With the ******** code s**t going on, he has been the one to spend time with the boys and care for them while Rose was out helping Xander keep his damned head on his shoulders. Which cool, he loved his boys and wouldn't trade them for anything, and Annie has been by to help him when s**t has gotten a bit too much for him to handle. But really?! Almost a month without his wife except in passing….It was literally killing him. Lyle had gone to bed without a fuss, but Liam….Hahahahaha poor Liam wanted to fight him tonight it seems. “Mooooommmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaa!” Was all the poor little guy was hollering even as Damien walked around with his youngest in his arms, rocking, bouncing, and patting his back. “Mal'chik, ty dolzhen ostanovit'sya…Pozhaluysta” He was almost at the point of begging, having held his son for at least an hour and a half. “Momma will be here in the morning kid. Please, please, please settle down for papa yeah?” Despite the crying and screaming, his voice was still soft and patient while he continued to try and get the soon to be toddler to settle.
Usually, he would have a t-shirt that Rose frequently wore and would sleep with Liam in their bed, but he was particularly fussy. He figured out earlier the poor baby was starting to get sick, he was sure Lyle brought it back with him by accident. No fever but the restlessness, runny nose, and cough was a sign. Combine that with teething and he knew his night was not going to be easy. He sighed and looked up at the ceiling while walking around, thinking about the other problems he was having as well.
No one told him blue balls were a legitimate thing….God he wanted to just punch someone or really bend Rose over the moment she brought her a** back home.
But, priorities and Xander needed her so he was trying to be patient, despite the fact he just wanted to grab him by the hair and just….Nope don't finish that thought….Liam’s hollering did start to shimmer down a bit to the point of where he could grab some children’s tylenol and some oral gel for his poor gums. “It's alright little man, I gotcha…”
Rose decided not to patrol tonight, having gotten off super later, having checked up on the second store and having a call with a designer overseas. She hadn't expected to walk into her house to hear her youngest crying and sniffling as his father headed toward the bathroom.
“What's going on Dami?”
She doubted she’d get a real explanation until she calmed her son, who upon hearing her voice started hollering with renewed vigor and calling for her. He tried to fling himself from his father’s arms to get to her and she quickly went to scoop him up and cuddle him close.
She frowned at her son’s red cheeks and nose, fat tears running over his freckled cheeks, green eyes watery, looking like the picture of misery.
“Oh my poor baby,” she said, bouncing him lightly, “let's get you an ice pop, baby boy.”
Oh thank god.
Damien struggled to keep hold of his son, eyes widening with slight fear that he would drop the poor kid, but then his wife was the MVP scooping him up to go get an ice pop. Calmly, he followed Rose into the kitchen, running a hand through his hair. “Baby’s sick. I tried to keep him from Lyle as much as possible but you know he's attached to his older brother like glue.” He chuckled lowly, “I was going to get him some children’s tylenol and oral gel.” He leaned on the counter, giving Liam sympathetic eyes before pulling away to rub his forehead gently against his while he clung to Rose. “You're okay little man…Told ya mommy was coming back yeah?” granted the baby was still crying but he knew Rose was going to get him to calm down soon enough.
Rose sighed and kissed her son’s forehead and looking to her husband, “I'm not surprised, when how his gums have been feeling. I never even realized a kid could teeth for so long … they think you learn, right?”
She opened the freezer and pulled out an ice pop for her son, opening the cold treat and letting it sooth his gums, “I know mama’s poor baby is feeling so miserable, aren’t you?” She cuddled her fussy son and moved to sit on the couch and wait for her husband to bring the tylenol and orajel. She definitely wanted to give him the tylenol now, especially since he would be less fussy about taking it when he had his ice pop. The orajel could wait for a bit, the ice pop was doing well enough to calm her son to huffs and sniffles, as opposed to full on wailing.
“Dami could you check and make sure Ly baby isn't running a fever as well,” she called wanting to know if she would be potentially being dealing with two sick toddlers tonight.
He was pretty sure Lyle was fine, but it didn't hurt to go check on him. He just didn't want to wake him. “Sure thing. He gave Liam one kiss to the forehead, then proceeded to try and kiss Rose on the cheek, but alas Lyle was not having it. He face smushed his father with a glare, “My mommy! No appa!” Throwing his hands up in mock defeat, Damien backed away from the glaring toddler, “Alright kiddo…You gotta sleep sometime.” He gave them both a wink and made his way towards Lyle’s room. The door opened silently which allowed him to sneak inside without causing too much noise. Searching for the thermometer in the dark was a chore though, even with the nightlight.
However he found the thing soon enough, getting down on his knees to align with the small race car bed before him. “Hey little prince…Need you to wake up for a bit alright? Gotta take your temperature.” Lyle whimpered in his sleep, sitting up with a yawn, “Appa time for wakesies?” Damien chuckled, giving his oldest a hug, “Nah bug, just need your temp for mommy. Can you say ahh for me?” The sleepy child complied and Damien made sure to quickly take his temperature. It was a little high but not enough to be alarmed. “Alright kiddo, can you go back to sleep?” Lyle gave a sleepy nod, laying back down in his bed to continue the dream he was having about being a superhero with Lu.
Damien made his way out of the room as quietly as he came, reentering the kitchen, “Ly’s fine. Temp is just slightly above 98.8.”
Rose shook her head at her little one, “that's not very nice Mal'chik. Appa can kiss mommy … mommy will be very sad if she can’t get in Appa kisses.” Still she got up, giving her baby the tylenol his father left on the table for her before he went to check on their oldest. She hoped he was fine, while she cuddled her baby close and went to his nursery to grab a baby wrap from the closet. She smiled seeing her son instantly calmer seeing the fabric. She expertly tied the thing around her maneuvering so her son was securely snuggled again her, now gnawing on his ice pop sleepy. No need to cry when you knew your mommy wasn't going to put you down.
She walked back to the living room, picking up toys that were scattered around, sure her husband hadn't had time being given the blues by their son. It helped soothe her son, just picking up and humming a lullaby she was sure her mother sang to her as a child.
Damien couldn't help but watch as his wife moved around, feeling a calming sense of peace overcome him. He already knew he still had blue balls, but that was something that could be taken care of…Later. Right now, his youngest needed to sleep and if that meant waiting and watching his wife clean while she held him close and sang a lullaby, it's well worth it.
She turned and looked at her husband and smiled when he came back into the room. She put the things she had in her hands away and walked over to him. She grinned taking his hand, “Dance with us Appa,” she said smiling with her eyes. Her son mumbled Appa sleeping, reaching a hand out to try to grab his father’s shirt. Rose chuckled as her son had seemed to completely forgotten he was mad at his dad just 10 minutes ago.
