Quote: The Gargoyles (3) : Even when you thought you’d seen the last of them, it seems like you’re never really in the clear. A while back, there was an infestation of awful gargoyle creatures–and while every Star Festival had its fair share of oddities, this one seems to have introduced a permanent infestation upon the city. Maybe you see them perched on the roof, or hiding in the shadows, but not all of these grotesque creatures are satisfied with just escaping their interdimensional prison–some of them still have a bone to pick. They seem stony; some of them will watch with a penetrative gaze and never strike to attack, but some of them will dive down to target anyone who gets too close. The monsters come in an array of sizes and shapes, but they are no more than half the size of their target. Their goal is uncertain, but they will crumble into a pile of rocks and dust if struck hard enough. Belenos took a leaf from Lete's book tonight—that girl was incredibly smart. It was so easy to just plop herself down at a picnic table in a park at night with a few books and some snacks, and send off some Mirrorwraiths to do their job while she relaxed and kept half an ear out for any unwanted attentions. She chose to move every half hour or so, trying to keep anyone from being on her trail, until eventually she came to settle on a bench somewhere near an alley in the city area. She thought an aura tickled at the edge of her senses, but she dismissed it, figuring they probably wouldn't come near her. So focused on the aura and her book, she didn't notice one of the gargoyles above her moving until it swooped down and shoved her off the bench.

Getting used to life on Earth was taking some time. Even having been aware of how long had passed while he wasted away on his planet, Thalassa had much to catch up on here. Much new to learn. Like, the language for one thing, and how to read it. Somewhat more relevantly, he had two whole new breeds of Chaos to learn about, which had all new insidious tricks that they could use to cause problems for normal people, who were simply trying to have their normal lives.
The Dark Mirror breed of Chaos especially perplexed Thalassa. From what he’d heard out of Kaifeng, Helene, and Pyrrhus, the Dark Mirror senshi were somewhat different from the one whom Thalassa had met immediately after landing on Earth. That tracked, Thalassa supposed, with the super he currently observed. For one thing, her aura felt different. More subtle than the aura that had followed the other boy, but still distinctly Chaotic. Given the nature of his own world, Thalassa knew better than to trust that subtlety. All manner of trouble could lurk under that, the way that the worst aquatic creatures all lurked in the depths.
Skulking on a second-floor balcony of some empty building near where the Dark Mirror senshi sat, perching on the stone wall that normally would have prevented people, Thalassa did very little to conceal himself. Why bother, honestly? As another powered individual, she could sense his aura. Stupid to condescend to her by acting like she couldn’t see him perfectly well if she would just look up.
Neither she nor Thalassa noticed the dark shadow swooping down—not until it knocked her off the bench. Without much thought, he jumped off the balcony, lunging for the gray, monstrous-looking thing. It didn’t have any aura, Chaotic or otherwise, but obviously, it couldn’t be allowed to live. As he crashed onto the monster’s back, the bench beneath them creaked loudly, then shattered.
But the monster didn’t give up and shatter itself, not even as it and Thalassa hit the sidewalk, amidst a scattered nebula of shattered wood and metal from the broken bench.

Cleeia knew he sohuld probably be more careful. Like, obviously, he was a traitor, and someone in the Negaverse had known, and he still had no idea what had happened or if they were chasing him.
But....he'd laid low for so long. So, so, so long. He wanted to stop laying low and start being a Senshi. He was supposed to have cool magical powers and do cool magical things, and that meant that he had to actually...be.....Cleeia.
So he was powered up, even if the incident with the weird dice should have taught him not to do that, and he went to see if he could find trouble to stir up. Or something like that. Whatever. The point was: Cleeia was Cleeia, and not hiding away somewhere, and....
And he could hear crashing sounds and feel a pair of auras, and that sounded like trouble. Especially because the kinda-Chaos-y aura (Dark Mirror, maybe? Cleeia didn't know a lot about them) felt stronger that the Order aura, and that might mean problems, and Cleeia could....totally....not help, but he'd feel bad not trying, so there was that.
The scene he came upon wasn't what he'd feared, at least. There seemed to be some kind of gargoyle monster that the Order Senshi was fighting, and it didn't feel like Chaos--and Cleeia was not interested in punching it.
But there were other things he could do, so he booked it in.
Once he was sure he was close enough, he cast his magic. Maybe one of them would figure out a way to fix this.
"Secret Inspiration!"Quote: Super Sailor Scout Attack: Secret Inspiration! Cleeia speaks the name of his attack, drawing the form of a strange glyph in the air, which appears glowing yellow as he draws it. The glyph glows, and then bursts into yellow mist, expanding out to six feet around Cleeia. Anyone within the mist finds themself seized with mad inspiration--they feel as if they suddenly understand how to get past any roadblocks they've been experiencing how to sort their s**t out in general, et cetera. This fervent inspiration lasts for 30 seconds, and then ends dramatically, leaving the target suddenly devoid of the understanding they had. It can leave behind a lingering sensation that if only they could remember, they would be able to fix all their problems, or other haunting effects at player discretion. Cleeia can use this magic twice per battle.

Bélénos shrieked, first when the thing knocked her down, then again when the bench splintered beneath the crazy stone beast due to some... some kind of... fish guy??? Oh, shoot, that was one of those alien senshi, right? She'd heard about them. She backed up, scooting on her behind until she was at least a little bit out of range of being physically attacked. She wasn't quite sure what to do—and then another Order senshi came on the scene and holy ********, had she been being spied on by not one but two of them? What the s**t!! That wasn't cool at all— The new guy's magic hit her full on and she gasped, knowing what she had to do. "Hopes and Dreams!" she shouted almost angrily, casting her own magic so that hopefully the fish guy would be able to hold on to the stupid stone beast for just a bit longer. Grabbing a chunk of stone-covered rebar that had split off when the bench shattered, she swung it high, screamed "look out!", and brought it down hard on the gargoyle's head. Quote: The sweet scent of pears fills the area. Allies (regardless of faction) will feel bolstered and more hopeful that they can achieve their current goal. They feel revitalized, like they can manage to hang on a bit longer, and everything will be okay. This lasts for 20 seconds, has 3 uses, and has a radius of 10 feet.

Personally, Thalassa wasn’t too worried about the great stone beast, whatever it was and whatever it thought it was doing. Maybe his powers were not what they had once been, but he’d tangled with worse things than this before. Of course, he’d usually been working with Ryla, Bernard, and/or Imnolu when facing any past monsters, as opposed to some Dark Mirror senshi who scared too easily and some fellow agent of Order, currently of unknown quality.
As it stood, Thalassa had a good, solid grip on the stone monstrosity. It reared back as it pushed itself off the sidewalk, trying to throw Thalassa off and away—but he stayed clinging to its back and shoulders. Had things been right in the universe, he would’ve successfully kept the thing pinned to the ground. But he didn’t have the mass that he was used to working with, so tenacity was the only option. Sheer refusal to give up and give the thing what it wanted. Distantly, he picked up on the scent of pears, but it didn’t fully register.
Either way, hanging on like this worked. Thalassa held the monster in place so the Mirror senshi could take its head off with the piece of broken bench.
As the monster crumbled to dust, Thalassa let it go and drew himself up to standing. Quizzically, he peered down at the Mirror senshi. “Senshi of pears? Is that what you think you are?” Gingerly, he tucked some stray hair behind one of his frilled ears. “If you are, then I got drunk on your world’s brandy many times a thousand years ago.”
But their group had another member somewhere, too, and Thalassa glanced around, trying to spot the other Order senshi.

Well! Look at that! Cleeia had been helpful for once! It looked like his magic had actually worked the way he wanted it to when he was using it to like, actually inspire allies, rather than necessarily confuse and distract enemies.
Also, taking the monster's head off with a piece of destroyed bench? Absolutely awesome. Cleeia wanted to credit himself for that, but maybe the Dark Mirror girl was just that smart.
He jogged up and waved, closing the distance with an awkward little smile.
And now that he was closer, it hit him--the Order Senshi looked...strange. Maybe not quite human. Was this like the aliens that had worked with the Negaverse? Some other visitor from beyond the stars? That was wild, if so, and Cleeia wasn't sure what to do about it necessarily.
"Hi," he said, casually, or as casually as he could manage, because it was probably better to not be weird about the whole Alien Thing. "Are you guys both okay? Sorry about the aftereffects of my magic, it can be a little odd, but it'll pass." And hopefully they didn't blame him for whatever it made them feel after.
"I'm Cleeia."
Because an introduction was necessary. Even if it was a little lame.
God, he was so awkward, but that was okay. Her'd just have to push through it and maybe then he'd be able to....
He wasn't sure. Make friends? Seemed silly and a litte childish, but "silly and a little childish" wasn't the worst thing.

Bélénos heaved a great sigh of relief when the stupid thing finally burst into stone grit. Blech. What a crazy little creature. She wondered what kind of magic had powered the stupid thing. She certainly hadn't noticed any kind of Order or Chaos aura around it. Maybe there was such a thing as ambient magic? At being addressed, she squeaked a little bit, taking a tiny step back. "Um. Yes. I am. Bélénos, Senshi of Pears, at your service. Sorta. Thank you for helping to kill that thing." She curtsied, turning to Cleeia as he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you. And don't worry about it, if it wasn't for that magic of yours giving me a kick in the skirt, I probably wouldn't have smashed it while, um, sorry, what's your name? Held it down." She gestured to the fish guy with a nervous smile, hoping he wouldn't suddenly turn on her. It didn't seem likely, but with what she'd heard about some of these alien guys, she didn't want to take any chances!

Thalassa nodded, listening to both of the young people with their introductions. So, Chaos had gotten its hooks in the senshi of pears. What a ******** waste, honestly. Might not have been worth the effort to say so, but really, if the fruit on her world still grew as it always had? The universe had lost something special by losing the ability to make their twice-distilled pear brandy.
(Somewhat frustratingly, the new Kaifeng wasn’t cut from the same cloth as Xingyi Kurogane had been when it came to alcohol, so Thalassa couldn’t even expect to try Earthling pear brandy back at the house. Stupid reincarnation cycles making people sober when Thalassa recalled them tending more toward drunkenness. Sure, Helene liked it better that way, or seemed to, but……well. He would. His people had been weird like that.)
With a soft hmmm noise, the fish-man shrugged. “Thalassa of exhaustion, feeling fine,” he said, “and I recall your world, too.” He pointed toward Cleeia, then looked directly at him. “Specifically, I recall that my friends and I never ran a heist there. Rumors of fantastic loot, but also extremely odd dangers.” But, that was neither here nor there. Speaking to both of them, Thalassa said, “You both fought well, showed ingenuity and resourcefulness. I should be going, but……take care of yourselves, especially after an unexpected battle like that.”
He still didn’t entirely understand how the Dark Mirror nonsense worked, but……there would be more time to observe and to learn.

"Oh," Cleeia said, when Belenos said he'd helped, "good, I'm glad, my magic can be a little odd." And perhaps Thalassa's explanation that there were strange rumors about his world explained that.
"I haven't actually been to my world," he said, and hew definitely sounded a little guilty about it. Probably he should, because it was like...neglectful....for a Senshi to not visit their world regularly. But, well, there were so many other concerns these days. "So I couldn't tell you anything about how true the rumors were or not."
"Anyway, glad to have helped, stay safe," he said. Probably no one needed that. Whatever. He was doing his best.
He'd have to go home, and maybe see about visiting his world, so that maybe he could feel less bad about the whole thing.
