Personality: Where Minke is quiet and not intrusive, the same can't be said for his sister. Meine goes at the beat of her own drum, often chasing impulsively after something that has caught her eye. Usually this is some skill that she is suddenly interested in learning, that she will devote much of her time to until she learns it to the level that satisfies her. She is not out to become a master of one thing, but to dabble in many. It matters not if the one teaching her thinks she's finished her training or not. Once she's bored of it, once she's learned everything from it she's wanted to, she moves on. Never a long look back at anyone who becomes annoyed with her behavior. Apologetic, sure. But she never feels guilty about it. Life is too short to stick to one thing for the rest of your life. Or two. Or three. One should experiment as much as possible. How else are you supposed to know what you want to do? What you like? There seems to be a never-ending list of things Meine likes. How is one supposed to choose?
Regardless of her rather selfish attitude, the hybrid shares a very close connection with her twin, viewing Minke as someone much younger than herself and making sure to protect him. She would often do this growing up, standing nearby while strangers would tell him stories, pretending not to listen too hard to them herself in order to focus more of her attention on watching over Minke. This can cause her to become a bit overbearing and bossy with him, believing she knows what is best for him despite his protests.Facts:

~~~~~ Up To PrenticeElolaya was a young Wind woman doing as most of her tribe did. She was traveling around, never staying in one place for longer than a few months. For the first 16 years of her life, she did this within Sauti, following her parents around as they moved to make the most of what little the land provided for them. But after a while she grew tired of seeing the same scenery over and over. She knew there were other lands out there, all very different from her own. She wanted to see how the other people of the world lived and what their wilderness looked like. She longed to see the giant trees of Jauhar. The miles of desert in Oba. The snows of Zena. So after much packing and planning, she set off on her own, starting with Jauhar and sweeping her way back east, where she boarded a ship to cross the ocean to Belrea. She intended to sweep all along the continent, than go down south to Po'lua. But something else happened that she hadn't planned for. She met a farmer named Ballas and fell in love.
Ballas was the youngest of a group of five kids. Two of them had moved on to work in the bigger cities, not interested in continuing the work of agriculture. The other three had stayed, intending to all work together as a unit working the land. The eldest of the three who stayed back was already married with two small children, while the second youngest appeared to be on the way to marriage herself. She was being courted by a neighbor's boy, for the past year or so. Ballas was content to work the land, ignoring the interest anyone was giving him.
Until Elolaya.
At first, he wasn't too interested. His parents had offered her a spare room to stay in while she experienced their part of Belrea. Unlike most people who were interested in the stranger, he avoided her, clearly not interested in meeting anyone. It wasn't the first, and certainly wouldn't be the last, time his parents had offered a room to a traveler. Ballas wished they were a little more cautious, but what could you do? They were the adults, they made the rules. He put himself into his work to vent off any frustrations over it.
Elolaya became intrigued by this quiet boy her own age and made it a point to try and talk to him. She soon lost track of time in her task, managing to make him open up little by little to her. Over time, they grew closer until one day they realized they had feelings for each other. And that she'd been living with them for over two years, without any thoughts of moving on. They were marred soon after, his parents wondering why it'd taken them so long to notice something everyone else did. A year later, Minke and his twin sister were born, both favoring the pale skin of their mother with the pale hair and eyes of their father.
For ten years, the family was happy. No more children were born and Elolaya took to motherhood like she did everything else, with enthusiasm and hardwork. But as the kids grew older and needed her less and less, she became restless. The wanderlust was still in her veins. This carried over to her children, with her son enjoying listening to stories from different travelers, especially about the ocean, to her daughter, who dreamed of someday seeing distant lands and learning about the different skills that existed out there. She didn't enjoy farm life quite as much as her twin did, often complaining about it and disappearing into the woods or into the nearby town to watch adults at work. She'd return home with tales of the things she had seen, often getting a scolding or grounding from her parents for wandering so far away at her age. This never detoured her from trying, often sneaking away after the family left to do work around the farm. No amount of getting caught in the act could stop her.
When Ballas packed up the family and moved them to Matori, to be closer to the ocean, Meine had never been more excited. Here was a new world she could observe and absorb. A new culture to learn. New skills to add to her growing list. Just like before, she spent more of her time away from home, while her brother was content to sit by the ocean or swim in its depths. He became more introverted and quiet, while she became the opposite, making friends easily with the Earthlings in the nearby town. If any were surprised by her fair complexion, she would proudly show it off. Maybe this was a trait that Minke eventually copied, as his own pale skintone started to show more and more in the light, breezy clothes he had started to adapt to wearing in the hot sun, mirroring her own choices at times.
But even a new land wasn't enough to fully satisfy the hybrid. Like always before, Meine started to grow bored of her surroundings, wishing to find something new to explore. The problem was, she was still rather young, too young to go far from home on her own. And her mother never stayed in one spot long enough, so Meine would never be able to take the time she wanted to learn something new. She decided to write to her uncle in Belrea and ask if she could visit with him for a year or so. He agreed and she left not long after. He lived in a different part of Belrea from the rest of the family and she hoped this would help her to discover new things, to scratch that ever-constant itch in her brain that needed to be filled with new knowledge.
