Firework Flowers (13) : A rare and unique breed of flowers that blossom into long, stiff-stamened, spherical orbs like those of the blossoming Powder-Puff flowers are on full display in Destiny City. A unique hybrid of several species, these plants were being engineered at a small landscaping company. While they were only meant to exist in their private greenhouse as they continued development, a simple accident resulted in thousands of seeds spreading across Destiny City. Thankfully, the Firework Flower is a beautiful, albeit temporary addition. The stems grow rapidly and look like tall blades of grass until the week before the flower blooms; the bulb is hardy and opens overnight to reveal the beautiful firework flower, which can be found in almost any color. However, unlike normal Powder-Puff flowers, when these flowers are jostled they explode in a burst of colors. Whether it is a simple touch or a strong breeze, these ‘Firework Flowers’ seem to burn up from the center of the flower outwards. It creates a beautiful display of light–especially at night. Scientists describe it as a harmless chemical reaction and encourage everyone to appreciate the flowers while they are here. The dust from an explosion can carry on the wind and will glow for a few hours after the reaction. The explosion cannot harm anyone and poses no danger to anyone.
Alastor had spent the last few hours with Eupheme and Paradise. During the Star Festival, there was always plenty to do and Devyn had really only scraped the surface of it this year and in previous years so he was glad to have Claire and Abby’s experience to make the best of it. Michael was busy with the Reids, working through some school planning thing. He didn’t entirely understand but he knew the three of them were very invested in making sure their students were well taken care of and they all took great efforts to give them the most meaningful experience.
Atticus and Elliot were on a date.
Devyn certainly could have tagged along with Michael but he thought it was good for him to get to spend some time with his friends without having to worry about entertaining him, too.
Besides, Devyn was in very good company. They’d enjoyed the sights around town, gotten a few snacks, and then they’d gone to a comfortable place in the park, a bit away from everyone, and powered up to spar a bit.
Well, most of it was playing around, but there was some seriousness to it. Eupheme was small and fast and Alastor wanted to teach her some of what he’d learned as a young Senshi. Paradise could probably talk herself out of making any enemies, but Alastor enjoyed all sorts of sparring–and she was very good at cheering Eupheme on.
They were taking a small break to rest and refresh themselves, but something in the distance kept catching Alastor’s attention. A frequent, vibrant flash of light.
“Paradise,” he asked, because she was very educated and never minded his questions. “What is that over there? Not sparklers,” he deduced. The wind blew and another pretty explosion of light flashed and carried on the breeze.
