It had been a while since they had gotten stuck on the Sauti cliffs, since then they had come home with their loot of eggs and dropped them at the beast ranch and collected their pay. It was a good chunk for quality sailscale eggs and the truth was that all of the beast charmers liked the challenge of scaling the cliffs to find them so it wasn’t often that he and rista got to go. It was fun to fight the mountain and dodge sermals while collecting eggs that hatched into flying jewels. He liked them, Rista liked them. Maybe he should get the kids one each as a coming of age gift. It would be good for Ustasis to have a companion especially. What also might be good for Ustasis was perhaps a bit more complicated. He sought out his mate to get her opinion. It had a great deal to do with her after all. But there were other reasons he wanted to approach her over this matter as well.

She was in the ring going through her morning sword maneuvers. It was a meditation, physical exercise and grounding exercise all in one and it kept her deadly and sharp, twice a month she went to the sword ring in town to face new opponents. It kept her alive and it fueled the rest of her life with energy and dedication. She looked up at the approach of her mate, something else taught to her over the years. Always be aware of your surroundings, particularly if it has your beautiful man in it. It was always the best view. She flowed out of the training stance and into a rest at ready pose. “Hello love, you look awfully broody this morning, what did our kids get up to this time?” They had three boys and a girl, there was sure to be daily chaos, even if her oldest were maturing most quickly. Her brow furrowed. She didn’t like that they were getting so big, who was going to be left to cuddle her on cold mornings?

He came and leaned on the fence. “I er, have something serious to talk to you about, but don’t worry it should be a good thing, I think.” He bent his neck towards her and kissed her. “Would you er consider…having more children with me?” He loved big families, they both did. “I well, it would be good for Ustasis to have younger siblings, maybe it would draw out some of the inner strength he doesn’t know he had yet. I know he will do great things, he is so very gentle.” He was closest with Ustasis but he knew all of his children well. “And well, I want a child that looks like me, the new me. It was always a point of pride that he looked so much like his kids. And now he didn’t have that, they looked like old him and it made him nostalgic.
“Its just, I’m lonely and I don’t want to be done having kids, I’m not ready to have an empty nest but if you feel we have enough I’m sure I can come up with a different idea.

“Well, I had been thinking that I wanted more too. I wanted a big family and I think it only right, as we both agree, to try again. I am so game.” She grinned brightly at him. “We will have to think of a good romantic date night eh?” She winked at him. His question had pleased her so. She was glad that they wanted the same thing. She was so happy that it wiped almost everything else from her mind and she was immediately thinking of how their supply needs would change and where the old baby clothes had ended up in the attic, she had kept them, just in case. She would probably always keep them, perhaps when her kids started to have kids she would give them some of the clothes if they wanted. Some of them she fondly remembered making herself, many had been gifted, a few had been new but they all looked soft and in relatively good shape. She wiggled excitedly at the thought, probably looking quite deranged as she was in full battle gear still. This was why she trained in the morning.

"Wow, I'm so glad you feel the same way!" He hugged her, wrapping his arms around her from behind around the currently flat belly. He nuzzled into her hair affectionately letting her feel his powerful frame supporting her. "I love you Riz." It was a new pet nickname for her and he loved it. It seemed to symbolize her really well. "Have you uh, have you thought of names? I uh may have some written down on a note pad." Not that he had been planning to ask for a long time or anything... He had always wanted a big family it being just himself really growing up and he knew that Rista was an orphan and so she might also feel the same way.
But Ustasis had needed him a bit more for a bit and Umen was happy to help his son out. Ultear was watching when he couldn't. Poor kid didn't deserve to be bullied. He knew that kids did that sort of thing, their parents did too.
Hopefully that situation had calmed down and he was able to focus on ...other things.

"You know I want a big family like my sister, we are an empire to fear." She nodded her head emphatically. "Well, most of us." There were a few gentle souls among the lot of fireballs. They were most cherished and protected as those who could not quite protect themselves. But even the gentlest had hidden abilities just waiting to be unlocked. She looked forward to seeing the future all over her children unlocked.
"I hear that nephew Ushiwa and Saeruin had two more children. We can't fall behind." She giggled knowing that he would know she was just joking. She wanted more kids for other reasons. She was missing the big ones as it was and some of them had not even left the nest yet.
"I don't know what I will do when I am beyond childbearing age," she draped her hand over her face.

He smiled indulgently at her, "No doubt one day we will have grandchildren to spoil, so never fear. And we get to give those babies back to their parents. For now though we can have more of our own. Your beauty never will fade, least of all in my eyes." He winked. He shook his head, "Nope! Definitely can't let them have more kids then us." He was being playful he knew she didn't give a hoot really if the nephew had more kids than them but they liked to tease within their family. "Better look out the grand niece might be catching up!" Kechiri had had a handsome son that looked just like her but was showing non of the angst, so far.
He wanted a child or two that looked like him, even Rista had been affected by the pollen. Perhaps deep down she felt the same way he did or she just wanted more kids because they were fun. He missed the yelling and screaming if not the crying when they were young and adorable and all snuggly. Those were the best years. Being an adult was best enjoyed with children. You got to revisit the imagination you forgot you had.
"Care for a little fox and radaku?" It was a classic family game kind of like high speed hide and seek.

She quirked and eyebrow and popped out a hip. "If that is a challenge mate, I heartily accept."
She smacked him gently on the backside and took off pell mell. That ought to rile him up! They both loved how playful they could be together. It was a very uncomplicated relationship and strong as they come. There was a lot of love and trust and years of building it.
"Come catch me!" She called giggling maniacly. She bolted down familiar pathways. Both of them had jobs that required being fit. It was a good challenge for everyone especially when the kids played with them. Ultear was arguably the best getting that perfect blend of both parents, closely followed by Ustasis with Izel and Tahnee at the end. Tah was too chill and Izel was to uncaring to really give it a proper go. They often played on feast days.

He did eventually catch her. It was the best part of the game. Some while later~ The clouds had scudded further across the blue sky, high above the earth, propelled by wind and change as all beings were.
"Do you think maybe our antics have produced the desired affect yet?" He said one day when she flat burned the stew. It was hopeful thinking. He knew it was way too early to tell, but nor was he sad about the time they got to spend together in wild abandon. He loved her with every fiber of his heart.
He couldn't wait to find out in a while if they had indeed made it happen. He wanted this child so very bad, representative of their new colors and their old selves. Maybe it would give Ustasis a little more oomph to have younger siblings. He did worry about that boy, even more than the rest of the kids who seemed to have enough sass to hold their own but Ustasis was a sweet soft boy.
He was bullied often sending his father and brother on patrol.

She swatted at him playfully, "It is way too early and you know it, so just buckle in." She winked at him. They felt young again, young and carefree and she was absolutely excited about the chaos and fun and love that was to come if they were successful.
"I can scarcely think of anything else, I feel like a young lady again." She grinned and pinched his cheek. "You handsome devil you." She giggled madly. They had too much fun together and her face warmed and the kaka eating grin he gave her in return. All this time and his finely planed face still made her heart race.
"You have any name ideas kicking around in there Umen?" He was rather gifted at name giving. They liked Us. They just seemed to roll off the tongue. Izel had been an exception and a worthwhile one of course. And she had gotten to name Tahnee and it had been a name she had heard around the village pertaining to the water rippling on the beach or some such and she had loved it.

"You know it is funny that you ask that. I had read about a sea faring character in a book and his name, (though I think it would work for a girl too,) was Undine. And I think that fits nicely into the naming scheme we have going on, but I would have to see the child to be sure, ya know?" He loved his children, every single one and he couldn't wait to love this new one too. If they were successful of course, no use counting your eggs before they hatched, but he was sooo ready.
"Do you happen to have any names picked out yet?" He was curious. "Any knocking around in there?" He made spider fingers and massaged her scalp gently. "Am I helping?" He asked her bemused. He would probably just put her to sleep with the soothing scalp massage, that might be a bit counterproductive. In more ways that one. He leered a bit at her giving her side eye.

"Me? Oh no, nothing, I just thought that maybe if you had a name picked out we could use it. I would need to see the baby as you said to put any forward but I do love the process of weeding out to find the perfect name. Lucky for you I really like the sound of Undine. Would it be too much to ask to ask for a girl?" She leered right back at him. Best he get a taste of his own medicine anyway.
"We have so many boys." She fanned herself teasing him. She truly did not care what gender their baby was so long as they were born healthy. The miracle of birth held no fear for her she had faced it many times. It was better when you knew what crazyness to expect. And it was a long and exhausting ordeal. However the reward was well worth the effort. And kids were like those potato chips that the wind people loved so very much. It was impossible to not have at least two..or more..children.

"We can definitely use it then, so long as the little suites it." He grinned at her and kissed her hand. "Thank you love, as ever you bring so much light to my life." He looked around. "What say we pull a leaf out of our fellows book and go camping...we can ensure the new leaf on our tree at that point." He winked.
It was a beautiful early summer and he was delighted tat the turn in the season. He loved the warm months, he liked the storms too. Warmer, feistier than the chill drenchers of winter.
"I can pack us some supplies?" He was going to stuff their bags with the best food. This would be a lovely camping trip. He was excited. He hoped she would agree to come with him. She was adventurous enough to match him step for step. He felt that he could do anything with her by his side, not to mention the rest of her giant scary family. He was happy he fit right in.

"Mmmm I love camping, I think that will be a great way to celebrate the chance of bringing a new baby into the family." She winked right back at him and sasshayed back to the house, hair swaying behind her. She enjoyed having it in a pony tail it kept it off her face and it was cooler than having it down. Plus it added extra sass to her walk too which could only be for the best. He deserved the best and she was it. He knew it too she had made sure of it over and over again by going above and beyond for him and their children, just as he had supported her fiercely and wholeheartedly throughout their relationship.
She smiled when she thought of who his old rival had finally ended up with. Fate was a funny thing but Kechiri and Raolvar were very happy and had a son of their own finally. How spectacular. It had taken him a while to find the right one, but in the end no one else could compete for her heart.

"What is that misty eyed look for?" He spread his hands as if presenting a scene a play. "Are you by chance imagining the wonderful romantic nights by the fire eating good food? Cuz I am, lets go love, I'm hungry." He waggled his eyebrows at her this time. He scurried after her into the house to gather stuff they would need. They didn't need to go to far either. The Ninyelt clan had bought land for this specific purpose a while ago. They were big campers who were non too interested in public areas with lots of people. A lot of the family magic happened out in the bush in one way or another and it would be foolish not to take advantage of the resources presented so easily at hand.
Food packed, they scrambled to catch their mounts and kit them out for the journey. First a brushing, feet check and then the saddling began. Rista chose to go saddleless for once but bringing a pack beast that was trained to walk along beside them without the need for a lead. Umen chose a saddle that was built for long distance just in case. It would be good to have one in an emergency even if they were not going too far.
