Garbage Cat

PostPosted: Sun Sep 22, 2024 4:25 pm

Name: Dís (or Dis); formerly Jóanna Einarsdóttir / [Redacted] Page of Cybele.

Gender/Pronouns: Dís doesn't understand the concept of gender. Most people use she/her or they/them.

Hobbies:
'Napping' in inconvenient places – While Dís doesn't sleep, they do lay inertly and quite in the way whenever they are taken to visit Negaspace or when they lay a trap in destiny city. While they cannot explain why this hobby is attractive to them, they are filled with a sense of satisfaction and dominance when people choose to step over the complicated coils and bends of snake and cat. They act offended if someone trips on them, as if the person did so on purpose.

Crystal bathing – There's nothing quite like lounging in the vicinity of Rift crystals. They give off light, energy, and a spooky ambience that allows Dís to feel at home.

Giving 'gifts' – If Dís finds an officer (or perhaps even senshi) they like, they may leave 'gifts' at the person's door in Negaspace. Most of these 'gifts' are yard trash stolen on a Destiny City visit, some belonging from a recent kill, or cardboard boxes in which the youma clearly does not fit. If the lucky recipient keeps the cardboard box in their office, they may find it sitting lopsided one day with a giant snake tail leading out of it.

Virtues:
Independent – Dís acts of their own accord and often does not need direction the way that other youma might. They will help in fights if they see one unfold, drain if the opportunity presents itself, and otherwise seek out things to do based on their own prerogative. They keep busy, with or without orders.

Loyal – Once they find someone they like, they become quite devoted. They're more apt to listen to that person, follow their orders, leave them 'gifts', and spend time around them. They may also become territorial or protective of their favored people, preferring to ward away any interlopers while they are spending time with their people. Their loyalty also extends to the Negaverse, where they will preferentially and dutifully follow the instructions, orders, and suggestions of those who have bonded with them or achieved fourth stage. They are also more likely than not to listen to Generals or Ascended Generals.

Curious – The world is very new and incomprehensible to Dís. They like to see what it has to offer, be it shiny baubles or large events or mild cases of trespassing. Generally, their curiosity is fortuitous – it helps them meet new officers and learn more about them or start to make sense of the world of Destiny City. Their curiosity keeps them active, motivated, and occasionally even learning.

Flaws:
Too independent – Unless Dís is with someone to whom they are loyal, they are liable to change their mind on a whim. For example, if Dís is assisting with a battle and supporting an officer they don't know, they may suddenly lose interest and wander away without so much as a warning. They might also suddenly tune out of a conversation, leave, or spontaneously get rowdy despite instructions otherwise (unless given by their bonded, a General-Sovereign, or the Queen).

Dumb – They don't have the common sense to recognize an obvious trap. They also don't take subtle hints. They can and will miss the obvious, and they sometimes fail to learn from repercussions. This youma will not be one to help plan a mission or complete a task that takes deftness and nuance.

Sassy – They may inexplicably lapse into 'fight mode' at any given time. They might seem perfectly content in a conversation with an officer when a streak of violence befalls them and they say something bold. Or, if someone is petting them, there is no telling when Dís hits their threshold and suddenly swats the offender. Their sassiness may manifest in the form of obstinance, too, where they suddenly refuse to follow orders (excepting those given by anyone who earned their loyalty, their bonded, a General-Sovereign or the Queen).

Outfit: N/A; has art

Youma Type: Humanoid

Abilities:

Poisonous Claws (physical) – Getting raked with Dís's claws may cause temporary swelling, warmth, bruising, pain, and bleeding. There are no lasting effects unless preferred by other players. Without any magical intervention, most of the symptoms will subside by the end of the battle. Swelling may take up to an hour if the player prefers.

Audible Purr (magical) – Vertigo-inducing and discordant to enemies who can hear the purr. Allies may find it soothing and mildly grounding (e.g. calming, may allow them to focus better or get their head back in the game). Deaf individuals are only affected if they can feel the vibration in the youma. They can maintain a 30-second duration on the purr, and it is audible in a 15' radius. 3 uses per battle.
