Discord rp between Cornetified and me
Late autumn festivities were in full swing in Tale as the residents of the village prepared to wrap up the harvest season before the first winds of winter hit the country. Tryston was growing accustomed to seeing grass rather than snowy landscapes, the knight having returned from dealing with the conflict up north months ago to reunite with his family and who was now facing his newest challenge…adapting to life with infants, who thankfully after a morning of running about were now cozied up in their cradles sleeping for the afternoon. While the Brotherhood continued on with Lyrie as their commander once more, Tryston was on leave for the remainder of the year to help his family settle into their home in Tale. His personal suites in the old castle remained up north as Lyrie had granted him a role within the Brotherhood that was basically as a second commander when he was active, but Tryston would not make his family endure winter and Lyrie had refused to allow him to be apart from Constynce during their first year with the babies. He was truly thankful for that, despite the tension between him and certain residents of the village that still didn't quite trust the warrior, and so Tryston was determined to do his best for everyone while he could before returning north next year. And that involved helping to set up the home that Constynce had moved into with the babies, the pair hopefully going shopping this afternoon while her grandparents watched over the sleeping infants for a few hours. And they could also enjoy the festivities together for a bit, a rare blessing that Tryston was looking forward to enjoying with Constynce.
So for now he lingered outside of the home, the warrior preparing for the trip into town so that they could depart as soon as Constynce was ready to leave.

Constynce felt the butterflies in her belly as she wrapped the small satchel around her hips. Things felt like they were finally going well.. so something was sure to go wrong soon. Could they really leave the babies? What if something happened and they couldn't be reached? What if they couldn't get back quick enough? What if-?
She forced herself to take a deep breath and kept walking to resist turning around to cancel the evening out. She and Tryston had earned a bit of time together. Between caring for the twins and building the new home and the harvests rapidly approaching and trying to support her aging grandparents, there was simply no time for it to be just the two of them. She's known that babies changed things, but she hadn't quite been ready for the turn her world would take when two of the most beautiful babies she had ever laid eyes on joined the world.
When she stepped outside and looked up to see Tryston waiting patiently, she felt the weight lift from her shoulders. A grin brightened her expression, and a bit of the more carefree Constynce shone through. Without a second thought, she ran forward and jumped to wrap her arms around Tryston's neck and hugged him close. She was silent for a long moment, simply inhaling his scent and savoring his presence.

A rare smile crossed Tryston's lips as the normally stoic warrior wrapped his arms around Constynce. "Everything alright?" He asked quietly, his clear gaze skimming over Constynce to make sure that his beloved was truly okay. It still felt like a dream that he could wake up to her every morning and see their family, family!, gathered together every day under a peaceful sky. After so much conflict it was hard to believe that this truly was his reality now. It filled his heart with joy to know that he could see that smile and watch the little ones growing stronger by the day. Even if he had to return to the Brotherhood eventually the warrior could only hope that things continued to be so blissful while he balanced his life in Zena and this new one in Tale. They would address his trips when the time came, but for now they had plenty of months together before even worrying about such things. So for the moment, he simply lingered and enjoyed the time together while giving Constynce a reassuring squeeze, whether for himself or her who knew, but it was definitely comforting to feel her warmth in his arms as the afternoon sun shined on the autumn scenery around them.

Constynce sighed softly with a nod. "Mm-hm. Everything's great." How could it not be great? They were here, together, and not saying good-bye. They were just together. She caught his lips for a kiss as she leaned back onto her feet and chuckled. "I'm just looking forward to this. Very much." With a pleased grin, she tugged on Tryston's arm eagerly to start moving away from the house. For the next few hours, they could do whatever they wanted! "Where would you like to go? I'm not very hungry yet~"

Tryston nearly leaned forward to catch another kiss before Constynce pulled away with a chuckle. "That's good." He replied, his expression warm as he allowed Constynce to tug him along towards the festivities. The question made his gaze narrow thoughtfully, the iceling warrior pondering the options as they continued walking along the grassy path towards the village of intermingled trees and houses with bright banners and ribbons flying in the wind to celebrate the harvest festivals. There were even various straw and grass figures along the way, guardians for the fields to try to scare off any wild animals who might be enticed to follow the scent of fresh food and incense. "Decor?" He finally questioned, looking back towards Constynce as the path widened into a more stone paved one that led into the village itself. They could buy things to decorate their new home, maybe even more things for the nursery if she wanted as well. This was their home and he wanted to keep it bright and full of life which suited Constynce and their family so well, even if sometimes he felt a bit at odds with the warmth when he was more natural in the colder north.

Constynce's free arm automatically curled up as though holding a tiny baby as she walked along. A rapidly developed habit that went unnoticed for the time being. The festival decorations and smells and sounds were lifting her spirits even further and taking her mind off of the rewarding but exhausting responsibilities of being a parent. "Oh, really?" She looked up at Tryston with interest. That had been an unexpected suggestion, but a smile of approval was still on her lips. "That would be nice. I want to make sure we don't clutter the place too much.. but it would be pleasant to have some things to make it more.. us." Considering that the two of them had spent the last few years without any solid roots, and that they recently had more important things to spend their money on, the majority of the decorations they had were what her grandparents had been willing to part with. "That wall in our bedroom is certainly looking a little barren."

"Mmhmm." Tryston nodded, the hint of a smile curving his lips ever so slightly at the agreement. His own space back up north had bare minimum since he rarely thought about decorations and only focused on survival and training back then, but things were different now. It would be nice to make a warm space to share with his family and he knew it would give him some small comfort knowing that Constynce and their babies had a space like that when he did eventually travel again. Ah, but the wall? Tryston tilted his head thoughtfully before nodding again, his hand reaching out for Constynce so that he could lace their fingers together as the main entrance of the village fully came into view with the crowd waiting just beyond it. "Something to hang or paint?" He suggested after a moment, taking in the sights and trying to not seem too protective even as he kept close to Constynce while looking over the stalls that he could see nearby. There was so much going on today with the festivities, merchants even from other countries had come into the area to set up temporary shops for the weekend while visitors roamed and bartered items with each other.

Her mind wandered over the possible art that could be put in the space of the wall. Something to paint... Something to paint! Her eyes widened with delight as she did a quarter turn to face Tryston. "Something to paint! Yes! What if we got a canvas for putting prints of the babies' hands and feet?" She gasped softly and gripped Tryston's fingers tighter. "Oh! We could do our hands and feet, too! Give everyone their own color. A little family portrait, so to speak! How wonderful would that be?"
All at once, she felt the heat rise to her cheeks and she tried to tone herself down a little. This was supposed to be a day for just the two of them, and she was already talking about things with the babies. "Though, perhaps that's more of a family room decoration than for the bedroom~"

It was hard to not smile at Constynce's obvious excitement. Even if she flushed, Tryston only found it more endearing as he listened and nodded at the idea. It was interesting to think about all these little projects one could do with family and though he still struggled with the reality of having a family now, the warrior found himself looking forward to all of these new ideas that he never imagined possible before. "It sounds wonderful." He agreed quietly, giving Constynce's hand a little squeeze of encouragement. It was more of a family room decoration, but that didn't matter. They were going to decorate the house with so much color and life that it would be a welcoming home for them all. "Family room and colors?" What colors would work best for them? Tryston could only imagine something vivid for Constynce, maybe a bright green or a pinkish color to match her crystals? Something warm while his color would probably be darker, maybe colder? Not that he knew, he truly wasn't much for decorations before this and so Tryston felt completely off balance even as he tried his best to follow along. It was a learning experience, after all, and he was more than willing to see where today went and how their home looked once everything finally came together. And he would be taking quiet notes, thinking about what he could take from this experience to use up north in the suites there if his family ever wanted to stay in Zena for a time.
But for now they would have to find some paints first. Tryston glanced around, looking over several stalls before he noticed one that seemed to have a lot of crafting materials. Could that be it? He looked at Constynce then nodded his head towards the booth, the colorful ribbons swaying from the stall catching his attention. Hopefully there would be some smaller sets of paints there in the array of materials that the merchant had spread out in the display.

Her eyes shone with delight at Tryston's approval. She hadn't expected him to flat out refuse the idea, but the agreement was a pleasant surprise as well. She felt a little guilty that their day was still turning into a family centered outing, but at least it was just the two of them able to work on the planning. They could really focus on each other while still working on a project that would involve the whole family. "Oh goodness, what colors though? You and I can pick out what we want, but we'll have to choose for the babies." That thought made her a little sad. Of course, the only other option was waiting until they could actually choose, which would mean waiting quite a while. She wanted their tiny handprints!
"Oh!" Constynce skipped over to the stall with one hand still clutched to Tryston's. "Perhaps we could go with the colors of their eyes. Yellow and green would be pretty together." She reached out to pick up one of the pots of yellow paint and squinted at the example dot. That one would be too dark for Zariah. "Unless you have a different idea for them?"

Tryston opened his mouth and then promptly closed it as Constynce echoed his own thoughts about what colors they could pick. "Mmhmm." He agreed, nodding as he thought about the colors. The first thing to pop into his own mind had been the color of their eyes, the iceling still in awe of the first moment both babies had opened those bright gazes and greeted the world. Even if the outing turned more into something for the family, he truly didn't mind. If anything he was just happy to see how much warmth Constynce held for their family. It made his own expression soften, the obvious love there melting through any icy façade.
"Eyes are fine." He reassured her before looking at Constynce and then thinking of himself. "Silver and pink?" If they wanted to go with their crystals or something like that? If they went based on eyes alone then there would be two sets of green with gold....and silver for his strange gaze that had been altered so many years ago. Tryston couldn't even fully remember what he had looked like before that fatefal day to be honest, but he was alright with that now. He had accepted the changes years ago, worrying more about the state of the Brotherhood than his own body, and now it seemed just like some sort of faded memory that things were ever different for him. Even as he thought about it, Tryston reached over Constynce towards a higher shelf to pick a paint that somehow looked metallic. "This?" It did almost look like honey or molten gold in the sunlight, the merchant having somehow mixed in something to shimmer in the paint. Would there be something like that for the other colors as well?

Constynce looked up at Tryston and stuck out her lip in a playful pout. "Just fine, Tryston?" It took her a moment, but then she realized the reasoning that she wouldn't also be green. The boy had inherited her eyes, and she didn't want her larger hand print to take away from his special moment! "Silver and pink!" she agreed. She reached up to gently touch the crescent crystal that she loved so much on Tryston's forehead. Even she could barely remember them before the changes...
She leaned in to inspect the paint Tryston had picked up, and her eyes lit up with delight. "Oh, this looks like it might be perfect!" She took his hand still holding the pot and maneuvered it to catch the natural light. So pretty- just like their daughter. "Where did you get this from? Maybe we can find all of our colors?" She pursed her lips contemplatively. "Or should it just be the babies? Maybe all of us having shiny colors would be a bit much?"

"I..." There was a moment of confusion, slight panic even that he had said something wrong, and then Tryston realized that Constynce was teasing him. The warrior simply closed his mouth and shook his head, a hint of a flush decorating his cheeks for the moment until Constynce caught onto why he picked the other two colors for them. The embarrassment turned back into a nod, a small smile lingering on his lips at the agreement. As he also received approval for the choice of golden paint, Tryston gestured towards the higher shelf that had a few others like that.
The merchant, a friendly looking Matori woman with an apron splattered in a variety of colors, smiled as she watched the couple. "There's various colors and the shimmer is made from crushed seashells that I mixed into the paints. If you see any other colors that you want to shimmer, I can mix it up for ya." And as if to prove her point she started mixing another pot together with a wooden stick, the swirling colors starting to shimmer more as she added in the powder.
Tryston nodded his appreciation before glancing over at Constynce. "We could space them?" Maybe if the prints were spaced they could all keep the glimmer on all of them, if she wanted with the babies' handprints being in the front of the piece. Either way he was okay going along with her suggestion, the warrior also pondering the canvas that they could use for the handprints.
"If you're doing a cute project, I would recommend some wooden boards or canvas over there." The Matori woman added as she slowed down her stirring, her interest in the couple fairly obvious as she watched them browsing through the paints. "Ya can also do some really cute designs on shaved tree stumps, I have a friend who takes fallen trees and cuts really thin pieces for wall hangin's and the like."

She peered up at the high shelf with a critical expression than implied more crafting know-how than she actually had. There were actually quite a few pots to inspect... It was a little intimidating. "We'll just have to get enough paint to try a few different ways for placing our hands. There's still wood left from building that we can use, and save the canvas for the real thing."
Constynce looked at the merchant with a polite smile, which then formed into a bright grin. "Shells? I was wondering how the shimmer was made. How lovely!" She looked up at the pots, and then back at the merchant. Hmmm... "Would you be able to pick out colors for us? We're looking for green like my eyes, pink like my crystals, and silver like his crystals." It was too bad they couldn't use his eyes to check the yellow, but she was fairly confident in the color Tryston had found!
But oh goodness, now there were other base options! Canvas, boards, trunk sectional... She looked over to Tryston for his opinion.

Tryston nodded. It was a fair enough plan and thankfully he had a good pouch of coins from Lyrie when he left the Brotherhood. It was plenty to help them while they got their home settled with extra to hopefully keep his family in decent shape when he did eventually leave for Zena again. So they definitely could afford to play around with a few colors and such, if Constynce wanted. "Any extra can be stored and used around the house." Tryston acknowledged, thinking about how convenient it might be to have some spare paint on hand in case they wanted to paint anything else around the house. Why not decorate some of the furniture in the nursery as well? It was something he hadn't thought of for himself, but he had seen some things in the house where Lyrie was staying back in Zena with his wife before rejoining the brotherhood. She liked painting and the tables and such had little decorative swirls and vines all around them, the idea making Tryston think about how they could do something similar for the babies.
"Right?" The Matori beamed with happiness at the praise from Constynce. "It was a family speciality that I just had to share with others. Helps to make a livin' too once we managed to get past Matori with the goods. Lot easier now a day compared to my grandpa's time." She joked lightly, not even trying to ignore the past that Matori shared with Oba. "Now I get to see all sorts of colors, let me look over ya both." The merchant wiped her hands on her apron and came over to look at Constynce and Tryston, her head only tilting slightly with confusion asa she studied the warrior for a moment longer before going back to the shelves to pick a couple of pots. "I think these can work, I'll just need to add some powder to this rose hue with a bit of cream to brighten it up just a smidge for ya. Feel free ta keep browsin' while I mix. There's brushes and such on the corner there."
Tryston followed the directions, looking back at Constynce before holding up a thin stump piece that had curved edges that almost reminded him of a daisy. "Maybe a few?" They could pick up some things for projects and figure it out along the way. It wasn't as if this festival would be forever and the merchant would be traveling to the next town soon enough. So why not indulge a little and get some extra materials for a rainy day? It was rare for him to be so relaxed about things, but for once Tryston just wanted to enjoy their time together without being tense over budgets or enemies or anything else.
