Shopping had been a good distraction because everything was still so up in the air. Alexandre kept assuring him that his move would be handled and he'd gotten everything boxed up and settled into one of the closets at their place. The only things really left for him to do were to hand the keys back over to his landlord and get his deposit back. With how little he'd been living there, the amount of cleaning he had to do was negligible once he got everything out.

It had been hard though, not because he didn't trust the blonde who walked beside him but because he didn't like not knowing if where he would be living next. Their house was nice and he did like it there but Hudson lived there as well and from what he knew there hadn't been any talks with them about him moving in.

But he tried not to think of it today as they shopped and grabbed soaps and candles, something he knew always came in excess. There were only so many bathrooms in that home but with it getting closer to the end of the year he half wondered if some of them were meant to be gifts for family.

Walking slowly as he carried some of the bags, something jabbed into the center of his shoe and he felt his ankle trying to roll. It moved with his step, settling into the small gap where the heel of his boot met the rest of the sole. But that was the least of his worries as everything to seemed to shift and move.

He'd had a moment to look around at where he'd ended up before Alexandre had appeared. The panic hadn't really set it, not with it looking like some sort of huge board game. It was odd and magic but with only a few moments before his blond had arrived he hadn't really gotten time to process it all.

"Oh... okay. So magic and annoying like the rabbits you love." Teasing them a bit, he bent down and pulled the stuck dice from the heel of his boot. Throwing the dice down to roll, it landed with a three which was right in the middle of what could come up.

"Not sure I expected a game night like this but hopefully this will go better than when you play Lorcan in chess."

Moving forward, at least until he got to the square the dice told him to go to, he was a bit surprised at the fog. But keeping in mind that it couldn't kill him, he just waved it away from his face as best as he could.

"Hard to see in here mon ange but roll yours and hopefully catch up?"

"I can be careful~" At least he figured as long as he kept an eye out things would be alright. The only downside was with all the fog he had to lean down all the way to see what the dice showed for his next roll.

He moved through Alexandre's square but whatever smell was bothering them didn't seem to waft towards him. "Are you alright?" Asking as he moved forward a few more squares, something felt off but at first, he didn't see anything in the immediate area.

Just as he was about to open his mouth to let them know this square was fine, the shrill noises began and he cursed before going to cover his ears. "Merde... something loud." Shouting out to try and get it over the noises in this square. At least it was just sound, even if it was making him dizzy.

The next square seemed quiet at first, which was a relief but as he crossed to try and see if he could roll to move to the next one, a rumbling started. It felt like a stampede was coming as he felt the vibrations through his feet.

Rats, so very many of them, scrambled and swarmed around him. He stiffed and gagged at the smell and filth of them all. It reminded him of the ones that would escape the sewers when the water levels would get too high and flood them.

"Merde..."

It wasn't great and he tried to move through the mass of them to roll and move forward. There would be a bath after this and he needed to check himself because he could have sworn a few of them had managed to try chewing through his clothes to bite him.

"I'm trying!" But the dice refused to make things go faster, seeming to roll low just to spite him. Getting away from the rats, he got a moment to breathe before bats started coming down for him. He'd never seen the things up close and a few managed to bite at him even through the sleeve of his coat. It didn't hurt as much as the rats, not nearly, but he didn't feel like the bite itself was the worst part.

Shuffling through as he pulled his coat up to try and keep the things off his face, he felt a shiver go through him. Being cold wasn't something he was used to but... was he coming down with something? It didn't make sense but now wasn't the time to dwell on it as the threw the dice full force at one of the bats. It bounced off the thing as it squeaked and managed to knock it off course. A small victory at least.

The dice refused to let them go, either of them, and he was getting sick of this s**t. At least this time he figured it might have been because he'd bounced it off a bat. But moving forward, close to the other, and the end, he wiped off blood onto his pants. They'd just go in the trash, he'd get a new pair.

But this new square, oh he didn't like it. Backing against the invisible wall, he felt like he did when that youma had nearly gotten him and Katya. It was close, even if he couldn't see it at first, and it had the hair on the back of his neck standing on end. Sure maybe there had been the smallest amount of belief that things couldn't kill him here hanging on, but that didn't mean he felt any better about feeling like he was on the menu for another dog-like creature.

He could see them trying to get to him just as he'd tried again and again to get out of the square he'd been locked into. The dice fell from his hand as he tried to creep along the edge of the square, keeping what distance he could as he bought some time before bolting ahead.

Rene saw Alexandre nearly fall down into the unknown but he couldn't do anything from where he was to help. Rolling his dice to escape the chasing pack of whatever there was in his square led to just one more square of progress, he was so close but the dice wouldn't let him reach the other.

Entering this square left him coughing and wheezing as noxious smoke floated up and into his lungs. It was vile and had him hacking and gagging from the thick smoke. Blinking, he looked in horror as a terrified wail came from him at the sight of his skin melting away. Rushing forward, to try to get to the edge of the square, he was met again with that torturous invisible wall keeping him boxed in as more and more of his flesh seemed to melt and fall away. He saw his bony hand holding the dice but now he was afraid to roll it, afraid of what would happen next.
