“And with that I’ve got three 6’s and a pair of Queens.” Ophilia put down her cards to reveal her hand. It wasn’t exactly a full house but it also wasn’t too bad for a friendly game of Poker. Considering that the entire game was just a ‘hey wanna play a hand or two’ she wasn’t too pressed to win. She still wanted to win but there wasn’t any money on the line and she liked her younger cousin, so it was just a friendly game. No underhanded tactics at all. “Think you can beat that Cousin Dearest?”

Oh of course Ophi would be just the absolute best at this.
Abby gave her older cousin a pout and set her cards down, “Clearly there has to be a method I can learn. You beat me every time at cards Ophi and you know that's not fair.” There was something missing and one day she vowed to find it. “Could we maybe play Candyland or Shoots and Ladders?” Anything would be better than cards, unless it was goldfish, Abby could handle goldfish.

Ophilia just looked at her cousin, a dark brow rising even as she smirked. “It just takes skill, and a touch of luck.” counting cards also doesn't hurt, she silently added. She worked with money day in and day out, keeping track of a deck of cards was child’s play for her. Not that she would take these particular skills to a casino, since they tended to frown upon things like that. They also use several decks at once which makes factoring odds that much harder. “Really? Candyland? Don’t you think we are both a little old for that?” More than willing to indulge her younger cousin in further board game shenanigans Ophilia climbed to her feet and sauntered over to the collection of games.
“What about this?” She pulled out an old school game since Abby mentioned two games from their childhood. “What do you think? Which of us is a better detective?” Clue was a fun little game that was a mix of strategy and details. She was still pretty certain she would wipe the floor with Abby but maybe the younger woman would actually put up a fight. “Or if you just want to lose again we can play Mancala,” Ophilia gently poked fun at Abby.

“What? I happen to like Candyland thank you. You are never too old for playing Candyland.” Which was true. She would play that game even when shes like…40 years old and ancient. Abby watched as Ophilia went to the games shelf, pulling out Clue. “Oooooh! I haven't played clue in ages!” She was so excited to maybe beat her cousin at something, her competitive spirit was in full swing by now. At the mention of Mancala, Abby gave an unlady-like sneer. “Pass, I have no desire to lose my dignity yet again because you're stupidly good at a game so simple as Mancala…”

Ophilia just gave her cousin a look before snorting, “Sure, whatever you say.” She wasn’t going to argue over the merits of such a kiddy game that really was all about luck. Instead she quickly made her way back to the table and started to set up the Clue board. “Abby, Abby, Abby,” The older woman just went ‘tsk tsk’ and shook her head as she quickly shuffled the clue cards. “You’ve just got to get in the habit of planning out your moves several steps ahead. It makes it much easier to outsmart your opponents that way.”
She might not be the best at that in the real world but with board games… it was much easier to control. The rules were set, the variables limited, and only a handful of people to factor for. Not so much for real life, that's for sure. “Granted,” She grinned at her little cousin, teasing her, “It doesn’t help when your opponent is a few fries short of a Happy Meal.” The cards were dealt, the notepads passed out, and she had selected the red token, Ms Scarlet, to play. “Pick your character my dear Abby, there is murder afoot.”

“Well, I'm not afraid to admit that I'm not good with the planning ahead stuff….” But then again, it's not like it isn't a skill she can't learn, she just didn't feel the need to at the moment. She gasped with mock offense at her last comment, “I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about Ophie, shame on you for implying my blondness gets in the way of my intellect!” Even if it might be true in SOME aspects. Abby reached for the blue token, Ms Peacock, and gave her cousin a knowing grin. “Yes dear Ohphie there is murrrrderrr afoooot!”
Honestly she loved it when Ophie came to visit, she was one of her only cousins that would play any form of board game with her. Andy played but he wasn't a cousin and she figured he would prefer videogames which okay, she has a switch and a ring fit but she wasn't a gamer, like at all. Board games were more her speed and that was how she liked it.

“I’m sure you don't, Abby,” Ophilia smirked at her cousin, well aware that the other female wasn’t as ‘blonde’ as she appeared. It was just so fun to crack jokes. “It’s ok dear, you're fine just the way you are,” She reached over and patted the blonde before snagging the six sided die before giving it a roll. “Like I said, always plan ahead… in this case Ms. Scarlet always goes first.” She grinned at Abby and moved the four squares that the die granted her. She wasn’t far enough to go into any of the rooms but that was ok, she already had a strategy in mind.
After passing the die to her darling cousin Ophilia just rose a brow, “Well? Do you think you can outsmart me this time?”

Almost an hour later, Abby sat, staring at the board. She couldn't figure out who did the murder, but she did suspect that there was some foul play between white and yellow. Green was the one that was killed, he was strangled with the rope that was found in the foyer. But how did the rope get to the foyer when it was used to kill green in the garden? She huffed and frowned, trying to think of how to connect the dots. Ophie was a master at board games and she hated and loved it.

Ophilia looked at her cousin and did her best to hold back her laughter. Abby just looked confused and honestly it was both cute and hilarious at the same time. If only Abby applied herself to things like this she would have easily won the game. The die really liked her unlike Ophilia’s piddling dice rolls of normally twos and threes, with the occasional four. The only time she had gotten a six she didn’t even need it since she was going through one of the secret passages which were basically teleporters. This was a game of logic and skill. But it still took some luck… a thing that was apparently against her right now.
With one more roll of the die, a two of course, Ophilia had maneuvered her piece into the living room and made her accusation, her one chance to be right and win…. Or be wrong and loose. “Colonel Mustard, in the Living room, with the pipe.” Smirking, she picked up the envelope that had the answers and shook the cards out. This was the moment of truth.
Rather than following the rules, they were more like house rules at this point, Ophilia flipped each card over revealing the image of a military man in yellow, an image of the living room, and a rusty pipe. She was right. “Elementary, my dear Watson!”

”What?! I thought it was the rope and Mr. Plum killed Mr. Green!” She pouted and huffed, “No fair! I'm calling hax or whatever gamers call it.” Clearly she knew her cousin won fair and square, but she was still a bit of a sore loser at heart. “I want to play Candyland…” At least she could win at that and feel a bit better. “Ophie you owe me ice cream…” And she would like to go out and get the fancy froyo kind thank you.
”Alright, alright. We can play Candyland.” Ophilia smiled and quickly gathered the game back up into its box, making a mental note to get a newer version of the game since this one seemed to be a bit ragged around its edges. It wasn’t long before Candyland was taking up the place that Clue once was. “We can get ice cream after the game,” She said even as she placed her character token at the start, “If you can beat me that is.” She wasn’t planning on throwing the game but it never hurt to get her cousin into the ‘WIN’ mindset. That was the way to get ahead in life. Always strive to be the best, even if it's just at Candyland.
