You’d be hard pressed to keep Mel away from a yoga event if it met exactly two criteria–it was free, and it was closer than the studio she normally went to when online sessions just weren’t cutting it for whatever reason. This particular event happened to meet both, so there she was, her gym bag and yoga mat slung over her shoulder while she waited in line to put her name down on the list for the next class.
Things had been more stressful of late. Maybe working two jobs–her day job, and of course her knight job (pun absolutely intended)–was just starting to take its toll. She wasn’t angry or frustrated or upset about it at all; she just accepted it for what it was now and did her best. Still, she both looked and felt exhausted, and while she was still able to keep it together well enough, today she was really hoping to be able to decompress.
She took a swig of water and glanced around, curious who else was all here. Tired as she was, that didn’t do much to keep her from being her cheerful self, and if nothing else it might cheer her up to make a new friend! Everyone who wasn't in line was standing pretty far off, prepping or just sitting and waiting for the class to begin, so she eventually turned to the woman behind her in line.
"Morning!" she said with a little wave and a small but bright smile on her face. “So are you a regular here, or just here for the event?”

Isolde turned to Mel with a warm smile. "Oh, I'm just here for the event," she replied. “I never did yoga before and wanted to try it out. Isolde glanced around the room nervously noticing how everyone seemed to be in their element while she felt like a fish out of water. The thought of contorting her body into strange positions in front of strangers made her stomach churn with anxiety. (71)

Oh, someone new to yoga! Mel brightened at the idea; in truth she was thinking these types of events were for people who were curious and wanting to see what it was all about without having to commit to anything, but the majority of people around seemed to be regulars. At the very least, they might have been regulars at the gym and may have dabbled via other similar events.
“Trying something new is always exciting,” she said, glancing in front of her and noticing that the line was moving up. She took a step forward before regarding her line-neighbor again. “Well, I hope you love it! I took a few classes before really committing to it, but now I totally love it. It’s meditative and keeps you in shape!”
Another glance forward, another step forward.
“My name’s Mel, by the way.” She offered her hand as part of her introduction, her smile a bit bigger now.

Isolde's anxiety began to ebb away as she returned Mel's smile and firm handshake. "Nice to meet you, Mel. I'm Isolde," she replied, the warmth in Mel's demeanor easing her nerves. As they inched closer to the sign-up table, Isolde found herself feeling grateful for Mel's friendly presence. It was comforting to have someone to chat with in this sea of unfamiliar faces. Isolde followed Mel's lead and jotted down her name on the list, feeling a surge of excitement at the prospect of trying something new. The two of them found a spot in the studio, laying their mats side by side as they waited for the instructor to begin the class. Isolde took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves as the room filled up with more people. She stole a glance at Mel, who seemed so at ease and peaceful, and she couldn't help but feel a wave of gratitude for the chance encounter that had brought them together. She wasn’t sure she would make any friends since leaving with her grandma here at Destiny City. She had promised her grandma that she would at least try to stay out of trouble. ((196))

Mel was happy to stick close to Isolde, wanting to be there in case she might want some help with anything. Trying something new could be intimidating, particularly if you were surrounded by people who did whatever it is regularly. If there was anything she could do to help someone new ease into Yoga, then she would.
Throughout the class Mel glanced over at her, offering what encouragement she could without interrupting the class. It was a good class, she thought; not quite geared for beginners but not too far off from that, either.
“So what’d you think?” she asked the other as they walked out of the class. She took a swig from her water bottle then, and stepped aside to let others pass them once they were outside of the classroom again. “Not too bad, I hope?”

Isolde smiled gratefully at Mel, her nerves having dissipated throughout the class thanks to Mel's friendly presence. "It was actually really nice," she replied, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I never expected yoga to be so... calming. I think I might just come back for another session." Isolde paused, feeling a newfound sense of peace settle within her. The weight of her responsibilities and anxieties seemed to have lifted, if only momentarily, and she found herself grateful for the chance encounter with Mel that had led her to this moment. As they walked out of the yoga event, the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow over the city. Isolde felt a sense of contentment wash over her, a feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time. She turned to Mel, her eyes sparkling with newfound excitement. "Thank you for bringing me here, Mel," Isolde said sincerely, a soft smile playing on her lips. "I don't think I would have had the courage to try it on my own." ((176))

Mel beamed at Isolde’s response, happy to hear that she had a decent experience for her first class. “I’m so glad to hear that! Yeah, it’s one of my go-tos when I need to relax, actually. Hopefully your other classes go just as well. And hey, if you ever need a buddy, let me know!”

its_ p a o Thank you for the RP. heart heart heart Mel's offer of friendship warmed Isolde's heart, and she felt a genuine connection with this kind soul she had just met. The idea of having a yoga buddy was surprisingly comforting, especially in a city where she often felt lost in the hustle and bustle. As they walked out onto the bustling streets of Destiny City, Isolde glanced at Mel with a newfound sense of camaraderie. She realized that sometimes, unexpected encounters could lead to the most meaningful friendships. With a smile tugging at her lips, Isolde said, "I would love that, Mel. Thank you for being so welcoming. It's not every day you meet someone as kind as you." And so, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the city lights began to flicker to life, two strangers turned friends walked side by side, their hearts a little lighter and their spirits a little brighter, all thanks to a chance meeting at a yoga event in the heart of Destiny City.
