Sometimes, accidents happen. Your character has found themself in a situation where an honest accident has resulted in an item being broken. Possibly your own, or you may have broken someone else's. Was it an item at a shop, or a priceless artifact? How does your character react to the honest mistake?
With the warmth of spring on her skin, Silfi stretched her arms above her head and smiled at the sky. There had been worries of storms earlier in the morning, but so far it turned out to be a lovely day with thick, puffy clouds slowly meandering across the pastel sky. It was the sort of day she would have loved to spend with friends back home, but she was visiting with her siblings at the Sanctuary and chores needed doing.
At least she was nearly done. She'd spent the better part of the morning tending to household tasks and now that the washing was done she was able to go outside. Even the act of hanging up linens to dry felt invigorating, if only because of the fresh spring scents surrounding her. Maybe she could sneak off for a while after this? No one had technically asked her to do anything else so maybe...just maybe...

Well this is unfortunate. Revna studied the jewelry box that dangled awkwardly from her hands. It was made from a darker wood with engravings that were filled with gold leaf that swirled across the box. Of course the shimmery gleam had caught her attention and she had picked up the thing, fully intending to return it...that was if someone noticed before they departed for home once their time at the sanctuary was over, but while tending to the chiavi she had made the mistake of bringing the box along. Polaris had been a bit too inquisitive and one of the more playful chiavi had also thought to investigate the strange object, plucking it from her familiar and flying away for a bit where the pair fought over the box until it plummeted back to the ground and broke one of the hinges. She had tried to get it back into place, but the piece simply wasn't going back in and it would probably take some real tinkering to fix much to her dismay. "For faen." Revna let out a sigh, her fingers tightening their hold on the wooden box until she noticed Silfi in the distance hanging up linens.
Maybe she could get Silfi to help somehow? Revna's golden gaze narrowed as she calculated her options. Could she somehow get her to agree to go along to town with her, perhaps? Surely there was some sort of artisan there who could fix the box before their cousins noticed. I would just have to leave out some vital details, that's all. For the moment she closed the box and tucked it under an arm, approaching Silfi as she pondered her options. Maybe she could hand it over as if showing it off to Silfi and then have the lid suddenly snap? Then Silfi would be an accomplice, not able to innocently tattle on Revna. Now that would be an idea. Forcing her lips to curve downwards from a smirk into a more neutral expression, Revna got closer to Silfi and nodded in greeting. "Hva gjør du?"

"Klesvask." Silfi answered a little smile as she straightened out the last of the blankets. With the harsher winter at their back the need for thick, heavy linens was behind them and she hoped that by the end of the day she could swap out the row of freshly dried sheets with clothing instead. As nice as an entire afternoon would be getting all of this done in one day instead of two was starting to sound better.
"What about you?" She was surprised to see Revna on the ground and not pulling aerials atop Polaris. There hadn't been a day that she'd seen her sister since coming to the sanctuary where the Chiavi hadn't been by her side.

Revna looked at the laundry before giving a curt nod. "I see." She blinked as she looked over everything, her gaze still thoughtful as she pondered the whole situation. It was strange to see Silfi doing chores at the sanctuary, but Revna supposed the extra pair of hands wasn't a bad thing. Ziya was constantly busy with training under Talisia that it left her little room to mess around with anyone until Silfi arrived. Though Polaris had filled in a lot of her time it was still nice to have more family around, even if she never openly admitted to such a thing. It would be a shame to ruin that balance by causing trouble...right?
"Stretching my legs after cleaning up the chiavi stable." Replied Revna after a pause, shifting so that she could bring the jewelry box out. "I did find this hidden in an alcove, what do you think?" She waited to give Silfi the chance to inspect it, waiting to see if she noticed the broken hinges. Maybe it would be best to act like it was a discovery, something to fix and then she could return it later to its proper place in that closed off guest room. Just because the door was locked on the outside didn't mean the outer windows leading inside were inaccessible, something that Revna was quite adapt at using to get in and out of various locations where most just turned away.

Silfi grinned. "It's so like you to find things that have been hidden away." She started to reach for the jewelry box and murmured to herself, "It's lovely, though. I wonder why it was stuffed out there?" When she picked it up the girl didn't notice the hinges at first. From the way she held onto the box it wasn't immediately evident, but as she tilted it and the broken hinges slipped she gasped in surprise. "Oh no, it's broken. Maybe that's why they left it out there?"
The teenager clucked her tongue and - with a much more delicate touch - went to inspect it further. "Poor thing, it really is lovely. Was it like this when you found it?"

"Mmhmm." Revna nodded before waiting until Silfi noticed the broken hinges. "Oh! What happened?" She let out a gasp of her own, her mouth twisting into a frown of disappointment. "It might have been more delicate than I realized for the hinges to snap like that. What do we do?" She questioned, tapping at her chin before glancing at the box again as if truly trying to figure this completely new problem out.
"What if there's an artisan in town? Wouldn't it be a lovely surprise to go see if we can fix it?" Revna eventually murmured, glancing back to Silfi to see how she would take to the idea. "We could sneak it somewhere in the manor, leave it for Talisia to find later once we're gone." Or keep it for herself, but then again...well Revna would just see how things went. At the moment though she just wanted to play off the damage and get the thing fixed without Silfi running through the sanctuary and pointing fingers.

"Looks like maybe the hinges got rusty being outside for so long? Or maybe it was the wood...It's a little hard to tell." Silfi had only ever seen jewelry boxes from afar and never properly owned one herself so it was hard to tell what a new intact was one was supposed to look like. There was definitely signs of age on it, but she wasn't honestly sure if that was the case or something they couldn't see.
"I was planning on taking a trip out anyway once my chores were done so I don't think anyone will wonder where I've gone off too. Maybe we could try a jeweler first and see what their take is on it? Or should we go to a carpenter?" She wasn't entirely sure what kind of craftsman made the piece, but it would be a shame if their cousin found it and it was damaged like this. Maybe just by handling it they were breaking it more?

Revna tried her best to keep her expression neutral, the teen nodding as her sister continued inspecting the box. "Is that so?" She mused, tilting her head at the observation about the hinges. "I guess it must have been left there for a bit, but surely we can get someone to replace the hinges." They totally weren't busted by a pair of chiavi because of Revna's mistake, nope.
"I think a jeweler or even a blacksmith might be best." Revna decided as she held out her hands for the box, preparing to place it in her satchel for their journey towards town. "It's probably best we sneak out soon then before anyone has the chance to wonder where we went." Revna often stayed with the chiavi for most of the afternoon anyways, so that much wouldn't be strange if she was missing for a time. "Do you need help finishing up here?" Normally Revna would avoid chores like the plague, but she had a mission and was determined to get it done as quickly as possible.

Silfi took another look at the jewelry box before delicately handing it back over to Revna. She made sure to keep a light touch on the hinges, just incase the top were to slip off mid transfer. "Oh, now?" Looking down at her wardrobe, the teenager made a distressed little hum before pinching her lip between her teeth. While there was technically nothing wrong with what she was wearing she liked looking prettier when she went into town. Especially once she'd started getting better with charcoals and didn't look as much like a mockery of a painted doll.
"Can you take the basket inside? It's empty, I just don't want to leave it out in case it blows off." Or gets rained in or something snatches it. It wouldn't be the first time something - or someone - tried to mess with her. "Just...let me change my dress really quick and braid my hair. I'll be quick." They needed to get the jewelry box repaired before anyone found out, but...well...what if, the one day she looked scrubby, someone she liked was there?

Seriously? Revna rolled her head back on her shoulders and looked to the sky as if pleading for patience. Maybe she should have come up with a more elaborate plan to pin the broken box on his sister instead of simply asking for help with it. Gathering what patience she did have Revna looked from the sky back towards Silfi before giving a slight nod. "That's fine. Just hurry up and do whatever you need to get ready and I'll meet you by the main gate. I guess I'll change into something clean as well." At least she could tuck the jewelry box into her satchel and giving Silfi a few moments should be fine...right?
Picking up the basket, Revna carried it inside and did a quick survey of the area to make certain the manor was still empty before running up to the room she shared with Silfi to swap out her own clothing.

Silfi picked up the hem of her dress to free her legs and hustled inside. While she was careful not to get spotted by anyone lingering indoors, she also moved with a quiet sort of speed that she'd used to avoid capture during many a game with her siblings. She may not have been as strong, as quick witted or fierce as the others, but Silfi was at least confident that they would never be able to catch her.
Which was why, with full confidence, she'd been able to say she could 'quickly change'. The moment she was near her packed linens the girl ripped her work ware off her body and shimmied into something more appropriate. A few special baubles for her ears, some nicer looking boots and she was out the door headed for the main gate, her hair still hung over one shoulder as she braided it.

Revna was only a few steps ahead of Silfi, but it was enough time to get her to the main gate first so that she could scout the road ahead. They were fortunate so far and it looked like no one was on their way home yet giving Revna plenty of hope that this trip to the village would be in her favor. Straightening the edge of her tunic, Revna glanced up as Silfi approached the main gate and motioned for her to follow. It was a shame that Polaris was back at the stables, but Revna felt it was best to keep the chiavi behind since he was part of the reason the box had broken in the first place. The last thing she needed was for the chiavi to misbehave in town, not when she was looking to resolve this mess first.
"Ready?" She called out towards Silfi. "Let's find the artisan first and then maybe we can pick up some food from town to share tonight for dinner." That would save their cousin and brother the hassle of trying to prepare a meal and give her a good reason for having gone to town in the first place.

"I snagged some extra coins from my pack, just incase." She lifted the little pouch at her side before letting it drop with a soft thud against her side. "I don't know how much it would cost to repair it but I don't want to risk having to come back here without it."
If they had to explain to their cousins what they'd found and what state it was in how would they react? Depends on how much it means to them. If it was a priceless, misplaced heirloom it would just be a sad affair and the best they could hope for would be indifference.
Still, best to at least try and get it fixed first.

A small smile tugged at Revna's lips. "That sounds good to me." She had a few coins of her own tucked away in her belongings, the teen determined to fix the box and hide her mistake. And after it was repaired then she could go about quietly placing it back in its spot and hopefully would find something else to store her own collection of trinkets and the like. Though it was still tempting to try to keep the box, Revna felt like the fact it had broken in the first place might be a sign it was best to leave some things alone. At least just this once.
