As the year comes to an end, an abnormal cold snap has taken over Tendaji. The mountains of Zena are covered in a blizzard, and even the desert of Oba is feeling a bit of an abnormal chill.

[ What do you get up to during the cold? Do you find a place to warm up, or check up on a friend? ]

Limbree had been steadily traveling north. She had heard from others that Zena was lovely this time of year. When the trees were coated in snow and the landscape looked pristine beneath the cold crystals. Sauti had been a nice place, a little nostalgic from the first time that she had ‘landed’ here. Traveling with a few others, entertainers they had called themselves. While she was more the tinker and sharpshooter of the group she tried her best to join in. The loud merriment warmed her against the chill that had started to creep over the land.

”The air is crisp this morning.” Limbree commented as she crawled out of her tent and stretched. She was wearing much like she had when she landed in Sauti a couple seasons ago. She shivered against the brisk wind that flowed over the camp from the north. With that wind small flakes of crystal tumbled and twisted.

‘We’re getting closer to the border. The air will get colder the closer we get. I hope you have warmer clothing packed.’ said one of the performers as they exited one of the few wagons. ‘Would hate to see you get frostbite or worse.’

”Oh I’ll be fine! This is a new thrill to me.” Limbree said as she spun around with her arms extended at her side. ”Besides, how cold could it really get? Sure I have heard of the snow and the large wool coated creatures that live there.”

‘You’d be surprised lass, you’d be surprised.’ chuckled a burly Oban man as he too exited one of the wagons. ‘Zena gets as cold as Oba gets hot. Best be sure you have the clothing to accommodate.’

Limbree gave a shooing motion as she turned back to her tent and went back inside. Here she had pulled out most of her tinker's tools. She was still trying to figure out a way to upgrade her crossbow, but it was something she was still having trouble with. Frowning, she put her things away and pulled on a cowl over her shoulders. It had kept her warm so far, but little did she know that it wouldn’t serve that purpose for very long.

”I think that is everything. Now to just tear down and roll everything up.” She nodded to herself. ”Then breakfast, wonder what it will be this morning.” Her stomach growling in response.

Exiting her tent once more, Limbree went about pulling up the stakes that held the fabric to the ground. The last one gave her a little trouble where she was tumbling backwards onto the ground. This roused laughter from those around her before the Oban stepped over.

‘Need a little help there lass?’ he asked, reaching down to help her to her feet.

”This one seems to cling to the ground. It wasn’t this hard to beat the stake into the ground last night.” She frowned looking at the stake. ”But I would love a little help. This time.”

The Oban laughed as he reached down and pulled the thin metal stake from the ground with effortless ease. He handed it to Limbree, ‘Breakfast will be ready soon. Bacon and egg turnovers.’ he announced, his deep voice ringing over the camp.

Limbree’s stomach growled again as she took the stake from the Oban and set to work wrapping up what she was doing. Her tent packed and stowed on the underside of one of the wagons. She was grateful that they allowed her to keep her stuff on one of the wagons. Stepping over to the rest, many were dressed in thick coats. Others were dressed in finer clothing, things she imagined set them out of place even here in the wilderness.

”How far do you think we’ll get this day?” Limbree asked the group leader as she got her portion of breakfast. ”Think we’ll make Zena?”

The leader gave a chuckle as he looked towards Limbree. ‘You are a small ball of fire.’ He chuckled again. ‘We’re aiming to get to Zena by nightfall. We’ll just have to see how far the animals will go.’

To this Limbree nodded, eating her breakfast. The entertainers broke camp not that long after and stowed away everything. The fire was doused and buried beneath a pile of dirt. The leader called the group together as they started out. The road was a long one, the wind grew colder the further they got. Limbree pulled her cowl closer, though she still shivered against the wind and snow crystals that fell. Perhaps she should have put on a set of warmer clothing. Escaping into the wagon she accompanied, Limbree slipped into a pair of pants and warmer shirt. Poking her head out one of the small windows, she stared up at the looming mountains that were coming into sight.

”Oh this is going to be fun.” She squealed in self excitement, feet tapping the ground as she did so. ”Look out Zena, Limbree is coming!”
