Quote: The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it’s incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.
One of Crisium's - well Zeke's - favorite part of the Star Festival was the meteor shower. It was always very pretty, and a good moment to just sort of stop and breathe. The weirdness that always came up around the Star Fest now had more context since he was given dominion over the Mare Crisium last year, but he was, generally, able to avoid most of it.
He was trying a little harder this year to keep in mind the Chaos that ran around and not just actively avoid the whole thing. He wasn't exactly much of a fighter after all. So he avoided most signatures of Chaos while he wandered about, and only really fought when they came to him.
How he stumbled upon an agent who just... radiated power was behind him but here he was. Frozen stiff. Staring at who was probably a general and very, very out of his league. He didn't even have a weapon that could do... anything except maybe poke his eye out. If he got close.
Oh crap.

Gismondine had gone for a walk by himself, and had gotten caught up in the meteor shower. It was stunning. But. When he teleported to a spot that was a little less filled with light pollution, he happened upon a Page. A green haired, scrawny thing who simply stared at him like Gismondine was the god damn kaiju of the world.
Which…
Honestly, made some sense, but he hated it all the same. It made him feel slimy and uncomfortable, and though he summoned his weapon, looking…kind of fierce, all things considered, he watched the Page with somewhat dull eyes. “I’m not sure you want to be around me. I kill Knights. You know.”
For all he knew it was the truth. Sure he had given the starseed back, but he had never…well. He hadn’t tried to find the girl again so…that was on him, a bit. Still. “Are you sure you want to just stand and stare at me?”

Okay that was a fair point. Why was he just standing there staring at this dude who apparently killed knights with the boredom of it being beneath him? Why couldn't he move, why couldn't he breathe, why couldn't he think!?
By the Moon, why was Crisium running at him now?!
Crisium let out a strangled, terrified cry and charged the general. He was in motion before he could really think about it, but maybe he could just catch him off guard and shove him over and then just run away?? Why wasn't he running away now!?
And then he flailed his very badly clenched fist at him with all the strength and coordination of a two month old kitten.
Crap!

Interesting. The boy was still running at him, and Gismondine looked, mildly…almost amused. When the Page was close enough, he summoned his kusarigama, and let him see just how sharp it was, before turning it over and hitting his head…not too hard with the skull on the backside of it.
The fist that the Page struck him with was…well. It hit his shoulder, but it seemed to almost bounce off like a stuffed animal thrown at a couch, and Gismondine chuckled, the amusement growing. “...You’ve got guts…? I suppose…I suppose that’s better…better than I was when I was first brought into the Negaverse. I was brought in to die, did you know?”
He wasn’t sure why he was saying this but.
“There was a mad Senshi going after the General who brought me in. And he made me a lieutenant so that I would be killed instead. But. He didn’t survive the night…and now I’m a General.”

Crisium's brain skitted to a whole stop. Not just because the pain that radiated through his skull and up his arm, but at Gismondine's words. He was... brought in... to die?
"... Wait.... wait, what? Someone brought you into the Negaverse just to use you as a scapegoat?!" asked the Page, blinking at him with shocked green eyes. That. That was absolutely terrible, even for the Negaverse.
"Look... Do you want to like... talk, instead? Do you need to talk? That sounds..." Crisium took a step and a half back, just to put a safe amount of distance between them (because that weapon could absolutely kill him in one shot) and held up his hands in silent truce. "Frankly, that sounds incredibly abusive, even for, well, your side."

“Um…y-yeah? I survived so…I mean…” Gismondine felt…confused right now. Off kilter. This Knight seemed like he was feeling…pity for him? But. That…
Wasn’t how this was supposed to go, and he stood up just a little taller. “Look. Just because…I lost. My first General…and Captain…and second General…I’ve still…I’m still strong. In spite of all of that. People have...have left me to die…f-fend for myself but…look at me!” He was strong! A general himself! He wasn’t going to vanish. Wasn’t going to disappear on his charges! He was…he was happy!
Strong!
“I think…you…you’re. Don’t you dare pity me, if that’s…what you’re doing right now. I don’t…don’t need it.”

Crisium held up his hands in front of him to be as nonthreatening as possible. "Hey, hey, look I'm not pitying you. I can feel how strong the Chaos is rolling off of you, dude. It just sounds like your side has been really... ******** cruel to you, and that sounds like it sucks." He kept his hands up and moved slowly.
He knew the words the General was telling himself - he'd told himself much the same as a kid after his mother found out about the bullying. He didn't pity the dude, he sympathized with him.
"I've been there, okay? I got bullied a lot as a kid; I mean look at me, I'm a walking punching bag with big round glasses to match. Just figured you could use someone to talk to about it all, that's all." It was one thing to be brought into power by a floating ball of light; it was another to be used as bait, with every intention to die.

Gismondine stared and for a moment, it looked as though he wanted to say something. As though he was going to relent and maybe talk...open up a little but…
He shook his head and gave what he hoped passed for a growl…and then teleported away.
He didn’t need to hear this. He didn’t need pity. Didn’t need understanding.
…Right now all he really needed was…
Well…to have a good cry, honestly…
