do so he stuck it out.

After a few years, he heard about the opening for the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor. He jumped on the idea and though he was admittedly still a bit worried about the whole werewolf thing, but with some reassurance he settled on it and couldn't be more excited.

So far things have been going well. He was almost surprised at how much he loved all the kids he gets to work with and being part of the faculty.
