It wasn’t often that Nis slacked off during the times she powered up to patrol. Or… at least, when she was planning on sticking to Earth. What she chose to do on her Wonder was between her, God and the Code. And since neither God nor the Code had bitched yet, clearly she was doing all right.
Or at least, that’s what she told herself.
Feeling a soft, warmth around her shoulder, the tall knight glanced sideways and saw that her strange, little wispy friend had decided to put in an appearance. She still wasn’t entirely sure what to think of the thing. It didn’t really communicate beyond little bursts of warmth or flickering. And whatever it was trying to say never came through. Still, it was cute for a little bit of light and mist and Nis had gotten fond of it.
Putting a hand to her shoulder, she scooped the wisp up and brought it to where she could properly look at it.
“Well, you seem pleased enough,” she murmured. “Wish I could figure out what you were and how to tell if you’re healthy…”
She would have said more, but the soft feeling of an Order aligned aura brushed against her. Strange how it felt so small. Looking up, curiosity was writ large over her face. Still, as curious as she felt, she didn’t forget the wisp.
“Stay close,” she whispered. Sure, the aura was a good one, but that didn’t mean the person wrapped in it was. She wanted to keep her funny little pet safe.
In a louder voice, she called, “If you’re friendly, I’m perfectly open to a chat!”

Tea had decided to do some patrolling, though for a chibi who should be a fully fledged senshi -- she was having difficulties glad that the fuku grew with her but it was very odd. Most other senshi weren't chibis when they started from what she gathered.
So she sighed, there was a pause when someone said they were open for a chat if she was friendly. She looked around and could tell there was an aura. "OH!"
She was surprised. "Hello!" She'd finally located the voice who wasn't far away ironically she was just lost in thought, "I'm friendly!"
She added and paused, "I'm Sailor Chibi Tea and sorry I didn't realize you were there; I was lost in thought." She admitted sheepishly.

A senshi then, Nis thought, studying the girl. A very young senshi at that. Most of the ones Nis had met in the past had been closer to her own age. I could be this kid’s mother, she thought with some mild dismay. But she was friendly enough and polite. Still, the senshi’s youth was unnerving.
“Pleasure to meet you, Sailor Chibi Tea,” she said, mouth quirking in a smile. “If we're giving out full titles, I’m Nis, squire of Cosmos. And this,” she uncurled the hand holding the wisp, “has no name because I am still trying to figure out what on earth it even is. Besides weirdly cute.”
Bouncing her hand slightly to encourage the wisp to bounce along, the tall knight considered for a moment before folding gracefully to the ground and sitting.
“And don’t worry about apologizing for not knowing I was there. I’d scold if we were talkin’ about a Chaos aura, but we’re not, so no point in scolding or acting offended. I don’t talk to many senshi, so I hope you don’t take this wrong, but I always thought y’all skewed a little older. Or are you one of those people blessed to look young until you hit ninety or so?”
There was something about the senshi’s aura that puzzled Nis. She was hoping that if they talked long enough, she’d be able to figure it out.

Tea smiled when the squire introduced herself. "OH I haven't met a squire before!" She said, she'd seen them but not actually met one. "It's a pleasure to meet you Nis."
She watched the little wisp interested in the thing and tilted her head as it bounced along. "It is cute, maybe it needs to grow more?"
She wondered if that was a thing. She followed suit sitting close to Nis, there was a sheepish chuckle, "Yeah I'm usually more attentive if I feel a chaos aura around . . ." Though she hadn't met a ton of them either to be honest.
There was a pause when the squire thought they skewed a little older. There was a pause, "Well it could be that I'm currently stuck as a chibi . . . My sister was awaken when she was a teen but I guess I drew the proverbial short stick and was awakened when I was still in elementary school . . . "
She sighed, "I've been trying to figure out how to get promoted to full senshi but I don't know if it makes much of a difference??" She looked at the squire, "Have you met many other squires? I know you said you haven't talked to many senshi." Tea was actually curious about all the types of folks that existed.

Absently directing the wisp back to its usual shoulder perch, Nis, listened carefully as Tea spoke. So ‘Chibi’ wasn’t a name, but more of an indicator. And the longer she listened, the more appalled she felt, though she was careful to keep it out of her face. In her opinion, absolutely no one was meant to be fighting magical battles while still in elementary school. She wasn’t even sure that normal teenagers should have that sort of responsibility.
“So,” she said slowly, feeling out the words. “You aren’t necessarily that young, but you just feel like you are? I can’t imagine doing this sort of thing from childhood. How are you even still alive? The negaverse should have chewed you up and spat out the gristle by now!”
Feeling distressed, Nis closed her eyes for a moment, thankful that she’d never heard of a similar state of being where knights were concerned. This poor kid, she thought. She’d been woken up far too soon. Hopefully she hadn’t seen anything too awful. Hopefully someone had had this child’s back and protected her.
Upon re-opening her eyes, the knight sighed.
“Right. How old are you now, just so I can wrap my head around it and get my brain to stop insisting that you’re Baby. It’s kind of disconcerting.”
She smiled quickly, just to give some indication that she had no ill will or anything. She was appalled. Horrified, even. But Tea’s awakening was not Tea’s fault. Therefore, Tea should not be blamed or punished for what, at least to Nis, was a monumental error in judgment.
“I’m afraid, I can’t help much with getting you promoted or even tell you if it will make a difference or not. But to answer your question, I’ve met some when there are meetings. But, ah,” now Nis looked a little sheepish. “I’m not the most… collaborative person in the world. I think I’ve spent more time talking to the merchant, Almadel than I have other knights. I mostly stick to my Wonder and work to revitalize it. Though right now that seems to consist mostly trying to figure out how to rig lights. I’m using candles currently and while homey, they aren’t great for when I want to actually see what I’m doing.”
Nis’ laughter burbled up, inviting the chibi sensi to join in on the joke.

"Right, I think I have to do something to get rid of the chibi title. . . " She paused, "I haven't completely figured it out yet though."
She paused, "Probably because I was awaken? Not to mention my sister's kind of been by my side. I think our oldest brother has been taken by the negaverse -- I haven't seen him but one of my other sisters I think saw something. She just won't tell me."
Tea stretched as she sat down, "Nineteen." She answered, as she shrugged softly.
Tea paused, "Oh we helped Almade!, me and my sister a few months back!!"
"Yeah I've been my homeworld a couple of times, it needs a lot of work things look kind of disheveled and fairly large amount of ruins."
She looked at Nis as the knight laughed she chuckled.

As she listened, the knight found herself wondering if she shouldn't be taking notes for all this. Just how many sisters did Tea even have? And all of them senshi by the sound of it?!? How in the hell had the universe managed those odds?
And at least one brother, suspected taken by the Negaverse. Whooof. That was rough, no matter how one looked at it. As if it could sense the sadness in her thoughts, Nis's little wisp fluttered and rustled around her ear.
"Well, I hope you can find him and he lets you help him," Nis said softly. Really, it was the best of wishes she could offer since so many never really saw the rotten core when they were stuck inside. "I'm glad you have your sisters to lean on."
At the revelation that Tea was nineteen, Nis could only hope that she'd managed to keep from visibly boggling at this information. Whatever magic kept her at this chibi stage clearly packed a punch since Tea felt like she should be so much younger.
Fortunately, hearing that Tea had helped Almadel as well gave Nis something easier to think about. Rolling her eyes a little, she shook her head and sighed.
"He's very lucky that I like him and enjoy his occasional company," she said. "Because I could have happily shaken him til his teeth rattled for letting those damn bugs get so bad. Typical man," she finally laughed. "Ignore the problem until it's trying to chew your arm off!"

Tea nodded when Nis finally said she hoped that Tea was able to find her brother. "I hope so too, I do miss him. He was the oldest and our family just kind of -- maybe leaned on him too much for support and help." She said softly scratching the back of her head. "I think he was all of our favorite sibbling. The twins took it probably the hardest, I didn't understand at the time."
Had it really been so long ago that Feliks was taken from them? Kata seemed to know more than she let on but still. . .
Tea shook her head as she shifted to thinking about more positive things, "Yeahh," There was a chuckle when Nis said that Almadel was lucky, "He really should've called an exterminator sooner, those bugs were something else. I hope they stay in where ever that part of space is, because I don't want to see them again for a while."
She tilted her head a bit, "How well do you know Almadel? I know he said he owed us but I don't really know what help I could use from him." She seemed thoughtful, "I just recently started going to my homeworld."
There was a chuckle, "Not to mention it sounds like he may end up needing more assistance from us if he keeps being so irresponsible about bugs who knows what else is bothering him."

Listening, Nis felt pity for Tea and her siblings. Losing family was never easy. Especially when you weren’t sure exactly home they became lost in the first place. Oh boy, did she understand that one all too well. Feeling a little out of her depth, she was grateful when Tea changed the subject herself to something that Nis felt a little more comfortable with.
“Ugh, those ******** bugs,” she groaned. “If I never see them again, it’ll still be too soon. I still can’t figure out how they got that bad.”
She could and would have happily continued in this vein had it not been for Tea’s next question. Feeling a little as if her brain was suffering whiplash, she tilted her head, considering. Just how well did she know the Merchant?
“Based on the one really good conversation I had with him and the little interactions since, I would be comfortable calling him a casual acquaintance,” she finally said. “I’d probably even call him a friend. But he and I both deal in antiquities and history, so there’s already a sort of bond there. A shared curiosity, if you will.”
Nis grinned a little before shrugging her shoulders and continuing, “I don’t think he’d ever intentionally get one of us hurt if only because that would be terribly bad for business. You were at his museum, so I know you saw the negaverse types that were there. So, you can come to the reasonable conclusion that he stays as neutral as possible in the name of business. If he said he owes us a favor, he’ll stick to his word.”
Reaching out, she ruffled the senshi’s hair gently.
“If you’re not sure what to ask for, just hold on to that card he gave all of us until you can think of something. If knowledge is power, I suspect that Aldamel is a lot more powerful and influential that you might be giving him credit for. His favors are valuable,” Nis said solemnly before smiling and laughing. “And, as you say, who knows what other trouble he’ll get himself into. Might not be such a bad idea to hoard favors like gold and then really cash in.”

Tea nodded agreeing they didn't need to see those bugs anytime soon. "I hope no one brought one home with them and they just multiply." The thought of having to deal with them on earth was ick.
She stretched slightly as Nis spoke about she'd consider the merchant as an acquaintance. There was a nod when the other mentioned she didn't think he'd intentionally get them hurt but it was still complicated sounding the whole bug situation. There was also a nod when the other said they thought he tried to stay neutral. "I think he's almost a chaotic neutral though."
Tea chuckled a bit when her hair was ruffled by the other, and thought about the card she was given, "Yeah, I feel like I need help finding how to unlock the ability to not be a chibi but I think that'd be a waste of a favor." She admitted as she sat there thinking. "Good to know his favors are valuable."
She wondered how to gain more favors than just the one she'd gotten because that was another concept she wasn't thinking about until Nis mentioned it. "Is this the only favor he's given out that you know of or are there others?"

Thinking back to the cosmopods, Nis shuddered and agreed. Those things running amok on Earth would be an unmitigated disaster.
“Well, silver linings and all, I don’t think they can do much without their Queen and she got sucked out into the void. So, I think we should be okay on that score. Though,” she sighed, “knowing this damn town, I can’t rule them showing up out completely either.”
Firmly shoving the idea of massive, hungry bugs to the very back of her mind, Nis considered Almadel and thought that Tea had a point. For all his neutrality, he was fairly chaotic. Still.
“Well, there’s chaotic and then there’s Chaotic,” she said. “I don’t think he’ll fall to the dark side anytime soon. Remember, he’d lose our business and he won’t risk that. As to your problem, using your card to gain some insight isn’t a bad notion. But I agree that it’s not the best use of a favor. It sounds like this is something that all chibis have to do at some point? Am I correct in assuming that? Surely there must be former chibis who’ve done it who can help you? Even if they don’t know the specific answer, they could tell you where to look.”
Granted, this was her first time meeting a chibi, but logically, Tea couldn’t be the only one. And if Tea knew she needed to do something to unlock herself and level up, then it stood to reason that there were chibis who’d done just that. Surely the cats wouldn’t just dump a child into this mess with zero chance of having peers who could help. Even though she wouldn’t mind punting some of them for dumping a damn child into this mess to begin with…
She was shaken from her fantasy of using guardian cats as footballs by Tea’s next question.
“Well, gotta be honest, this is the first time that I know of where he asked for help and promised a favor in return. So, the cards that we got as unique more or less. But when I first met him, he gave me a calling card of sorts. But,” she held up a hand to forestall any questions. “He made it clear at the time that it was to be used if I ever wanted a good chat about shared interests or if I had something to trade. It’s glossy black and requires a drop of my blood to activate. So, I’m not really sure if I can claim two favors or not. I wouldn’t be at all shocked if he found a way to magic them so that he knows if one is calling in the favor or just calling to say hi and have a cuppa.”
For a moment, Nis considered offering that old card up to Tea. But she didn't like the idea of trying to game the system as it was. And she knew instinctively that she did not want to make an enemy of the Merchant. No, this was something that Tea would have to puzzle out on her own.
Still…
“Try finding other chibis first and talk to them,” she urged. “You know you’d be mad at yourself for using the card up if the answer ends up being something easy that you could have figured out on your own with a little legwork. Save that favor for something that you can’t accomplish by yourself or with the help of friends.”
Nis paused, realizing that she was beginning to lecture and kind of cringing at herself for it. But at the same time, she couldn’t help it. Tea couldn't be the only chibi trying to access her adult power. And she’d be willing to bet that none of those assumed prior chibis had had a wacky alien to help them. There were better uses of a favor.

Tea nodded as Nis spoke and she chuckled slightly, "That's true, hopefully the void ended in a black hole, that'd help hopefully keep the queen away."
There was a sigh, "I've heard weirder things have happened so, hopefully we don't see them but I guess at least we know what to do if they do show up to them."
Tea seemed thoughtful when Nis mentioned there was chaotic and well more chaotic. The fact that Amadel wouldn't go to the negaverse did make Tea feel better since it sounded like he needed their help too not just the negaverse. "Oh yeah I could try to find someone who was already a chibi, that's a good idea. I'll have to ask a cat if they know any former chibis."
There was a frown when the other mentioned the calling card they had - required a drop of blood. She was curious as to why the favor didn't sound like it needed blood to call but the calling card did. "Interesting, glad he has a different card besides just the IOU card but the fact it takes blood sounds a little weird."
There was a nod again when the other said it was best to try and find other chibis, "Yeah, hopefully it's not crazy insane whatever is needed to get my full power. It's just annoying being stuck at a chibi level power."
She seemed thoughtful, "I assume knights don't have to do that kind of stuff.."

"It does sound weird," Nis had to admit. "But I suspect it might be something like the version 1.0. It might also just be a way of weeding out frivolous requests. You wouldn't think it was worth it to cut yourself just for a silly 'Yo bro', right? It makes you stop and think first."
Of course, Nis had no idea if that was actually the case, but it sounded good and borderline wise. Therefore, she would roll with it.
A small smile tugged at her lips as Tea spoke. She couldn't imagine being stuck at a fraction of her power. Not that her power was all that terribly impressive, but for a senshi, it had to grate.
"No, I don't think there's a knightly equivalent, sorry. I'm happy to help where I can, but I think this is something that you're going to have to ultimately puzzle out yourself. Also, consider," she continued in a coaxing, cheery tone, "if the cats can point you to other former chibis, that would mean it can't be that insanely difficult."
She hoped that Tea wouldn't question her questionable logic too hard. Nis truly hoped that the girl would find what she needed since she seemed so very set on getting the outcome she wanted. She even sent a little silent prayer of thanks to the Code for not knights a similar problem.
"I know you'lll figure it out," she instead settled on. "Clearly you're smart and capable. Otherwise, I don't think you'd have made this far."

Tea nodded as she listened, Nis was right it wouldn't make sense to just call for a chat if there was a need for blood.
There was a soft sigh when Nis said she didn't think there was a similar version for Knights, "Oh thank goodness, that would suck if there was a knight version. I don't even know what they could accomplish."
Tea smiled though, "Yeah I have a cat friend I'll have to locate. Maybe she won't be hard to find!"
The smile grew a bit as Nis said she was clearly smart and capable, "Thank you, I've hoped I am -- I know I've had my sister to help me some but still, it's crazy."
She was looking towards the sky, "Hm, I believe it's getting fairly late. Would you be up to meeting again sometime? Maybe we could spar if I've figured out how to unlock my full power by then." There was a hopeful smile as she looked at Nis hoping the knight would at least entertain her idea. Sparring would be useful especially after she'd worked out the conundrum so she could figure out her full power.

Standing up and stretching out so her spine popped and crackled, Nis winced then smiled. It appeared that her words had had the effect she’d hoped for. Tea was thinking and focusing on tangible solutions. And she already had a cat friend! Doubtless, she’d get everything sorted out to her satisfaction.
“Knights would accomplish very little if we had the constraints of chibi-ness,” she said frankly. “You at least have magic when you start out, right? We just have proto-weapons that don’t do anything…”
She trailed off at the thought, already not liking where it was heading. Nope! She was going to simply be grateful to not have to deal with chibi knights. And in the meantime… Offering a hand to Tea to help her up, Nis grinned and winked.
“I’d be happy to talk to you again. And when you unlock the mystery, you’ll have to tell me all about it so I can applaud you properly,” she said before nodding and allowing an anticipatory gleam to come to her eye. “And we’ll spar. I’m happy to do it. I need more practice against magic types like you and you’ll need practice figuring out your new limits. Sounds like a win all ‘round to me.”
Still smiling, the tall squire considered the girl once more before nodding as if pleased by what she saw. She wasn’t sure what Tea could do or where her quest would take her. But she had faith that the senshi would find what she was looking for and come out as a formidable fighter.
“But you’re right. It is getting late and I, foolishly, gave myself the opening shift tomorrow, so I need to be heading home. Best and all the luck to you, Sailor Tea. You’re gonna rock this s**t.”
