Calder was in the woods on a day off, training and just trying to learn about her new abilities.
She tested her strength, then her speed, and also her agility. She also seemed to have heightened defensive power. And as she did, she thought. about... Chibi Eternal Sailor Leaena of Cheetahs, and Chibi Eternal Sailor Shedir of Mummies and... their identities. She thought about her new duties as a Knight - well, Page. What being a Page meant. Specifically, a Page of Mercury. And her own identity now as, Calder. Calder, Page of Mercury. What did that even mean?
She stretched, then started to climb a tree, but stopped when she heard someone coming through the woods, towards her own position.
"Um, hello?"

Energy signatures were nothing new to her, though whenever she felt the warm flicker of an Order signature she couldn’t help but gravitate to it. It was part curiosity, part wanting to meet more potential allies in this war. A year in and she really should have met and made deeper connections that what she currently had.
Thankfully, it wasn’t like it was too late or anything. She could get started on that now!
So Ekstrom made her approach with a hopeful expression on her face, and as she converged on the owner of the signature, she expected to see someone ahead of her, not above her.
The Squire looked up, confused, for a moment, before breaking into a wide grin.
“Hi!” she greeted. Having quickly processed what sort of Page she was looking at, her expression brightened all the more, and she very enthusiastically pointed at the symbol on her own chest. “Look, look!” she cried out, voice childlike it her excitement. “Me, too! Me, too! I’m Ekstrom! What’s your name?”

Calder jumped down and smiled as well, confused. "I'm Calder, Page of... oh... I'm guessing this is the symbol of Mercury. Are you a Page too, Elkstrom... you said? Elkstrom, Page of Mercury? Or is it more like a Squire or ... Knight?" Calder looked down in embarrassment. "I apologize, I just Awakened a few days ago. And the only reason I know what I know, is my niece was around to see it ... and she and her siblings happen to be Senshi....they got me started, and my nephew is calling on a knight friend to get me started in the basics... but I'm not sure he's a Mercury Knight.... I'm confused by this... and yet I'm studying to be a doctor..." she trailed off - had she said too much?

”Ek-strom,” she sounded out with a little giggle. “No ‘L’ between the first two letters. It’s nice to meet you!”
The Squire extended her hand, the excitement of seeing a fellow Mercury Knight overtaking her. They seemed to be few and far between, she found, though she honestly hoped there were more than just the two others that she knew. There had to be, right? New and old, she really hoped to meet more!
Shifting her focus back to the present, the Squire shook her head at Calder’s apology, saying, “No worries at all! We all start somewhere, right? So I’m a Squire. If you focus, you’ll probably notice my energy signature is a little bit stronger than yours. Knights are naturally stronger than that. You’ll know when you sense them.”
As she went on to explain, Ekstrom found herself fascinated by the idea that she had family members who were also involved. It actually never occurred to her that maybe someone else in her family might have powers and was just waiting to be awakened, though given they weren’t blood related…maybe not? It was something to think about, that was for sure.
“That’s so cool, though, to have family around to help! The two Knights that awakened me, I sorta consider family now,” though she didn’t know whether or not those two boys felt the same way about her, “but it’s probably really different if it’s actually your family. You said your niece and nephew?”

Calder blushed at her mistake. "Sorry about that. And actually, it's two nieces and a nephew. My younger niece is the one who witnessed my Awakening. And, oh dear... apparently my nephew's cat calls me 'Aunt Aunt'." Calder was still in shock about the last one. "So, apparently every Knight alignment has some sort of history/theme... something thing they hold in common - as in what is different from Mercury to Polaris?" Had she explained that correctly? "What is the Mercury.. ah.. mantra - I think the word is?"

”Two?!” the Squire said, sounding genuinely amazed. “And a Mauvian?” She wondered for a moment how things might have been different for her back then if she had family members around and readily available to help. Of course she knew she had those two knights, and now plenty others, to rely on, but what would have been different at the start?
Not that it mattered a whole lot for her, but for Calder she hoped that it would be more of a good thing than a bad one.
“Mm…I don’t know if it has a formal name or anything, but Mercury knights I’ve noticed that we’re all typically in uniforms made to stand against cold weather, and there’s usually a tech theme of some kind going on? Our aspect, for example, makes us look ‘glitchy’ so we can camouflage into our surroundings if we’re standing still.” Ekstrom touched her ring then, and channeled her magic to demonstrate.
Aspect of Mercury: A Mercury Knight's form becomes staticy / glitchy in appearance, as if they were products of the advanced technology that is their planet's pride and joy. This enables them to blend in with their surroundings slightly: opponents have trouble seeing them if they are standing still, and their movements can be difficult to read in close combat.

Calder nodded at many of Ekstrom's answers and smiled in agreement when Ekstrom's inquiry about her family - "Yes, my two nieces and one nephew and his cat (a Mauvian) are in this battle as well. My nieces and nephew are Senshi." When Ekstrom showed Calder the Aspect of Mercury, she smiled, and said, "That is really awesome, when will I be able to do it? I know that Pages are not able to produce magic yet with their weapons, and I wonder if it is the same with Aspect - and also about Rings? That is a lovely Ring, you have - does it take the place of the Phone - that Senshi have?"

”To use our aspect you just touch the ring and focus on channeling your magic,” she said with a little nod. “Kinda like how you focus when you power up. It took me a few tries to get it down, but I was able to use my aspect a Page.”
Ekstrom gestured toward a nearby bench, in case Calder wanted to take a seat while they talked.
“You should find your ring on your Wonder, so when you go just know to keep a lookout for it. Every wonder is different, so I can’t tell you how or where you would find yours at your Wonder, but it should be there. As for what else it does…” She pulled out the small notepad and pen she kept in her subspace and quickly wrote her name on it, then wrote Calder’s name on it, tore the sheet from the pad, folded it, and stamped it with her ring so her seal was indented into the sheet. The paper disappeared from sight, only to reappear directly in front of Calder.
“Oh, nice. I just took a guess at how to spell your name,” she said with a little giggle. “Anyway, this, I think, is its most basic function. There are upgrades that add to it, but when you first get it, it’s kinda like passing notes while in class, but with a magical little twist.”

"Ok, I get the Aspect and similar, and I get the Ring, but 'Wonder'? What the heck is a 'Wonder'?" She pondered while her new friend started to tell her..."Would it have something to with 'Mercury' - and is that the actual planet, or is it the radioactive material, or something else altogether?" Calder had more questions than could be answered.

”Planet!” replied the Squire as she tucked the pen and paper away into her subspace before going on. “Your Wonder is a location on Mercury. It’s actually where you get your name, and how I sort of understand it is that knights are in charge of taking care of and protecting their individual Wonders. Like I said, each one is different, so you’ll learn more about yours once you visit.”
Ekstrom gave a little nod then, her own Wonder coming to mind and her fondness for it coming through in her smile.

Calder nodded as her eyes widened, seeing Ekstrom make the pad of paper and pencil disappear. "How did you do that?" As she was listening, she checked and realized how late it was. She still had Pre-Med homework to do! "I'm going to have to go soon, I've got college homework to complete. I'd like train some time is that ok?"

”Relatable,” she chuckled and gave a nod or understanding. “I’ve got some stuff I’ve gotta work on when I get home, too. But definitely, if you ever need me, just send me a message just like this once you find your ring The one I sent you has the way you have to spell my name. It’s a little strange ‘cause it has an umlaut. If you forget it, it doesn’t get to me.”
At that, the Squire gestured toward home. “I’m that way, but I’ll see you around!”
