Leaving the house had been an entire event as he had tried to find a good combination of his colorful clothing, mostly things he'd hand-sewn together or found in a place called good will? There were always such interesting colors and patterns on the fabrics, and it always amazed him how the possibilities seemed endless. Most of his things were better suited for warmer weather, but after a while, he managed to find the right amount of layers to keep warm while out and about.
With the weather getting colder, Cameron found himself sticking closer to the more populated areas of the city where some businesses had put up those heating tower things. They dried his skin out, but he did enjoy the areas of warmth around them, always trying to find a place that was just the right temperature or humidity in this always-changing climate. It wasn't something he was used to yet, something he wasn't exactly sure he would get used to, to be honest, but there were enough things here that had helped him settle in partially, at least. The changing of the season, as he was told they were called, was very apparent as time went on. The fact that the plants and animals changed with the drop or rise in temperature was also really amazing to him. Everything always moved forward, and went through their lives alongside it all.
Something he'd noticed was that regular civilians were dressed up in costumes or other festive outfits. Illyria had said there was a holiday and that some people went out looking for tricks or treats door to door. It was a curious thing, and he liked the idea of being able to maybe wander without using the human glamour he had. He wondered what some people might think of him, if they might ask him if he was a rabbit like Stribor or something else entirely.
Occasionally, he picked up some discarded decorations and strings of beads that had been left behind. Most of the time, they were plastic and had a cheap feel to them, but he did like them and how they came in all different colors and designs. So when he happened upon a small cube on the ground, he took a moment to look at it and try to figure out what it was and if it was worth picking up. It looked odd, having some sort of dot pattern on it, but not one that felt like a fashion thing.
Something slammed into him, a gust of wind maybe? But when he looked back, the sidewalk and buildings around him were gone. Everything that had been around him just one blink ago was gone, and in its place was a dimly lit path and that small cube sitting on the floor in front of him. It begged to be picked up, even if he didn't know exactly what it was.
Finally, he picked it up, looking at the thing close up before looking ahead down the dimly lit path. He didn't know if there was anyone here, and when he called out into the space he was in, no response came back - nor an echo. It was odd but not harmful, he figured so far, as he rolled the little cube around in his hand. The only issue came when it slipped over the side of his palm and tumbled to the floor, starting whatever this was up in full.

Quote: Space 3: A strange fog rolls in once you land here. You lose sight of nearly everything, including the game board. If you want to roll, you’re going to have to get close to the ground to even see where you’re supposed to go next. Hopefully nothing sneaks up behind you. With three symbols showing up on the cube, Procyon felt himself being pushed forward through the space in front of him. Even as he tried to lean back into things to stop the progression to get a handle on what was going on, an invisible force stopped him as he felt like he was getting pushed through impassable barriers one at a time. Each one felt uncomfortable, and even as he held his arms out to try and push back, he couldn't get enough resistance to stop until it decided to stop on its own. Once it stopped, giving him time to breathe, Procyon looked around and saw that the area around him had filled with some sort of mist or fog. Waving his hand in front of his face, he found it hard to see even that far, and his fingertips disappeared into the thick fog. If he had to use the dice to move forward in order to get out of this fog, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to read anything. It felt oppressive, and he tried to listen if something was nearby, but the only thing he could hear was the sound of his shoes moving on the ground as he squatted down to roll the dice and see what result it had. It had been a good idea to be honest, because even as he squatted down, it was difficult to see the number of symbols. Something about this fog and mist unsettled him, but as the results showed, it began to dissipate as he felt himself being pushed forward again.

Quote: Space 8: Something slithers across your foot, so fast that you might have thought you imagined it. Except, a few seconds later, it happens again. And then, again. Snakes keep moving across your space. If you move, they see you–and they might bite. Some of them hiss, some are capable of spraying a poisonous liquid that can cause itchiness or burning. With the fog gone and the force pushing him forward, Procyon tried to slow his movement forward with his feet as he passed through each additional square. It stung, and he felt it more and more each time he passed through a barrier into the next square until again the force stopped moving him forward. Rubbing at his arm, it felt slightly tingly after getting squished against the barriers. It looked like he'd made it a good distance in at least, but it was still hard to tell how much further he had to go. Taking a moment to breathe, he nearly jumped out of his skin as he felt something move over his foot. Moving forward, exploring the square, he felt it again and again. Looking down, he saw a snake, hissing at him and trying to spit something at him. Whatever it was, he assumed some sort of spit or something, burned through his stocking slightly. Jumping back, he rolled the die again and watched as the numbers changed before he welcomed the now slightly familiar push of this gameboard, sending him forward and through things.

Quote: Space 13: At first, the square is quiet. Nothing seems amiss. It’s unnerving in how safe it seems. But then, it only takes a few seconds before you understand why. It’s just taken a moment for them to get to you. The patter of tiny feet is rapidly approaching. There’s no light to see them, but there’s a reflection in their beady eyes. Rats. Thousands of them. Chittering, frothing in the mouth. These are strangely grotesque, mutated abominations. They’re running at you like they haven’t got a fear in the world–only, hungry. And rage. If they get to you, they’ll eat you alive. The ground is trembling with their weight. You’d better roll quickly if you don’t wind up a meal. After the last square, Procyon took time to look around, feeling a bit uneasy at how quiet it seemed at first as he walked forward within the bounds of this new square. This almost reminded him of what people had said his magic seemed like, except this wasn't giving him much of a choice or much time to reflect on things. Just as he reached the far edge of the square, he pressed his hand up against the invisible barrier. A sound started to rumble behind him. Turning to look, he saw the creatures, not ones he was sure he knew of on his planet, but more than likely not exactly something from Earth either, if they had appeared out of nowhere like this had. They looked rabid, crazed, maybe? Either way, he didn't want to spend much time here as the moving pile of scrambling creatures came towards him. Throwing the dice down quickly, he saw the result and snatched it up, just as the things started to leap up to grab onto the translucent fabric of his fuku. Then they were gone, much as the other threats had vanished when the dice had been rolled. It was getting more dangerous, and this wasn't something he liked. What if someone who wasn't like him had been pulled in? Would they have been able to get through this alright?

Quote: Space 15: Bats. Maybe you missed them attacking earlier, but they’re back again, and angrier than ever. Instead of just screeching or scratching, they’re swooping down and biting now–and the effects are instantaneous. The little teeth are sharp and painful, but once bitten you might feel agitated and prone to violence, and you might feel perpetually cold and hungry with no relief in sight. The effects might last when you leave the square–or they might linger for a few hours or days after you get out of here. Slithering creatures, a moving mass of hungry rats, and now, in the next square, Procyon had things descending on him from the sky. He couldn't really tell where they were coming from, and with each time they smacked into him, he felt them trying to bite him. The ones that went for his prosthetic were disappointed, damaging their teeth on the material it was made from. Seeing that, he fought back with that arm as he threw the dice down again. He could tell he was closer, that light that showed the exit wasn't much farther, he thought, because he could see it clearer now than he had in the beginning. Throwing a few more off of him as the dice rolled, by the time he shook the last one off the rest had vanished and he was able to move forward again.

Quote: Space 20: The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best. The last square glowed, something that was welcome after the past squares full of creatures that sought to harm whoever was here. Wiping himself off, he looked to see if he had any wounds before picking the dice back up. It felt different, that odd feeling when he'd first touched it was no longer there. Probably a good thing, he didn't want anyone to pick it up in the apartment and end up here by accident. Once he was certain he was in one piece, minus a few little marks on his arm and holes in his fuku, he closed his eyes as the light brightened. When he opened them again, he was back where he had started, which was good, he figured, and with all that excitement, he was ready to go home for the evening. WC 1,542
