She had found a quiet spot, a rooftop. One that wasn’t so tall nor so short but it was the tallest of those surrounding it. It gave her the vantage point to not only observe the city around her, but also grant her a quick exit if needed. It wasn’t only for this reason that Ellicott had chosen this particular rooftop. Just one of many. Like the building being completely empty since it was a commercial building, like the others in this part of town, so no one would spot her and wonder about the strange woman on the roof. It also didn’t hurt that the building, a factory of some sort, was quite large and very flat. Other than the occasional aircon units, and stairwell accesses the roof was completely flat and empty. A perfect spot for practice.

It had been months now. Months of adjusting her speed and force but Ellicott was fairly sure she had figured it all out. No more concern that she would accidentally hurt someone, unless she meant to. No more worry about breaking anything without intent. Knowing how to fight also meant knowing how to control your strength and it had taken months of practice for Ellicott to feel secure in her new, ish, position of Super Senshi. No longer was she a chibi. She was faster and stronger then she had been. With her skill she was much more dangerous then she was as a chibi.

Much, much more dangerous. Hence the need to practice.

With that in mind the young woman stretched, working out the tight muscles in her shoulders and legs. Once that was done she started to ‘dance’. Her movements were fluid and graceful. An odd combination of kicks, flips, and spins. Her sash flicked behind her even as her shoes slid across the asphalt tiles. There was no audible music, only the sound of a small bell chiming, but anyone could tell that Ellicott was following some kind of tune in her head. Her moves quickly picked up pace, the strikes coming faster and faster. Raising to a crescendo and with a final, flashy roundhouse kick, the senshi came to a slow stop, her breathing slightly labored even as she wiped a glow of sweat off her forehead.

It really was quite different to go all out with as much speed and force as she wanted, without fear of hurting anyone.

With a sigh the young woman turned towards a shadowy corner and just raised a brow. “Well?” Her tone was a bit cool but there wasn’t hostility behind it. There was no need for it, it wasn’t like the person here was an agent of chaos. Her aura sensing wasn’t that bad! Ellicott grabbed a bottle of water from her bag, ignoring the jiggling from her little Fuchsia star charm’s bell that she had secured to her bag. “What did you think?” She couldn’t help but ask, a slight grin tugging at her lips even as she opened her water and started to drink.

She was curious to see what her observer thought. It wasn’t very often she got an audience after all, at least not one that wasn’t trying to kill her that is.

Ellicott looked over at the young boy who stepped out of the shadows, absently noting his ‘uniform’. It was a stretch to call it that really since it looked like one of those pajamas that have become all the rage the last few years. Hood and all. And yet she still knew it was a uniform because of the aura. The clear whitemoon aura he presented. A chibi. Like she had been all those years ago.

“Meteor shower?” She questioned for a moment before it hit her. “Oh yes, I forgot that it was tonight. This rooftop is actually perfect for it isn’t it.” The young woman smiled and thanked her unintended audience for his compliment. “Thank you. It's a mix of several styles that I’ve learned over the years.” A mix of dance, kung-fu, self defense, and capoeira. A rather strange mix really but it worked for her. The capoeira is the newest style she was mixing in and she was still working on it. Slow and steady and all of that.

The senshi paused and looked over at the kid, she didn’t really know what came over her but before she really thought about it she asked, “I don’t suppose you would want to learn a little something would you?” She had been in his shoes once. It wouldn’t hurt to try to help keep him safe the only way she knew how.

Ellicott smiled at the chibi, “Well lets see some moves for now and I’ll see what I can do. I’m not Jackie Chan or a power ranger but I might be able to help.” The kid was cute. Maybe a bit green or at least still looking at everything with rose colored glasses but she didn’t want to be the one to dim that enthusiasm. The city would do that enough as it is.

“I’m assuming your mom doesn’t know about all this,” She indicated both of their outfits. It really was rare when a parent or spouse found out about the war and was ok with it so she just assumed that the kid’s parents didn’t know. The only reason her father found out was he caught her, and it took way too much time to convince him that it was safer for her this way. It was also a reason why she started to take more classes and training in various styles and self defenses. He had been determined to make sure she could protect herself.

“Come, I’ll stand here and won’t retaliate, just block if needed.” Ellicott moved to an open spot and gestured for the chibi to ‘attack’. “Give it your best shot.”

That's what Ellicott figured. If her father had found out about her extracurricular activities prior to her becoming an adult she had a feeling he would go ballistic. This young man’s mother would likely have the same reaction. Her mind was already working on that particular problem. It might not be the most elegant solution but it might at least get the chibi going in the right direction.

“Yes,” She suppressed the chuckle at the movie move, blocking the strike with her arm. Her amusement faded somewhat when the kid tried a roundhouse kick. It wasn’t bad per say but… The super senshi took the kick to the side and briefly trapped his leg before letting it go. “Just as a warning, unless you’ve got a back-up plan kicking can give your opponent control.” She had that happen before. Luckily it was just during training but still, it was a hard lesson to swallow. “Kicking is a good attack but it is much easier to throw you off balance. If you think your mom would be up for it, take lessons on gymnastics or dance. It will help with timing and balance. Karate is better since they teach you ‘fighting’ moves, and is pretty commonplace so it shouldn’t raise any eyebrows.”

Ellicott stepped backwards and settled into a boxer’s stance, “In the meantime you should at least know how to punch properly. Do it wrong and you break a finger… if you're lucky.” She started to explain everything she had learned regarding punching, and blocking to some extent. Trading mock punches as they went. The senshi only ended the impromptu training when the meteor shower really started. The chibi had come up here for that, no point in working through such a spectacle.

“I am always happy to help,” Ellicott returned Totoro’s grin. “I also know of several others who would be more than willing to assist as well. There are thousands of fighting styles out there. You just need to find the one that works for you. Or adapt the things you’ve learned into something wholly your own.” That’s mostly how it worked for her. She had taken her base of dance, added kung-fu to it, the random pieces she had learned from others, and merged them in with capoeira. It was a fairly fluid style that packed a hell of a punch when needed. She was still working on it but she was actually happy with her current style.

With a deep breath, one mixed with wonder and a bit of exacerbation, the senshi turned her attention to the falling stars. “True. There is just something about this city, that's for sure.” And that was putting it politely.

At least the meteor shower was quite spectacular.

Ellicott just smiled and nodded, making a mental note to pass the chibi her phone’s information. They had to stick together after all. Life wasn’t easy for normal people, it was so much worse for senshi, and even harder for chibi’s. It was a shame really but this was the way things worked. A little help could go a long way.

She turned back to watching the stars and just hummed in agreement, not that she got the reference. The stars really were very pretty.
