Nacrite was Not Happy. She simply wasn't advancing in the ranks as fast as she would have preferred. Her General and recruiter had vanished, purification was suspected. And her weapon was a god damn slap bracelet. Wasn't no one going to take her seriously with that.
Overall, she was... discontented. And she couldn't really see a way forward out of the mess her extracurricular life had become. Short of Metallia suddenly granting her the rank of General Queen which was, if she were honest, extremely unlikely. She simply hadn't made enough of a name for herself.
She would have to change that.
And the power signature she was tracking might well be the boost she needed. Sure, it was stronger than she was, but who cared? Look at David and Goliath! Any sensible bookie would have bet it all on the big man and yet. The little guy had won. So she wasn't being wildly over-confidant. Anyone saying otherwise was just a Hater.
She could totally do this...

Niflhel felt the energy signature nearby his eyes shifted looking towards what he assumed was a negaverse agent. Small one at that. He wasn't really interested in battling but he was curious.
It'd been a while since he'd run into a negaverse agent. He sighed and leaned against a light pole. He figured they'd come to him though he wasn't sure as he looked towards the direction he thought they were coming from.
Indeed, it did seem like the other signature was getting closer. His hat was pulled down as he waited; "I see the negaverse is still active." Was the first words when Nacrite came into his view.
Well... s**t. Nacrite paused only briefly in her approach. Not only was the... knight? Knight. not surprised or worried, he was waiting for her. And very clearly Not Impressed.
s**t.
Still, no reason to let him see her at anything less than her most confidant self. Applying a grin that she didn't feel in the least, she sauntered closer, curiosity beaming from her. This was the first knight she'd ever met, after all. She wanted to see what the fuss was about.
"No reason for us not to be, sunshine," she replied, voice chipper. "Hrmm... you're very... goth, aren't you. This normal for your type or is it just a you thing?"
Why shouldn't the Negaverse still be active, after all? They were the only ones trying to actually change things.

Niflhel tilted his head and grinned lightly when the other said no reason for them not to be. "Ahh, I see. Probably still stealing energy and starseeds from the poor folks who haven't done anything either to deserve such monstrosity."
When she mentioned he was very goth and asked if that was normal for his type there was a chuckle. "Depends on what you mean by my type." He had summoned his chain into his hands still behind his back as he leaned on the tree.
"If you mean for a Saturn knight then yes." There was a pause, "What lies have they fed you to get you to join the negaverse?" He was curious to see what this one had been told and well, was also curious how much poking it'd take before the agent took a swing at him.
Still grinning, Nacrite assumed a pose that would have sent her studio underlings running for the hills. Okay, so not only was Mr Knight here not impressed with her, he was pretty confident on his own. So, not a lot of chances to intimidate or out ego.
Still, if he thought he could needle her into rash behaviour he... okay, he had a fifty percent chance, if she were to be honest with herself. But she wouldn't let him know that.
"And you're still lecturing and going all 'waahhhhh think of the ChIlDrEn', so I think we're even, sweetheart."
One arm crossed over her chest to support the other as she tapped her forefinger against her chin, deep in thought. Saturn knight? There were subsets of knights? Because that was sure what it sounded like to her. And each had their own... thing? Theme? Saturn was goth?
Fascinating.
And what lies had she been fed? Because not even she could deny that the biggest lie she'd been fed had been the Best Life Evaarrrrr pitch back in the day. If it was really so great, her General wouldn't be missing. But did that make it a lie or had the general simply been a pissy little candyass? Because, in spite of her frustration with lack of promotion, Nacrite ******** thrived in the Negaverse. And did this tall boi even deserve to know a word of what she'd been told right before that merciless hand had plunged into her chest and changed her forever?
Probably not. But she could have a lot of fun feeding him half truths and outright lies.
"No lies here, honeybunch," she said easily. "Things I was promised I got and I'm looking forward to bigger, better and brighter in the future. Gotta tell you though, the sneering self-righteous is ******** hilarious. You honestly think you've never been lied to by your crew? Amazing."
Since he'd already summoned a big damn chain to his hands, she saw no point in trying to be cagey about her own weapon. Besides, utter confidance would help offset the crazy discrepancy. Willing her slap bracelet into existence, she just grinned as she slowly and methodically slapped the thing against her wrist over and over and over.

Niflhel paused and looked thoughtful for a moment, "I didn't say anything about the children." This was said with a cheeky grin which was one of the few he'd allow himself to crack in an exchange.
The knight shook his head, "I'm glad you believe you got everything you was promised and I hope it's what you wanted but you're going to find that's not what you're looking for."
She thought he was ******** hilarious and he sighed. "So you are believing the twisted lies and half truths they feed you. I know my own side lies. Both do. And you're here with a. . . . pair of slap bracelets?"
He sighed, "Don't you think if they cared they'd give you a real weapon and not a toy?" Was he prodding her to see what she'd take -- probably. However he also wasn't interested in starting any real fight first it was unfair to her if for no other reason he was a knight she was still just a fledgling who probably could be saved if she wanted to be.
"I think you give the baby the chance to prove that they can handle the bigger stuff before you load them up with anything powerful, sweetie. You telling me that you got the big ******** chain first day?"
Thanks to scuttlebutt and just plain being nosy, she knew that officers like her got the baby weapons. Once she'd proven herself sufficiently, then she'd get something better. It was like an office environment. You started in the mailroom and worked your way up to the corner office. Feeling delighted with her comparison, Nacrite mentally filed it away. Something that good deserved to be kept for later use.
"Now a pair would be bangin', but it's just the one. And that's good enough for me," she said easily. "But let's backtrack a mo' before we get down to it. You're admitting that your side lies too. So why're your lies any better than mine?"
She gave the Saturn knight another once-over, this time, actually taking in how he stood, the ease he swung the chain with. She wanted good, solid facts to report. Though, she had no doubts that this guy was in the files somewhere already.
Well, whatever, she was getting bored. Coming to a decision, she nodded to herself before launching herself at the knight. She wanted to see what he could do and bantering wasn't going to get her that information.
"Come on, sweetcheeks," she called. "Let's dance!"

"Huh, well it got longer but I had the chain mostly the whole time." He said with a shrug, The shackle on the end was newish but he had kind of wondered lately if there was an issue with his chain something felt off to him.
"It'd be more intimidating if you had two." Granted what was she going to do - slap bracelet him to death? He shrugged softly when she said how are their lies any better, "Well . . .considering the lies don't directly kill people or yank their starseeds at least we're not out killing. The lies and bullshit I see from your side often leaves families broken."
She wanted to dance? His brow lofted as he stood there listening to her wanting to dance and he sighed, finally moving from where he was comfortable; he thought about hiding in the shadows. "We'll see how well you dance with shadows." Though not before she managed to connect a quick blow to his shoulder. Even if it didn't hide him well, he was sure he'd at least be more intimidating at this point.
"You've got a good swing." The knight sounded amused as he aimed his chain at her hoping to wrap it around either her arm or leg.
Aspect of Saturn
As servants of the planet of death, the ghost-like demeanor of Saturn Knights is incredibly fitting. They always appear somewhat cast in shadow and their movements are completely silent, making them masters of stealth.
There was only so much moralizing and sermonizing that she could take before it all started to sound like annoying white noise. It was the same with the critics of her show, really. Oh, but think of the cHilDrEn. When the children could support her a** financially, then she’d consider them. Until then, it was just a lot of pearl clutching.
She was pleased to feel her fist connect fairly solidly with the knight’s shoulder before he seemed to vanish into shadow. Eyebrow raised, she paused for a moment, more puzzled than anything.
“This a knight thing or a Saturn thing,” she said, on guard. “Probably Saturn thing since you said they’re all a bunch of goths. Nice touch, though. Very spoopy.”
Whatever she felt in her heart, Nacrite refused to show it in face or voice. And she wasn’t too alarmed. Yet. Instead, she listened hard and gnawed on her lip. Snorting a little at the sort of compliment, she turned, arms raised in preparation. Only for the knight’s chain to seemingly fly out of nowhere to wrap around her forearm.
Hissing, she forced a smile before quipping, “Ah. Power of jumpscares. How very gauche.”
Nacrite refused to let this man know how much he was annoying her.

Niflhel grinned, the agent seemed to be irritated. Good, there were some that were okay but generally he preferred if they all just purified and they could bring peace. He didn't need his nightmares coming true.
"I guess you'll find out eventually." He said tauntingly as he tugged at the chain wrapped on her forearm he used it to redirect her, since she was just a LT he didn't believe it would be a problem.
Also adding a quick sweep he aimed to pull her off her feet once she was close enough. "Yes we're very spooky, you know good party tricks to have at a Halloween party."
He'd encountered a few different scenarios and the more he used his chain lately the more something felt off but he couldn't think about that now. "So want to give up yet?" He was offering her a way out without just straight out battling her.
"You could have cool party tricks too that are much nicer than energy draining and starseed yanking." He added.
Knight Weapon - Thin chain, this can magically bind/redirect the target, however they won't latch if the target is out of range (more than 10 feet). This takes a lot of Niflhel's concentration for the shackles not to break, if he loses concentration they release the target. Also if the shackles are held too long (around 1 minute) or Niflhel gets tired they are easy to break free of. This attack slows/hinders most movement, Niflhel could also try to move/throw someone. However, this actually depends on how he's progressed since being a knight. It could be possible for Nifhel to move/displace/throw others around, this depends heavily on their current power stage as well as a few other factors (since Azzo isn't a weight lifter he might find throwing a big foot youma weighing 300 lbs a bit hard... this works best with anyone under Nifhel's current level). Throwing people/youma the chains unlatched as soon as they're thrown most of the time letting go when the mass is in mid-air.
Smile turning into something more resembling a rictus, Nacrite thought hard and fast. This knight was way above her pay grade as far as power went. She didn’t like to admit it, but this wasn’t a fight she could win as she was now. But neither could she just surrender. That thought was too galling.
So, she’d just have to be as much of a pain in the a** as possible and make this guy regret ever lecturing at her. She could do Annoying AF and do it well.
So. Chain. Distance weapon. Could be used in a devastating way, but this guy was holding off on anything truly nasty. But her arm was caught. Odds were he’d try to yank her around a bit. Therefore, she would make sure that she did, but on her own terms. Seizing the chain in both hands, Nacrite went boneless when she felt the pull. She could roll with however he wanted to toss her. It would hurt. It was so ******** annoying, but she could do it. And did.
Her ego would never recover from the bruising.
Taking a moment to brace herself, the lieutenant kept hold of the chain and yanked back as hard as she could. She didn’t think she could pull him off guard, but she wanted him to know, just a little bit, that she wasn’t going to play by his rules either.
“Oh my god,” she complained. “You are not turning this into a goddamned recruitment speech! What’s next? You’re going to magically blast In the Arms of the Angel into the night? Start taking donations to rehab officers? Just stop while you still have a shred of dignity.”

Niflhel was grinning as she complained, "OH In the Arms of Angel? That's a great suggestion. I'll run it by the office. I'm sure I can get the mauvians to help me build speakers so I can blast that for you next time."
It wasn't about dignity at this point, he found it was amusing and the LT yanking back on his chain; "Ah stop yanking my chain." The normally grumpy knight said before giving one stout pull to see how far she'd go.
"I feel like you're more in a master of puppets situation if you ask me." Weather she flew or not he could feel his magic weakening so he had to make his move now with that if he was going to do anything. Otherwise, it was fairly hand to hand from here on out he assumed.
In spite of her pulling, Nacrite had to admit, if only to herself, that this knight was much stronger than she was. And, much as she loathed his little play on words, he was right in a way. He was the master with that chain of his and there wasn’t much that she could do about it beyond making his life slightly more difficult.
She really hated having to be honest with herself at times like this.
Unfortunately for her, her wandering train of thought kept her from realizing that keeping her arms and hand tangled in the chain was a bad idea and when he yanked again, she went flying. Doubly unfortunate was the way that the chain wrapped around one hand was a little tighter than it should have been and she heard and felt a sickening snap as bones in her hand gave way to physics. Only just barely managing to keep her scream behind her teeth, Nacrite hit the ground hard, curling in on herself to cradle her hand.
Stupid goddamn knight, stupid goddamn chain, stupid goddamn her for not bloody thinking and letting her ego take the wheel for a hot minute. No, not her ego. Not quite. Her sheer, unadulterated annoyance with this man and his stupid quips and dad jokes. She’d let him get under her skin and now she was stuck in a fight with an injury she couldn’t compensate for.
s**t.
There was no help for it. She was going to have to tuck her tail and run and hope that this stupid, stupid knight was one of those soft types who’d let her stumble away.
Holding her hand close to her chest, Nacrite was somehow able to stagger to her feet, glaring daggers at the knight the entire time. She could feel tears coursing silently down her cheeks as every little movement jarred the bones. And those tears made her even angrier. She was showing weakness and it galled her. Doing her best to keep her face impassive (and failing), Nacrite simply began to walk. She’d have to pass by the knight and it was so much bullshit, but she would not give him the pleasure of speaking.
She didn’t know what she’d do if he refused to let her pass, but she’d figure that part out if she had to. Hopefully she wouldn't have to.

eldritch stardust
Sorry if this requotes again playing with front color. sweatdrop
He'd heard the snap when she went flying and her hand was tangled in the chain. Despite her being in the negaverse he still was concerned but since she was such a hard head he didn't let it show.
Keeping his face stone cold he watched her stagger up and try to hide the fact it hurt. He knew it had to hurt and he stood there watching her walk past. Considering he thought she'd done well and didn't stop her from walking away. He wasn't even watching her face.
When she passed, "I hope your hand feels better." He said softly before walking the opposite way and pulling himself into the shadows. He could be a jerk but when someone was hurt and had enough he knew when to stop. This wasn't the time to keep going.
"May we meet again sometime." He added right before he disappeared. How she took it, was up to her. But he kept his tone honest and sincere without the quips or dad jokes he'd been throwing earlier.
Something was bothering him though about his weapon as he looked at it before dismissing it.
For the briefest of moments, Nacrite was tempted to spin around and start turning the air blue with curses. He hoped her hand felt better? May we meet again?!? Seriously? The only way she wanted to see him again was in a bloody, crumpled heap and even then, only if she was the one getting to administer the beatdown.
Still, she managed to hold her tongue and keep walking. Her first stop would have to be the ER. Which meant that she would need to psych herself up a fair bit before turning back into Canary. Because she’d been around long enough to know that injuries that hurt while you were powered up would hurt even worse once you powered down.
She was going to need a minute to compose herself.
Once she couldn’t feel the knight’s aura any longer, she took a deep breath. The hospital wasn’t too far. She could totally do this. Powering down, Canary hissed and doubled over as her hand bloomed in fresh pain. Gritting her teeth, she forced herself upright and got walking. Nothing was going to get fixed if she dawdled!
