Name: Yseult Fiona Ceannas.
Nickname: Ysa (ees-ah, first syllable rhymes with “geese”), but only if you’re very close to her.
Gender/Pronoun: Trans girl, she/her.
Age: 18.
Birthday: September 23rd, 2005.
Sign: Virgo/Libra cusp. Wood Rooster.
Gemstone: Sapphire, moonstone, and lapis lazuli.
Blood Type: B-
Fav. Food: Sandwiches and other things she can eat on the go. Strawberries.
Hated Food: Pickles, overly sticky textures, oatmeal.
School: DCU. Major technically undecided, but her tuition is partially funded by a visual arts scholarship and Yseult will almost certainly get a BFA in illustration, comics art, or something similar.
Occupation: Part-time employee at a local-owned arts and crafts supply store. She also takes art commissions when she can.
Hobbies: i wanna be the very best, like no one ever was (Pokémon): Yseult loves Pokémon. No, really, she
loves it. She keeps up on the anime and any new manga releases (usually in episode/chapter binges), she collects assorted plushies and dolls (do you want to see her complete collection of Mimikyus dressed up as Eevee and its evolutions? or her five-foot tall Mareep?), she collects the trading cards (though she doesn’t play as much as she would if she had infinite time and infinite money), she has cosplayed as characters she loves from the series, and she draws fanart (she’s not a huge name by any means but she has followers who reliably comment on her stuff, so she’s happy). The thing that motivated her to get her sleep schedule together was that she wanted to catch little babies in
Pokémon Sleep, not any comments from her doctor or therapist about how getting enough sleep is good for you.
But of course, the games are always the most important thing with Pokémon, and Yseult is a huge fan of the games. To that end, Yseult has an old Gameboy Color, a Gameboy Advance, two Nintendo DS’s, and a 3DS that she keeps in good condition so she can play the older gen games when she feels like it. She has spent a frankly unconscionable amount of time using one of her older cousins’ old
Pokémon Colosseum pre-order bonus disc and an old GameCube to get several many free Jirachi into save-files of
Ruby and
Sapphire, then move said Jirachi through the generations of games until they finally get onto her Pokémon Home account, so she can move them around to her save files of Sword/Shield, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, and Scarlet/Violet. Her success in the PVP vs. battles has been kind of spotty because she still has a lot to learn, but she keeps trying.…… Do you want her to make up a six-member team for you based on your vibes? Because she would LOVE to design a team for you.
………Yseult really likes Pokémon, please come play with her.
worth a thousand words or something like that (Drawing/Illustration): On one hand, drawing is the pastime that Yseult turns to in order to chill out. It offers her peace of mind to pick up some pencils and a sketchbook, or her art tablet and the pen for it, then to just start making different ideas come to life. This often means character portraits (which usually start as attempts at figure/posing practice that pick up a personality somewhere along the line), or little comics of varying sorts. She also likes to illustrate her friends’ fanfiction (often for Pokémon, but she also ventures into other fandoms for them). On the other hand, illustration or comics art will likely be what her degree from DCU ends up being in. The prospect of making a living doing something she loves so much is both enticing and scary, so she might change her mind? But the only thing that excites her as much as drawing is Pokémon and she doesn’t know that any of the ways you can theoretically make a career out of that are “for her.”
front step, cha-cha-cha. back step, cha-cha-cha (Ballroom Dance): As a kid, Yseult did gymnastics but she eventually dropped out, feeling increasingly uncomfortable in the uniforms. Looking for something else to do, she eventually wound up in dance classes, and although she struggled with some aspects of them (like larger group performances), dance wound up sticking. Yseult has since found her real passion in ballroom dance, often on the competitive circuit (currently youth/juniors) but she’s perfectly happy with non-competitive exhibition dances. She still takes dance classes to keep in practice, but most of her rehearsal time is spent with her actual dance partners, working on their routines for the next competition or showcase. In order of preference, her favorite dances are the Salsa, the Argentine Tango, the Viennese Waltz, and the Cha-Cha, but she’ll put her heart into whatever she and her partner are dancing.
Virtues: no, no, no, people, let’s bring it OFF. (Mediator): Yseult doesn’t like it when people around her fight. She
really doesn’t like it when people around her fight. Please, guys, let’s just tone down the volume and talk to each other like civilized people who don’t want to hurt each other or anything? When tempers start flaring around her, Yseult’s impulse is to negotiate with people, to pacify them so nobody does anything they regret, to try and turn down the heat before somebody gets hurt. Come on, guys, please just work with her about this? She’s sure that if we all work together and speak to each other directly but considerately, we can work out
something that makes fighting unnecessary!
why can’t we be friends? (Friendly): Social situations aren’t always Yseult’s favorite places to be. She can get overwhelmed by them, especially when tensions are on the rise and people are in conflict with each other. But even if she’s stressed out in a social situation, Yseult tries her best to be kind and nice to other people. She comes on warm, with a big smile and a compliment about your outfit or your bag. Please tell her about your interests. Wow, she never heard about that, it sounds fascinating, would you like to tell her more? Yseult figures that if she’s stressed out, someone else probably feels the same way and needs somebody to be kind to them, so she tries to show them that kindness and put people at ease.
nobody said life was fair, but don’t you think it *should* be? (Fair-Minded): Yes, okay? Yseult knows perfectly well that life isn’t fair and that nobody ever promised that it would be. She knows that complaining
“But it’s not FAIR!!!” makes her sound like a child. She can even tell you exactly what kind of cognitive distortion this is because her therapist has called her out on it enough for the lesson to stick (the Fallacy of Fairness, nine times out of ten, but in some situations, it can also veer into the Just World Fallacy or the Fallacy of Heaven’s Reward). But in her mind, just because the world
isn’t fair doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t work to make it so. People who do good things for others should have more good things happen to them. People who need help should get help, without that need being held against them later. People who are hurting should get comfort—and as much as she can, Yseult tries to live by these ideals and treat people fairly.
roll up your sleeves and apply a little elbow grease (Hardworking): Nothing about being asked to put in some effort scares Yseult. It’s not always her favorite thing to do because being fair, some jobs are hard because they’re tedious and mind-numbing, or require her to make a lot of phone calls and/or navigate the bureaucracy of health insurance. But the work needs to get done sooner or later, right? If it doesn’t get done, then bad things will happen, or at least, good things won’t have a real chance to happen. Yseult realizes that this might ruffle some feathers, but she really likes it when good things happen, and she wants to do her part to make that happen. If that takes knuckling down and doing difficult tasks, or sustained effort and practice over a long period of time, or
whatever, it doesn’t matter. She’s 100% in. At least this way, she can do
something, jeez!
Flaws:i don’t know, okay? i really don’t know!! (Indecisive/Hesitant): When put into complex situations, Yseult tends to freeze up and dither until someone else decides what to do. There’s a reason why she prefers Pokémon to RPGs where player choices actually matter like
Dragon Age,
Fallout, or
Baldur’s Gate: she doesn’t like making choices and she is very afraid of negative consequences. She’ll step in to mediate with people, but when she does, she always tries to push for others to make the final decisions or at least tries to build
their ideas into something else so
she doesn’t need to have the ideas. What if she has a bad idea and she screws up everything? What if she says the wrong thing and makes somebody totally
hate her? What if she does things too well and people get their hopes up about her and she lets them down later because she can’t live up to the idea of her they have in their head? She doesn’t know, okay! She really doesn’t know!
please, please, please do not go (Clingy): Yseult is strongly prone to people-pleasing behaviors, tying herself up in knots to make others happy. This becomes more pronounced with the people whom she considers
*Her* People, but even with people she’s just met, she prefers to tell them what she thinks they want to hear in order to make them like her. She thrives off validation and she thrives off feeling like she belongs with other people, so she tries to make people happy even if it means making herself miserable, keeping quiet about her own needs, or swallowing her objections to an idea that everybody else thinks sounds great. She’d rather go along with a questionable plan than be alone again.
inside each and every one of you, there is a winner waiting to emerge (Competitive): Yseult does not like losing. She tries not to be a sore loser in the sense where she lashes out and makes it everyone else’s problem, but she is undeniably a sore loser in the way where she beats herself up about how somebody else did better than her. Doing good enough and getting the validation from praise for a job well done? That’s nice and Yseult
does enjoy it……but she likes
winning even more, and she knows it. When she’s in competition mode, whether preparing for a competition or actively engaging in one, it’s extremely difficult to get her to care about anything else. No, no, no, she needs to work extra hard so she can be ready to
be. the. best. Second place is for losers.
“Runner up” is as backhanded and insulting as
“Well, bless your heart~” with a passive-aggressive smile. She wants to
win, okay? She
needs this.
have you ever once in your entire life considered chilling out a little? (Dramatic): To answer that question: yes, Yseult has considered chilling out a little………and then she threw that idea in the trash and decided that it wasn’t happening. Yseult has a lot of feelings, all the time, though she tamps them down
a lot because she thinks that seeming demure and sweet makes people like her more. On the inside, though, this little lady is an emotional hurricane. Perceived insults get taken very seriously and taken to heart. Anything that
can kill her vibe will probably succeed, and if she isn’t loudly upset in the moment, she’s definitely going to pull out her art tablet and make some emotionally charged vent art about it. When she’s with people she deeply trusts, her dramatic tendencies come out more, with Yseult feeling more at ease to whine, complain, pace around while venting about a nothing-burger situation like it’s the end of the world, etc. But for most people, she will probably force a smile and make herself act demure and unbothered in a way that screams
“I am killing you in my brain.”PHYSICAL DESCRIPTIONEyes: #005736. Dark green, big and attentive. Glasses.
Hair: #F9A4DA. A soft, rosy shade of pink. She likes wearing it in heart-shaped space-buns with some hair left loose, hanging down to about her shoulder-blades.
Face: Delicate, sort of androgynous as yet. Usually free of makeup other than chapstick because she can draw it perfectly fine on a character, but she’s not sure how to bring that to life on her own face.
Skin Tone: #FEE7EF. Freckles.
Body Type: 5’7”. Sort of skinny—not overly so. She hasn’t even been on estrogen for a full year, and she’d really like to fill out more? But she’s not sure how that’s going to go or not.
Clothes: Colorful and cute. Cardigans, skirts with suspenders, a lot of Pokémon merch shirts to the surprise of no one, but also other kinds of wearable Pokémon merch (dark purple patterned leggings with Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar; skater skirt with a pattern of Eevee and its evolutions; hair ribbons styled to look like Sylveon’s ribbons; hooded onesie pajamas with a pattern of Snom and Frosmoth; pink sleep shorts with a pattern of Wooloo; thigh-high socks in the mint green and lavender colors of Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash with splash art of the pretty ponies; etc.). She definitely owns a crop-top (with a pink chest-bow) and a matching fluffy tutu-skirt that looks like
Pop Star Pikachu.
