Here at Re:Horizons we realize that not everyone is at the same level of knowledge about Digimon. So in this thread we strive to at least help you gain some of the basic information you will need to understand what is going on in the Guild, Role Plays, Games and Shows.

I'm not saying that all Digimon facts will be covered in this Guide, for that I would head over to Wikimon and let your brain run wild. This is intended for helping people new to Digimon to understand the basics and as a refresher for some of the veterans.

Digital Monster

A general term for the digital lifeforms that exist in the Digital World. These Digital Monsters are more commonly referred to as Digimon. They are almost all the creatures that reside within a parallel universe called the "Digital World." There are many different species of Digimon, as well as, unconfirmed Digimon yet to be discovered.

Digimon hatch from eggs called Digi-Eggs. They age via a process called "Digivolution" which changes their appearance and increases their physical powers. Digimon consist of a DigiCore, a Wire-frame model, and their appearance on top of said model as a texture. Most Digimon species are classified into five attributes—Data, Vaccine, Virus, Free, and Variable. Most Digimon fall into the first three categories, with "Free" being rarer and "Variable" mostly exclusive to Hybrid Digimon.

Digimon Ecology Facts

The following is what is currently known about Digimon Ecology:

● Digimon are born from eggs.
● Digimon do not have genders.
● They gain energy by eating food and drinking water just as Humans do.
● Digimon are known to need to sleep.
● They may die due to external factors such as illness or injury, or due to old age.
● When they die, their data is reverted to an egg.
● Growth occurs through biological changes known as "evolution".
● They have a strong fighting spirit due to their wild instincts.

Evolution

Digimon are born from eggs known as Digitama or "Digi-eggs". They grow by absorbing programs and data. Digimon instinctively fight battles with each other and by winning, they continue to grow in strength. Eventually, they gain enough power to change their form through a process known as Digivolving. When their lifespan comes to an end, they will die and turn back into a Digi-Egg to be reborn.

Digimon have a hierarchy in their evolution, with the highest ranking being the "Mega Digimon". The following is the order of evolution for a digimon:

1. Egg
2. Baby/Fresh
3. In-training
4. Rookie
5. Champion/ Armor
6. Ultimate
7. Mega

Digital World

The digital world present in this story is a VRMMORP known as Re: Horizons. It is a full dive game managed by a vast network of servers all around the world. Players login at local Net Cafes and transport themselves to the digital world. Within the world, players raise digimon, interact with other players, and adventure through the game world. Much like the real world, the game is complete with an atmosphere, vast oceans, continents, and islands.

The Digital World has been in production for the last ten years. A live Beta test was used to debug the game throughout its creation. Recent advances in network technology lead to the game's eventual completion. The people and organizations that manage and operate it have not been revealed, and it is unclear what their stake in the game is.

X-Antibody Digimon

There are Digimon called "X-Antibody Digimon" who have undergone a different form of evolution than normal by harboring the " X-Antibody " in their DigiCore. This has been done to develop natural immunity to the computer viruses created by mankind. Digimon possesses the antibody naturally grow stronger than their normal counterparts. The antibody also allows for digivolution in ways otherwise unavailable.

Players within the world of Re: Horizon can expect to see digimon carrying this X-antibody. It should not come as a surprise that these digimon will show additional resistance to the influence of foreign meddling, for example, hacking and viruses.
