It wasn’t a fancy place, but the food was good, it was open 24/7 and Jaina knew that they had mozzarella sticks…so it clearly fit both of their wants and needs.
She kept her arm looped with Sage’s the whole way over, chattering about dumb things. Mostly the weather, how she hoped it wouldn't rain on them and how she longed to get back to Space…at least. Someday. Maybe.
When they were seated and had their drinks ordered, Jaina sighed. “My planet was so cool. Or…asteroid…whatever. I need to work on making my realm as cool…I want like…crazy rainforest, I think. What…do you think you’ll do for yours when you make it? Something spooky to go with your theme? Or something…chill?”
She was eager to find out, and honestly, couldn’t wait to just see her friends realm when she was able to get to it.

“Wait…” Sage’s head canted to the side, brows furrowed as she mentally got hung up on a comment Jaina had said. “I’m sorry, can you please elaborate on that? Y-you said that you had an asteroid... Like,” she paused, then lifted her hand hesitantly as if she were considering her question to be borderline insane. “Like out there?” Although her finger pointed at the ceiling tiles and lights overhead, it was pretty obvious that she meant what lay beyond the building and cloud-covered sky. “You had a world? And it wasn’t just covered in rocks and dust?”Perhaps it shouldn’t sound too outlandish; after all, she had been one of Queen Altea’s visitors for a spell and wherever they had been held prisoner was not of this world.

Jaina nodded, giving a soft sigh. “Yeah, I did. It was like. One huge forest…I loved it there…I felt so free there…and it’s one of the things I miss most but…it’s just…not worth losing what I’ve built again just to go and get it back…when it might not even be all that my mind is telling me it was? But…all White Moon Senshi can go to their homeworlds…it’s one of the things that they get. Not all of them are fighty and assholes like I used to be, or the guy you just ran into is…they might take you to see Space if you asked?”
Not…that she wanted Sage to leave. Honestly, that was the last thing she wanted…but. As before…Jaina thought that having the power to choose your path was…the best thing.
“I…I like with our realms…that we can create what we want. It takes some time…but it feels…so personal…”

“I think, if I were able to go to Mirrorspace freely I wouldn’t feel so envious of them” Sage admitted, her tone laced with disappointment. She reached for her glass of water and took a small drink to give herself a moment to realign her thoughts, so they could have a more positive conversation. “I’ll be honest, I haven’t really spent much time thinking about what I want mine to look like.”“Several years ago, when I first joined, I did some brief research on my name and learned the mythology surrounding Hekate.” It did shed some light on why her uniform was more witch-like, although it had a bit more of a Halloween aesthetic than Greek. “I suppose I might do something including a crossroads, ruins in a deep woods-like area, maybe.” Not quite bog-like but a misty fog for an other-worldly or supernatural kind of feel.

“Oh! Oh my god, think of the parties we could have there? Spooky parties, roasting marshmallows…all that fun stuff.”
Jaina understood her frustration, but…she would just have to wrangle up a cat. If Sage had really been doing this for so many years, she absolutely deserved a promotion at this rate. Maybe Jaina could make that a side quest for herself, working to get someone to give her friend more power…
“I never really thought to do that, I mean. I did once but like…the only thing that ever came up was some Australian singer and one of the blond haired singing…ai things? I forget what they’re called but the one with the blue pigtails is super popular.”
She gave a little grin. “It’s cool that you actually have some kind of a backstory.”

Sage’s shoulders rose in a small shrug. “I have no idea,” she admitted with an almost owlish expression. She did not follow music trends and most of the time she was lucky to remember all the lyrics to a song, if she was lucky, she might recall the title or singer but never both. “Honestly, I wish my magic was more in line with the actual goddess’ rather than jinxes.” Although, it could be considered a subsect of witchcraft, possibly. However, the manifestation of the purple smoke was easy enough for opponents to avoid that she often avoided using it unless she could get a sneak attack. “I do wonder sometimes if her mythology is somehow connected to my world.” Sage leaned back in her seat at looked up at the lamp hanging from the ceiling above them. All she yearned for was just a peek at what her asteroid looked like. “Have you kept in contact with any of your former friends or have they deemed you the enemy now for joining us?” LIke the boy from earlier who was quick to determine that she was evil.

“Huh.” Jaina looked intrigued with the idea of a myth being any kind of a source for magic, and she half wondered if perhaps that was just how the myths were started. It…it made some sense, she figured.
Though, the next question made her freeze for a moment.
“Oh um…I’ve…not really run into many…I…my cat was upset and…my ex too, I guess but…it’s been a long time and…I’m…”
She hesitated and looked out the window. “I…don’t really like thinking about them or talking about them…I’m sorry…”

Sage redirected her attention from the ceiling back to her friend. She straightened up in her chair and reached out to place her hand atop Jaina’s in a comforting gesture. “No need to apologize, I’m sorry that I brought up a sensitive subject.” Her journey to the Dark Mirror Court was an enigma to Sage and while she would like to know more about the circumstances, she was wise enough to know when not to push. Perhaps in time, her friend might open up about her life before the Court, but today was not that day and she understood. “So,” she paused to consider what to change the topic to before settling on something perhaps a bit generic. “Are there any new hobbies, or things you enjoy doing since joining?”

“Oh, it’s all right! I just…honestly don’t…I try really hard to not think about it, it’s taken up way too many years of my life. But! For now…I went to this rock store the other day? And I might try to start making some jewelry, is there any kind of stones that you like? Any colors? I’d love to make something for you!”
She brightened at the very thought, excited to share her newfound hobby. “I’m honestly hoping that I can maybe turn it into a small business? I seriously don’t need money, Jett is loaded but…it would be nice to start an income stream for myself, even if it’s just small…right now I’m working on a suncatcher for the girl who works at the shop? And I’m…It’s…”
A grimace. “It’s…definitely a thing so far.”

“It’s the feeling of being independent rather than relying on the generosity of someone else.” She’d known too many people in college who were, what she’d call, a freeloader relying on their family’s money. But there were still a number who had made it there either on their own merits and earned scholarships or had one or two jobs to support their education. Although Jaina didn’t have to worry about money, it seemed that she did anyway and spoke volumes about her character. Sage smiled and with an approving nod removed her hand from Jaina’s to take a sip of water. “Jewelry can be kind of niche, but if you know your target audience I think you can be very successful.” There are also a lot of upfront costs especially if she was working with precious stones but with practice, it could become a good self-sustaining option for bringing in some income. “As for favorite colors though, honestly… I’m not too picky. At work, I can’t wear anything that dangles but when I’m not at the clinic or participating in evening activities like today I usually wear vintage clothes.” Today was no exception with the dark blue jeans, white lace blouse that she had tucked in, and a pair of black flats.

“Hmm…” Jaina nodded, pleased that she understood the money issue. Non issue? Sort of issue. Whatever. “Nothing that dangles, maybe I’ll make you a suncatcher too. Something you can just have at home. They’re so pretty…or at least the ones I’ve looked at online are pretty.”
The one she was making? Well. That was a hot mess. Getting a bit better…but a hot mess. “I love that top, by the way I’m not sure why I didn’t say it before. It’s so flowy. I’ve never really thought about vintage clothing? I’m more of a…”
Jaina wrinkled her nose and gave a sheepish smile. “Honestly, for the past few years I’ve been a pajamas only kind of girl, but jeans are good, and shirts. I like the ones that are just stradling the line. Like, I have one that says ‘beach please’ and ‘what the fudge’...dumb things. Like, tasteful crudness? I don’t know. It’s fun to me.”
She laughed softly and leaned back. “But really…you have no favorite colors? Any like…cool or warm preference?”

Sage felt a warm blush tint her cheeks a light pink at the compliment. As Jaina continued to talk, a small laughter bubbled up when she mentioned the phrases written on a few of her shirts. Some might find it distasteful but she found it rather humorous. In a world caught in the threads of war fought with magic, sometimes falling back on these small joys in life are what would help a soul still feel whole. “I- I uh…” She stammered when the conversation circled back to her favorite color. “I’m rather fond of purples, and turquoise, dusty rose or antique bronze and silver. Yellow or ivory are both nice too.” Honestly, she probably had an outfit that could fit well with any of them and if not then it would be reason enough to go thrift shopping to find something new. “What about you?” She turned the question back on her friend. “What are your favorite colors?”

“Purple used to be the best. But I kind of like…maroon too? Or raspberry? Whatever color you’d call my hair. That’s grown on me too. And green. Honestly…there’s not many colors that I don’t like, I guess?” Brown. Muddy colors…but those…were obvious, and she wasn’t sure that anyone really liked them…
“I’ll keep all of those colors in mind! I think that the purples will be easiest…at least to start with? And then I’ll make sure to use silver to…uh. Do the…” She wrinkled her nose and mimed twisting wires until it came to her. “The twisty…holdy bits. As you can see. I’m clearly a professional. And I’m very good at what I do.”
The grin she gave said that her words were an absolute lie…but. Oh well.

“Wire wrapping, or findings?” Sage was by no means a jeweler but she’d spent a fair enough time around Etsy to see some of the intricate designs to pick up on a few terms and techniques that people used. “Are there any other activities you like to enjoy outside of crafting?” She asked as the waitress from earlier returned to refill her glass of water and let them know that their orders would be out soon.

“Uh…yes?” Jaina gave a sheepish smile, and obviously didn’t know the answer…or what either of the things were, but the other question was good. “Exploring. But you know all about that already. And…talking with people? Hanging out with people is fun. Honestly, I like kids a lot but…for the past few years all I’ve done is video games and babysitting and…it’s just been nice to get friends again…so that. I like that as my main activity.”
She grinned at that and looked up as their food was delivered, moving her hands off of the table and looking excited. “Yes! Food! I like food too. Always food.”
