Idly they waited for the most important news. They were quite trying to make a fun holiday out of it. Thoraka had visited but he was insisting on staying at the beast ranch in Matori for some reason. Hopefully this meant he had finally found a friend or some such. The problem being that neither she nor her mate took waiting well.
"Care to hunt with me my love? They will leave a message if they come while we are out or send someone else. They know we are here and waiting. I just can't tale the wait anymore, it is driving me crazy."
Excess energy being all the harder to get rid of. Not as common as when they were younger but of course they were still in their prime. And he looked so good. It would do them well to get out, if just for a few hours. Then she was sure she could again be good and wait. Earthling mothers must feel this anxious waiting time too. Mother Aisha had liked them enough to give them Thoraka. They had not changed for the worse.

"Aye, I was hoping you would come up with something." He could only spend so many days waiting before he wanted to pull at his own hair. "I miss the wind."
They prepared quickly for the hunt. And soon enough they were out the door and striding up the path. He already felt better, besides this would be what they would do on a vacation anyway. Hunting was a vacation from fishing after all.
"Ahh, he gasped with relief. "This is so much better. He reached for her hand. This early in the track seeking phase they need not be too serious. "Jauhar is so beautiful this time of year." He said, staring pointedly at her instead of the scenery.
As always when he was on land, he missed the sea. But a larger part of him though that this time with her was a wonderful magical gift. All the better that this wild as the forest, deep as the sea love might just bear them fruit.
He wondered which gender Aisha would chose this time. He didn't particularly care which... he just wanted to know. It was always a neat surprise. Crud he would have to think of a few name ideas.

She too was greatly enjoying herself. Kellye had a sort of magnetism for her that he didn't even realize he exuded. Her heart still leapt every time he gave her a smile or Aisha forbid one of those steamy moody looks he sometimes got. Mmm! He was a good looking man and he was as always all hers. She was still grateful that they had met so long ago. And to think how big the jungle was she could have missed him so easily. Well healed, their lives had been all the richer since.
The bobbled at the ends of her dreads tinkled faintly as she crossed a log. She would have to be much quieter, quite soon. It was the mark of a skilled huntress to adorn herself with noisy things. It upped the skill level required. In reality she had just not wanted to let go of his warm blue hand.
They were so very in love. It grew deeper by the day, thicker than blood. Add that to the love they gave their son and they were doing quite well. There was always more love though. She kissed his hand and let it go. Eyes sparkling, she had seen something.

He could tell by the sudden alert sparkle in her eye that she had some sort of lead. He followed her until they picked up the tracks of a deer. A suitable take, it would make a great feast if they could land it.
He grinned the grin that she loved so much and they moved forward, seeling and locating further deer sign. It took a while to catch up. They had to go slow so as not to spook the very prey that they worked so hard to find. They both carried hunting bows. Whoever was in the best position would take the shot. It was an honor to hunt with the twoman who took the time to fish with him. Out of her element though she was he could tell that she loved the sea.
She was simply more at home in trees than on the ground and ti was very fun as always to see her in her true element, the jahaur jungle. They readied their bows and took their positions. The scat was fresh, the animal must just be over the next rise. He was eager but the main part of his mind was calm. If he got to excited he shook and it would skew the shot.

They crept over the slight rise and took aim with their bows. She made a bird call telling him to take the shot if he had a good vantage point. She was a very fair hunter. If he had a better chance at a clean kill, he should take it. If his position had a disadvantage of any kind he would signal back to her. Nothing came so he would take the shot. The silence stretched and she had to call on her inner huntress for the patience to just wait there.
He would wait for the exact right time, just as she would. She waited and listened. The birds carried on their avian nonsense not bothering prey or predator.
Unseen to them both, a shadow lurked, also waiting for the right moment to strike. This was his territory these deer his prey, these two legs intruders.
He pointed his snout into the wind and listened and waited. He was patient, he would win this.

Finally the target moved into the perfect position, he pulled back the bowstring, aimed, exhaled and let fly strike. He had done it! As they both broke cover he could hear Zuella's cheers. They said the hunter's prayer and were just about tto hug when a huge teal male radaku picked up their venison in its jaws. Whell this had been unexpected. He chirped a query at Zuella. What should they do?
He advanced, and she answered back in agreement. He would not steal their prey so easily.
Elsewhere a runner was heading at full speed to the hybrid village where their base was at the moment with the fortuitous news they had been hoping for.
They chased the radaku long and far. They were pushed to their limits when finally they had it cornered in a dish shaped rock formation. It was a strong critter to have taken its prey this far at that speed. He was impressed. Perhaps they would benefit from a critter friendship if they could. He was a fine hunter. It would make procuring meat for themselves and him that much easier to work together at some point.

He finally stopped moving. Good, they would get their dinner back one way or another. They kept getting its attention, back and forth, harrying it and making noise. Eventually in a signature scissor movement they were able to distract it enough that she could get a lasso aroudn the head. After that, they at least had some measure of control over the wild radaku. He was huge, "Wonder why he doesn't have a pack? He is big enough and strong enough to lead a big pack." She shook her head. Now they could get their carcass back. "Gave us quite the workout he did."
"You know I think we should keep him, he fought hard for this carcass, once trained he would make a wonderful pet I am sure of it."
She was want to adopt anything right now. All of those motherly instincts, she wished her son were here to help, but they would be together again soon enough. At least they would go home to him with something, maybe more than one something if they were very lucky.

"You would want to adopt him, nasty temper and all." He was grinning, she would know he was teasing her. " I have a sneaky suspicion you are right too, can't have too many guardians at home while I am out fishing, and he is huge! Anyone would think twice before messing with this teal boy. I can take him to Ushiwa and see about a base training for him then we can continue it ourselves. It always made me nervous, going away on a long trawl when Thoraka was small, now he would probably scare the robbers while you kicked their butts."
The lands were more peaceful now, but some feelings one never forgot, like that particular brand of lonliness. He shook his head, now he had married a fine warrior. She could defend herself and their children he had married a real warrior, which she had a gentle spirit that did not apply to anyone who meant her and hers harm.
"Alright, I had been thinking along the same lines, lets keep him. Maybe he will get along with Thoraka."

Pulling and tugging they brought their new companion with them.
"He is rather a handsome critter, I like the sky blue spots with the dark teal of his coat." She grinned at her mate, "Also so many teeth." She made a face, canines sticking out
"I suppose he will need a name won't he? You helped catch him why don't you pick it this time?"
Names had power and this was an exceptional, rare specimen. And Kellye was special too so why not? This critter was downright beefy but it was spread well across a tall frame. He would hurt if he collided with them, might even bowl Kellye over.
"Cheer up old fellow, you will come around when we feed you I am sure. Food works so well on so many beings."
They ate all kinds of things as a family, fish, fowl, game ect. Eggs they were all big fans of eggs. They worked hard to source only the best food. There was something special about meal times with a close knit family. She adored every minute of it.

"A name huh?" He examined the newest pet. Who seemed to slowly be getting used to his new situation.
"I am not sure I know him well enough yet to give him a name." He smiled. "I'll let you know when I find it."
They tracked all the way back to the house with their prey and the radaku in tow. Upon arrival they stowed the radaku in the small attached barn. He busied himself rootling around in the hay looking for mice. They processed the deer and made a small ceremony of feeding their new friend the heart and liver of the beast in thanks for his new friendship which he was slowly coming around too, they had won he had no idea why they wanted to be friends with him but that was definitley what the liver and heart of their kill meant. Perhaps he was forgiven from stealing it after all.
"Good to see that he is having a good time now. I have no idea where his pack is. Perhaps something happened to them" He frowned, the jungle was a rough place even for its predators.

They heard a knock at the door some time later, her eyes shot to her mates as she got up. "Probably just the neighbors after a cup of honey again." Reguardless both of them slunk toward the door like their visitor might easily be scared away. Hearts racing, him by her side, she opened the door to reveal...indeed the neighbor. She felt Kellye throw up his hands and giggled. Promising the kid a cup of honey she bustled away to get it. At some point their neighbors would need to go to the market or there would be no sweetener left in the neighborhood.
She rolled her eyes and laid a hand on the door, "I had thought.. oh well, it doesn't matter."
She shook her head, "Maybe..maybe we were not successful." She choked back what was nearly a sob. She didn't want to think that way but well it seemed like it wasn't going to come that they would wait here endlessly and who knew how long it would take to try again.

"Don't loose faith, we haven't given away all of the sweetness yes, Aisha loves you, she will have heard." If Aisha loved her like he loved her he had no worries. Akuna Matata. They stood there together on the interior threshold.
Abruptly another knock sounded. "Perhaps they are out of flour too?" He asked a bemused look on his face. What uncoordinated neighbors they had. She opened the door again and they both looked up this time to see a very tall sister smiling upon them from the doorstep.
"Congratulations Zuella my sister and Kellye was it?" She asked politely. "Mother Aisha has granted the two of you a bloom to celebrate your love and committement to each other, may you take great care with the child bestowed upon you after blooming and do Mother Aisha proud."
Of course they invited their visitor in and plied her with drink and treats to take back to her family or eat herself if she was of that bent. It looked like she would need the fuel to move that tall frame back up to Aisha.

She may have squealed loudly, hugging her mate, hugging the messenger and dancing around right there in the doorway. She wiped away tears.
"I'm sorry, life doesn't get much more real than this."
She had wanted to be a mother again so bad, to have a very little that needed her very much. This was such a gift from the great Mother Aisha.
"Thank you Aisha, thank you."
After they had seen to their guests every comfort until she said she really must go, then they saw her off. They spent time together then, that special newly expectant time where life seems charged with electricity and time seems to speed up and slow to a crawl in the same darn moment. Some time later they went for a leisurely walk around the neighborhood. Everything seemed brighter and sharper to them like the world was in High definition. Each leaf a vibrant green, each branch representing family in her eyes. Life was grand, life was beautiful. Life was exceptional.
She took him and danced across the path with him.

He whooped and kissed her deeply, he was unable to wipe the silly grin off of his face. There was simply no other feeling like it. In their case it was a fruition of their love. They just had to work at it a little harder than a purely earthling couple.
The perk of that extra effort was to skip traditional labour. He was a great fan of that perk. He didn't want to imagine what it felt like for a regular couple. He shook his head, this was much better. Less, screamy.
Now all they had to do was wait as well as they could for the tree to nourish their new baby until it was able to be born into the world via its bloom opening. It was such a beautiful and spiritual process and it was so very moving. It was his and her child together.
He was overun with emotions and he wept, drank some tea and wept again.
"We did it, we are having another child. There was a lot of cuddling and hand holding and just plain old togetherness.
"Thoraka will finally have a sibling all of his own. Someone just like him. As close as can be." He smiled up at his mate.

They were both utterly awash in happy feelings, nothing seemed to penetrate the glow of joy that surrounded them. Mother Aisha had been so kind. They celebrated together in the night. Quite some time later they were notified to get closer as the bud was going to bloom very soon. Neither could go all the way but sisters would bring the baby to her, and she would take her duties from there. Oh joy of joys! She was so ready. Kellye would come with her as far as he was allowed and there he would wait for her. She would then go as far as she was allowed and then wait. She would finally get to lay eyes on the newest member of her family. The bloom was not yet quite open yet but her heart fluttered like it was.
She imagined little faces in her minds eye and smiled at the memories of her first son. Thoraka was such a lerfect blend of them. His fathers sting jaw her facial features. Beautiful yellow eyes. His fathers dashing blue two toned hair and her glorious skin. He was gorgeous and she was eager to meet the newest face. For now she took deep breaths and tried to stay calm.
