Ushiwa 1

The janarim roared in his face. He was stunned, this was one of the brothers going to Rista and Umen. Up until now the male had had a glorious temperament. But he saw a real promise in those eyes if he were to try to get close to his wife again.
"What is wrong? I'm not going to hurt her you buffoon, I love her, you know that Dreighton. He shook his head, "Don't tell me that Cletus is more level headed than you."
He looked at Sae, "Do you have any idea why he would be behaving like this? I though you said he was chill when you rode him."
A fin ear twitched and he moved just in time to avoid being charged by the other janarim. "Cletus! I'm offended!" What was going on, was there a problem with the pollen in the air or something? "Best to get out of the pen Sae, they are being unreasonable and I need to figure it out, they are too big to be this sassy."

He looked at her closely, "You know I am sure you are right, there is no other good explanation for that sort of behavior. Lets head for the healer, Mom and Ein are out today otherwise I would say we could check with them."

He helped her out of the fence and they went direct to town on a radaku and a xaraan so they would get there with their information as soon as possible. His heart raced the whole way into town this was just so darn exciting. Sae could be pregnant at this very moment. He couldn't help looking over at her every few strides and trying to make out any changes in her shape. Her tummy did look a bit distended.. there might be something there.

He waited most impatiently outside of the healers hut. Sae came out beaming and the healer told him to his face that he was going to be a Dad again. He let out a great whoop of joy.

She was so beautiful. He as always was glad for the circumstances and chance that had brought them together. It had led to the most rewarding relationship of his life. Now Sae carried his twins. She had taken time off again from her forge work, as th round belly interefered with her work.
"Any inkling yet of when the children will come? Some sort of prophetic twinge?"
He asked eagerly. He wrapped himself around her in a supportive and strengthening hug.

He was going to be a very proud papa of two babbies soon. They were both getting pretty antsy with anticipation. Today they were having a simple picnic on the beach.
But no sooner did he get the picnic blanket down, when she had her first contraction.
"Or this, this is good." He beamed at her as she skewered a pickle, unperterbed. "Better eat those while you can, you never like them when you are not pregnant."

Her labour progressed slowly and finally it was time to go see the healer. They went to a more open minded lady that let Ushiwa stay in the room due to his beast healing training. Explaining that she usually didn't let the men in during this sort of things but she trusted that even though this was his mate this time that he would not pass out. She had a handy chair too if he needed it.

He was pumped to be this close to the action. He had a small bit of magic and could be of some minor help some way or another he was sure. Even if it was just so she could crush his hand.

As they waited his mind drifted back to all of the fun moments during this pregnancy. Going swimming when she was just slightly round. He had loved watching her move through the water so gracefully and was happy that they had gotten to spend so much time together. The ranch was always pretty forgiving on waiting parents. These were moments that were not to be missed or forgotten.

He had to admit that the waiting was rough, watching the contractions get longer, closer together and harder, hour after hour. The healer said she was doing good and Sae seemed in good spirits still. He himself felt pretty frazzled but he used all of his formidable will power to hide it from the two women. He did what he was told and let his hand get crushed over and over and listened to her curse his name in the most eloquent ways that he was sure Kechiri had been teaching her those curses on the sly. Creative to say the least he had to admit to being impressed actually.

"You are doing so well my love, man if I had known how hard it was on you I wouldn't have asked for more kids." He bowed his head leaning into her for the strength and comfort to give her the same back. This was a long battle, but it would all be so very worth it in the end. "Can't deny I want them almost as much as anything though."

And so it was that he recalled how he and Sae had both personally brought their final batch of children into the world. His mom had told him what he had done right and corrected anything else after so that if he had to do it again it would go just as good or better. Thankfully there had been no complications and he and Sae were contentedly feeding and holding their new twins so sweetly bundled up days later when they were still fresh to the world.

"My heart has never been fuller. Thank you for being an amazing Mom Sae, I don't know what I would have done without you all of these years by my side and I look forawrd to so many more good years with you.

His child had tossed a sock and patiently he tucked it back up on the tiny perfect feetsie. Babies were just so stinking cute and he coudln't help but look for echoes of himself and Sae in those tiny little faces. "I love them so much."

"Yes, arn't they just perfect?" He had finally achieved it, becoming a father, a new old dad, after all of this time. He was part way to being legendary like his Dad, ahead of his brother who was for all intents and purposes a loaf and here he was starting from scratch on a new branch of the family tree.

Tears leaked out of his eyes as he thanked the gods for all the blessings in his life thus far and the blessings that kept on multiplying and kept life an adventure and not a chore.
He got to chose the nights books and stacked his personal favorite three together in a pile for Sae to read, that was how they did it, one parent chose, one read and they alternated nights so they could also be a part of the magic. They had quite the kiddie book collection, and the other kids remembering how much they liked that time with their parents growing up, kept them well supplied with new book treasures to share at nap times and bed time.

Ushiwa 8
He made breakfast for her while she fed the twins the next day. "So what do we want to do today?" He asked the boss. She was the life support system for the kids so by default that made him the life support system for her. That and her energy levels dictated what they could do and not.

He flipped a pancake while he waited. They were chocolate chip and banana and they were some of her favorites. Honestly they were a weakness for him too, as was all chocolate and coconut things..he was also a bigger sucker for sushi. Sae made the best sushi, must be all of that time working with the knives.

"We could go to the beach or the market or visit people?" Sometimes she appreciated ideas of stuff to do tossed to her, a problem with mummy brain he was sure. She did a good job for all of that though. She kept the kids in line and he was well housebroken. As well he should be by the fifth and sixth kid. He was modest though, six was good he didn't need to be like mom and dad and have seven kids.
