Mephitis took a deep breath as he carefully and quietly slid the door to Aella's room open. Chromatic eyes peeking in carefully to make sure that the snowy-haired girl was still asleep. Fortunately and obviously, she was. Even if most people were wide awake by this hour, Aella was snoozing away in her bed. That was perfectly fine for Mephitis given what he had planned for the girl. A little game to make sure that he had Aella's attention for an entire day. Had he stolen the keys to her motorcycle for this game? Yes. Had it been super inappropriate to sneak into her room hours earlier to snatch it? Also, yes. However, he was going to make it up to her.

The blue-haired young man was back in his own body and far more confident now. He turned to the side once he opened the door enough and bent down, picking up a tray very slowly. Upon it was only a sweet smoothie and two croissants sitting on a plate. Both of which he had run out to grab only minutes ago. He didn't need the tray for just two items but he did for the note sitting upon it.

Mephitis tiptoed across the room until he was able to come to the side of the bed that Aella was already facing. He placed the tray gently upon the nightstand and then sat down on the edge of the bed. One hand gently reaching out to brush her hair out of the way and then running his thumb along her cheek. Gentle, kaleidoscopic eyes studying her features as he called out, "Aellaaa. I got a surprise for you. I'm sure you'll want to see this." Please don't be a raccoon right now! He didn't need her kicking him out of bed like she had done back at the castle... Multiple times!

Occasionally Aella was really cute. Like now, when she was curled up all sweetly, undisturbed by nightmares. The light was flooding the room through the curtains she'd forgotten to close and she had rolled away from it to stay sleeping longer. However nothing was meant to last forever and the peaceful scene of morning sunshine glittering on her snowy hair was shattered when Mephitis attempted to wake the sleeping beauty up. With an unhappy grunt, one hand flopped in the direction of the sound, lazily smacking her palm flat onto Meph's nose and dragging downward at a snails pace thanks to gravity.

Cute, sweet... And a completely trash panda. Mephitis acted almost like a cat as he snapped his eyes shut and reared his head back. It didn't save him from Aella's hand smacking right against his face. He just sat there for a second and exhaled once through his nostrils. Well, good thing he put the foot off to the side. He gently took Aella's hand and pulled it away. "Traaaash Pandaaaa. Wake up. I got a surprise for you. You know, most normal people are awake at this hour."

Grooooooaaaaaaaan The tired trash panda pathetically tried to shake his hand off of her but it was more like a limp fish wiggling around in his palm. "'ive mo minnis."

After a year of being away, he forgot how hard it was to wake up Aella. "Nuh-uh. Wake up or..." Mephitis sighed as he pondered his options. Could use her hand to smack her own face? No. He was trying to be romantic. So, he instead leaned down and snatched Aella up along with the blanket. Her body resting against his as he said, "Come on. I got you some food and a smoothie, you raccoon."

As usual, Aella weighed almost nothing but the bunched of blanket made her feel a lot bigger than she was. The movement stirred her, but not enough to be fully awake. She did register on some level where she was though, because her head nuzzled right into it's favorite spit where his neck curved into his shoulder. "You smell good..." She muttered.

Mephitis just sat there upon the bed with Aella held up in a princess carry. The blanket hanging down around them as he held onto her. A smirk crossing his features as she immediately pushed her head up and right into the curve of his neck, just like always. "Thanks, you flirt. Can't let you sleep the day away off a compliment though. Come on. I don't want to start rocking you around. Don't you want to eat?" He really didn't. He liked holding her like this.

The reality of the situation was starting to seep into the haze of sleep and nag at her consciousness. At first it was nice. He smelled food and her plush lips nipped lazily at his collarbone, but as one of her hands began to wander it started to sink in that no, this wasn't a very vivid dream. Everything came to a half and she pulled her head back, staring up as him suspiciously, hand frozen halfway tucked into the top of his s**t. the words you're a man and you're male got crossed in her brain and what popped out was: "You're man." Stated like a confused cavewoman.

One brow raised up just a tad as Mephitis felt Aella pull away from his neck. The dragon wondering if it was finally clicking for the girl. Chromatic eyes locking onto her as she just stared at him as if he was hiding something from her. He just waited silently until she finally spoke. That's when his lips pulled in and curled into a smile. A short, little snort of laughter breaking through the silence. Oh, he wanted to be so sassy right now. Me man. Me bring food! Oonga boonga. However, he decided to be nice. "Surpriiise. Did you miss me?"

Aella's brows furrowed and her lips formed a small 'o', eyes flickering to the tray and then baclk to him, first staring as if he were a green leprechaun that suddenly jumped through the window and then as if her cookies were strangely missing from the jar. "...What did you do?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 21, 2024 11:48 am

Had he already been found out? He wasn't sure but it was best to play stupid for now. After all, he needed her to clarify what she meant. Mephitis just tilted his head to the side and said, "I got you croissants and a smoothie."

Aella side eyes him, suspicious. "...why?"

"Seriously, you're suspicious cause I brought you breakfast?" Mephitis said with a shake of his head. "Cause I wanted to. Yes, that's the actual answer."

She just started at him like he'd grown a third head. Mephitis had never personally brought her breakfast. Or anything really, like... ever.

Mephitis' past habits were catching up with him. That, and his inexperience with serious relationships. He didn't know whether to blame himself or the world for that. Still, it sucked that Aella looked at him in such a way for doing something nice for once. He took a deep breath before saying, "I know I haven't done it much or even ever before but I want that to change. I want things to be better. Okay?"

Change? Was he talking about where he'd been and trying to lift the curse? Was he possibly getting to say goodbye? Levi did that s**t to her in a past life. Aella started trying to wriggle her way our. "If you're going on some idiotic mission, you don't get to come in here and act all sweet first."

Mephitis just stared at her. "I'm not. Can't I just be sweet and... Look, I promise you I'm not going on some stupid mission or walking away or some other ridiculous thing." She wasn't getting this at all. Mephitis didn't fight back as she started to wriggle her way out. He just shifted down the bed so she couldn't hit the tray of food with something.

Aella slipped out of bed, the soft rustle of fabric the only sound as the oversized shirt she wore shifted against her skin. The rich, finely woven material clung to her in a way that made it clear it wasn’t meant for her, its loose fit falling well past her hips. It wasn’t Meph’s shirt either— but if his dragon senses activated he wouldn't smell anyone else on it either. Wherever it came from, it had been washed and worn clean.

Without looking back at him, she walked to the closet, her bare feet silent on the floor. She sifted through her clothes, the tension still thick between them. “You can’t just... do this,” she muttered, her tone low but tight. She stopped, resting her hand on the edge of the closet door, staring at the options in front of her.

Mephitis' eyes immediately snapped to what Aella was wearing. Brow furrowing in anger and disgust as it was finally revealed what she was wearing. Couldn't smell who was on it but he knew it wasn't hers. It pissed him off so much. While it was part of why he was here, he didn't want it to be the main reason. He also didn't want it to ruin his day. Although, Aella seemed intent on doing that herself.

"Why not?" Mephitis would let her get dress and do whatever she wanted. After all, she couldn't leave. He had stolen the keys to her motorcycle. Besides, he wanted her out of that damn shirt anyways.

“Because.” It makes it really hard to keep her head on straight.

She rifled through the drawer of bunched up clothes and pulled out a few things then turned around. "Are you planning to watch?" Aella asked with a raise brow.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 22, 2024 5:12 pm

Because. Mephitis just closed his eyes and exhaled through his nose as he heard that word. She could never give him straight answers no matter what it was. His right hand came up to his head and the fingers dipped into those long, blue locks. The dragon took a deep, lung-filling breath as he tried to keep his task focused on what was important right now. It was still morning and he had a big day planned for the two of them. He didn't want to start it off with the two of them fighting. So, even if it hurt, he needed to push that frustration back and...

"Are you planning to watch?"

Mephitis opened his eyes and then tilted his head so he could look at Aella. One brow arching in confusion while his lips parted slightly. Had she just asked him that? He had seen her completely naked so many times now! She use to bounce around in almost nothing when they were back at the dorm. He stared at her for a few seconds longer before pushing off the bed and walking over to Aella. The dragon using his height as he stared down at Aella. An intense, chromatic gaze looking down into those stormy eyes before snapping to the shirt for a brief second. "Getting shy on me or were you asking for some help? Cause I'll happily take that damn shirt off you."

Aella’s breath caught in her throat as Mephitis closed the distance between them, his towering presence overwhelming her senses. The heat radiating off him brushed against her skin, sending a warm, tingling sensation through her body. Her pulse quickened, her lips parted, soft and glistening in the low light, as if silently beckoning. The shirt she wore shifted, the expensive fabric clinging to her curves in just the right places, accentuating the smooth line of her waist and the delicate curve of her collarbone.

She tilted her head up, her silver and blue-green eyes catching the light, reflecting like the surface of a sunlit sea. Their depths swirled, drawing him in as her soft white hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her mouth opened but no sound came out, causing her to swallow thickly and try again. “I’m not shy,” she whispered, her voice barely more than a breath, the softness of it sending a delicate tremor through the charged air between them. She was clearly distracted though, the edge in her demeanor softening as he closed the distance. Aella’s breathless whisper lingered in the air for a moment before she blinked, gathering herself. Slowly, she straightened her posture, the subtle shift in her stance restored a glimmer of her usual confidence, her hips tilting slightly as her weight shifted onto one foot.

"I just don't think you can watch and not touch."

Excitement flashed in Mephitis' eyes as Aella's words barely made it past her own lips. The demi-goddess caught off guard by the dragon's sudden approach. As if he had pounced upon the poor girl when she was defenseless. It always riled him up when he got to see her like this. How that bratty nature could just fade away in one simple move from him and allowed Mephitis to see another side to her. It made him surge with confidence and energy, knowing that he had this kind of power over her. That blue-haired head leaning in closer as kaleidoscopic eyes stayed locked on hers. That tall, broad form overshadowing her so easily.

Suddenly, he stopped as she spoke up once again, his brow quirking just a bit. A smirk played across his lips as he reached up and grabbed onto the shirt himself. He couldn't stand that she was wearing it any longer, especially if she was going to talk like that. "You know what? You're right. I can't." Mephitis tugged at that shirt again and again. He really didn't care if he tore into the material or ruined it in some other way. All he cared about was Aella and having her to himself. If she didn't stop him, he'd remove it all and toss the shirt into any place he couldn't see it.

Aella blinked, momentarily taken aback by Mephitis's sudden shift from playful tension to outright determination. She’d half-expected him to lean in for a kiss, to close the gap that hummed with unspoken desire, or to let his dragon pride take up the challenge she’d offered. Instead, he was tugging at her shirt as if it were an enemy to be vanquished.

“What are you—” Her voice was a mix of surprise and incredulity, the teasing edge fading as a ripping sound echoed in the room. The fabric of her shirt was tossed carelessly into the corner of her closet, landing in a heap.

Aella stood there in the doorway of her closet, plush lips parted in mild shock. Without the shirt, she was practically nude, nothing on but the dusty-blue lace of her underwear. Cool morning light cast a soft glow on her fair skin, rendering the subtle contours of her body, the gentle arch of her back, and the graceful curve of her hips. Delicate highlights accentuated her collarbone, drawing the eye to the way the light caressed her skin, creating a gentle shimmer that drew the eye toward the supple swell of her breasts, tipped in a tannish pink.

“Mephitis!” Aella scolded, her eyes wide with disbelief and she crossed her arms over her chest, feeling oddly exposed from the way he had just tugged it off. “That wasn’t even mine!”

Had he allowed his emotions get the best of him in that moment? Yes. He would admit that to anyone who asked. That damn shirt had just been pissed him off more and more with every second that it rested on her form. It made him even angrier when she pointed out that it wasn't hers! As if that really ******** matter to him. Dragons placed so much importance on every little item there was in this world. What you had, what you hoarded, and what you wore. It all mattered. Right then, Aella was basically claiming she belonged to another to him. So, he kept his eyes looking away as he calmed himself. There was a sharpness in his gaze as he looked back to where he threw the shirt. A disdain that he didn't want to think was towards her.

When he was calm again, Mephitis slipped his hands around her hips and just held onto her for now. "You can take one of my shirts instead if you need one." His gaze so much softer now but still strangely intense. The determination to have her all to himself was there but the frustration and anger was wearing away. He tilted his head to one side and looked down towards her arms. "Thought you said you weren't shy?" The pads of his fingers pressing into the skin just a bit as he tried to pull her in. He was hoping to distract her from what just happened.

A flicker of irritation darkened her stormy eyes, a sharpness that hinted just how close she was to smacking him for his audacity. But as Mephitis’s hands settled firmly on her hips, radiating warmth, the tension in her face softened. Her chest tightened, caught between frustration and the magnetic pull of his presence. His touch sent sparks up her spine, her lips parting softly in a breathless, almost involuntary response. Despite herself, she leaned into him, drawn irresistibly to the heat that always surged between them. Dark lashes fluttered slightly as her gaze locked with his, the frustration in her expression now tempered by a simmering attraction she couldn’t fully suppress. A faint flush began to creep across her cheeks, betraying the internal struggle between her mind’s defiance and her body’s response. Even as she tried to keep her eyes hard, the growing warmth on her skin and the pulse flickering madly beneath his fingertips betrayed whatever attempt at composure she held.

A sharp retort was poised on the tip of her tongue but it faltered when she met his gaze. Instead she found herself captured by his gaze, utterly entranced, as if those swirling, chromatic irises had woven a spell around her. His eyes were like liquid fire, ever-changing, flickering with shades of blue, green, and gold that seemed to pulse with an energy all their own. She couldn’t tear her stormy gaze away, locked in the intense dance between their eyes. Her paused as if the very air around them had thickened and she was drawn deeper into the moment until the world outside of him blurred into nothingness. Aella wanted to be mad at him—really, she did- but the way his fingers pressed into her skin, the way his scent filled her senses, and that smoldering look in his eyes made it hard to remember why. Her arms, still crossed over her chest, tightened a little as if she were holding onto the last bit of restraint she had left.

"Why are you here Meph?" Aella asked though the question didn't come out as callous and off putting as she had intended. She wanted it to sound accusatory, distant—yet instead, it carried a note of longing, as if she wasn’t entirely sure she wanted him to leave at all.

Those fractured, crystalline eyes had never left his mind for the past year. They were the last thing Mephitis saw when she ran out to him that day. How those colors, cracks, and power within them were washed away within a sea of arcane-blue. In visions and dreams, he saw them again and again. It rocked him in such a horrid way as he blamed himself for losing her. However, she was here now. She was alive. Those gorgeous eyes drew him in further and further with every second that passed between them. A sweet vanilla scent that had teased him from the very moment he had met the girl. He could tell that she was mad from the look in her eyes but there was still a longing there as well. There had to be. Didn't she want this as well? Didn't she miss him just as he missed her? Without even knowing it, Mephitis' head dipped down lower and lower. It tilted ever so slightly to the side as he actually readied himself to kiss her. Although, she'd stop him with her next question.

Mephitis pulled back just a bit. His hot breath washing over her as he considered her question. The only reason he had to think about it was because he had prepared such a cute way to reveal the answer to her. However, nothing ever went to plan with her. His lips pressed together into a playful smirk at that thought. He then refocused as a more serious look crossed those handsome features. His strong frame pressing up tight against her form as he said, "I want you back." There was no mixed emotions or uncertainty within those words. Mephitis was confident and firm. He was stating a fact. His gaze never straying from her own. That same longing within those ever-shifting irises. Why that look was so determined was clear now. She was now his singular and most important goal.

“I... I don’t know Meph,” she managed, her voice a shaky whisper, barely audible over the thundering in her chest. He had always known how to unravel her, to peel back her defenses with a look, a touch. What if she allowed herself to get close, only to feel that same crushing void tear them apart? Her body betrayed her, leaning just a fraction into his warmth, drawn instinctively to the safety and comfort he provided. Her muscles tensed, her chest tightening painfully. She had feelings for him, but she had spent so long moving on them and locking them behind the iron walls in the depths of her heart she didn't know if she could let them out again.

Her fingers twitched, hand nearly moving as if to touch him, only to tightened back around her arm. The scale he had given her glinted in the morning light, winking at him from where it dangled on her wrist. She cast her gaze away. "I don't think being in a situationship is good for me right now, I'm trying to get my life together."

I... I don’t know Meph

Those bright, chromatic eyes dimmed just a little as he heard those words. Yes, he had prepared himself to hear them over and over again. He even worried that she might outright reject his advances. Still hurt though. To know that he wasn't a certainty within her heart was something that killed him within. How could she hold onto him like this? How could she allow him to pull her in and see her at her most vulnerable if she didn't know about them? There was something there that she was just refusing to accept. A final obstacle that he so desperately wanted to breakdown so they could finally be together.

His jaw tightened as he tried to think of what to say next. What words could he say that would reassure her? This was the best chance they had if they wanted to start something. There were no nobles to placate, traditions that they needed to uphold, or a bloodthirsty court that they needed to tread within. It was just them now. His eyes pulsed through a shimmer of pink, violet, and blue as he looked over to her wrist. His scale. She still wore it even after all this time. To him, it signified that there was still hope. Part of her wanted more just like he did. All he had to do was continue to push forward and bring it out. Although, that would be a bit hard when she decided to say the dumbest things ever.

Those soft, caring eyes suddenly shifted to a look of pure confusion as he blurted out, "What?" His tone showing that she had genuinely stunned him for a second. "W... What the h... What exactly is a situationship?" That was the first time ever he had heard that word. Was it even a word? His mouth hung open and brow arched as he waited for Aella to explain this ridiculous word to him.

His sudden question caught her off guard, and she blinked, staring up at him as if she hadn’t heard right. A wave of awkwardness washed over her, the heat rising in her cheeks as she realized he genuinely had no idea what she was talking about. Her stormy eyes darted around the room, her lips parting slightly as she tried to figure out how to explain it to him.

“A...situationship,” she started slowly, “It’s...uh, like, when two people are...kind of together, but not really? Like... kind of friends with benefits but acting more like a couple, but also not being a couple... like how we were before."

Meph's face
Mephitis' brow furrowed as he watched as Aella's cheeks started to turn redder and her eyes looked anywhere but him. Was it a bad thing? Had she just admitted that they were some toxic couple? That couldn't be it, right? It hadn't been the best since neither were willing to take that next step but their relationship had been the only good thing to come from those days. Well, at least he didn't need to think up insane answers for long. It took a bit but Aella laid it out to him rather clearly. People acting like a couple but not officially calling themselves a couple. His brows lifted and he slowly nodded along. That was a fair assessment. They really never made put any labels on what they had. Although, Mephitis wanted to near the end.

Those chromatic eyes dipped down to the scale again. That singular item was proof that Mephitis wanted something more official. A dragon didn't give their scale away on a whim. He then looked back up at Aella and asked, "I want it to be official this time. No uh... Situationship." That word sounded so strange. Suddenly, Mephitis felt his own cheeks starting to burn as he realized what the next question was. The dragon suddenly taken back to highschool as he stood there awkwardly against Aella. He swore he could feel his mouth running dry. They had been together for so long. Why was this making him nervous? "So, you want to be girlfriend and boyfriend then?" Holy hell. Was he that nerdy, fluffy idiot from way back when?
