She woke up to a brisk coldness in her room. Quite confused she tried to remember if she was actually at home for a second but yes there was the room she was familiar with in Matori. Perplexed she wandered into the main room of the house and looked outside. She went so far as to stick a hand out and shuddered. Often she did not need extra layers to what basically was beach wear consisting of a top and a long slitted down the side skirt, but today she fished out a sweater that she had stolen from her Dad, it was worn and too big but she loved it, because it was his and he saw her wear it sometimes so he knew where it had gone. She rather thought it amused him that his daughter had stolen it.
Next she heated water up to make tea. Couldn't have a cold day without tea. One large part of her was glad it was the slow season for plants, if it got colder what they had outside might be at risk and that though scared her but as they were between seasons and mostly started their new things inside under the influence of a wood burning fire if they ever needed it she was less worried than she would have been had this cold front come at a less conviniant time. However it did make being outside somewhat unpleasant.
What could she do to while away the time. She had no books but the local bookshop run by that lightning lady wasn't too far away. She bundled up further grabbed some coin and a book bag and scurried off to see what she could find.
Once she got to the bookstore she was confronted with the fact that she didn't even know what she liked to read. Eyes round as saucers she asked the proprietor for some help.
Upon being asked her interests she replied with; "Gardening, travel, sea life, radaku, adventures, and uh romance." She blushed. They were nice to read though she had only snuck some peaks at her mother's books. Surely there were some light romance for her age group. The proprietor, a lovely lightning lady with bright blue eyes, the orange hair standard for those of that tribe and a bright spirit, tapped her finger against her chin for a few moments and then led her between the rows of shelves to pluck five different books out and hand them to her. Hrafn, enamored with this service and selection, barely glanced at each cover before deciding she would buy them all. Who knew how long this cold spell would last and at least her parents would be happy she was reading for a change. They were always after her about being more academic even though she was more of a physically intellectual being, she was smart sure, she just didn't like to sit still when there was sunlight outside, as that meant always that there was gardening to do! That was where she came alive that and in her studies to become a sea summoner type. There was something about the earth and the depths of the sea that called to her. At first everyone had thought she would be a gardener just like her Dad and she was, it just wasn't the only pursuit she wanted to do. And she didn't need magic to make a garden grow, her Dad was good enough at it that he didn't need magic either just time and attention. Plants liked to grow, you just had to guide them and give them a bit of a fertilizer boost once in a while and control where they spread so they didn't get into trouble. She talked to the plants just like her Dad, but every since her first trip to sea she felt that that was where she belonged and where her magic would be the strongest as it lit up her curiosity.
Now she was exploring a new outlet. Books. It didn't take her all that long to get home and she immediately put the books in a stack and rolled a dice to see which one she would read fist. The kind lady had given her a discount for buying all five and being a new customer. Which only encouraged Hrafn more. The first book was a fantasy about a girl and her garden. How fitting. She found a soft blankie and curled up on the couch by the light of a window. She stayed out of her families' way and they let her be.
