Truth or Dare

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Truth or Dare has always been a fun and thrilling game that a youngling experienced as they grew up. But even adults may find themselves challenged to tell a secret or take on a dare. Which one will you pick, and how does it all play out?

[ Play out this prompt response by your character responding to a truth or a dare. If you're playing with another character, both will need to respond to their own individual challenge. If this is a solo, play out the response as if challenged by an NPC. ]

On a bright, warm spring day Sienna found herself outside of her family's home buried up to her elbows in mud. She'd decided the day before that she wanted to plant a garden - a garden of what she didn't know - but in order to do that she needed to tear up the ground. At first she'd used all the smart things - forks from the kitchen, her sisters hair pins, a dagger or two - before loosening it up enough that Sienna could simply go at it with her hands. Her dress was utterly ruined, her dreads soaked in the stuff, but the girl had a sizable hole and to her that was a bonus.

She just needed to make a few more, then connect them and something great would sprout up! Something big and pretty, and not once did the concept of a giant mud pit outside of their home leave her wondering what her parents might think. For thoughts like that didn't plague Sienna; few did. She simply did and went with the consequences.

It was far too bright for Quielle's liking. How was she supposed to sneak around with so much sunlight? The girl pursed her lips in a pout as she tried to dart from shadow to shadow, using the trees as her guide as she played about the outskirts of their family home. She had gotten the hang of this game, darting about until a bit of slippery mud found its way beneath her feet and caused the girl to slide right into her sister.

"Sienna!" Quielle let out a warning cry, but tumbled into the hole to her dismay. Frowning, she looked at her sister and let out a soft sigh. "Why are ya diggin' traps like this?" There was so much mud everywhere...what was she up to this time?

She'd just lifted another mound of muck to sit off to the side when a body knocked into hers and if Sienna hadn't been planted so firmly in the stuff she may have fallen into the hole right alongside Quielle! The little one squealed, momentarily petrified by everything going on, but when she saw who it was a little sigh of relief slipped out. "Oh, Quielle-" Sienna let out a little, nervous laugh and sighed. "-you scared me." Her sister really was good about slipping around, wasn't she? A little too good, because all that slippery slip...ness had landed her in the mud.

"They're not traps." She giggled, "It's my garden."

Quielle pouted towards her sister. "I'm the one who fell in this hole though." She replied, not wanting to admit that she had perhaps been a bit startled when she had started slipping across the yard and into this trap. Even if it wasn't super deep it still could have been bad!

"Are you sure about that? Feels more like a trap to me." Her frown returned as she looked around. "What are you trying to grow here?" She was already covered in mud so might as well see what her sister was up to exactly, right?

"You did. You really should be more careful. What if you'd hurt yourself?" Sienna questioned in all seriousness. She did shift her legs, though, to reach over and offer a hand to Quielle to get her out of the hole. At least she knew now that it was plenty big enough for whatever sort of seed she might find to put into it later today. Or maybe tomorrow, or...whenever she found something.

"Flowers." She answered with a lackadaisical smile. "Maybe. I'm not sure just yet, but I'm sure something will come to me." Sienna smoothed her muddied hands down her thighs, covering what bit of cloth hadn't already been drenched. "What were you up to? Come to help?"

Quielle pondered the question before flashing her sister a smile. "I guess that means I could have asked for some sweets while I healed up on a bed of pillows?" Would she have gone stir crazy like that? Probably, but still sweets were always nice especially if someone else was bringing them over to her. She accepted the hand and climbed out of the hole. Once she was back on solid ground, Quielle attempted to wipe off some mud from her legs and arms which only resulted in more smears like tribal paint across her exposed skin. Well so much for that. But hey maybe that would help her blend in with the forest more, maybe?

"Maybe. I was kind of getting bored. Do you wanna go look for flowers now?" Quielle asked after glancing around, a grin crossing her lips as she thought about something. "There's that really fancy looking flower at the very top of the cliffs...could be quite a challenge to go get it to move here." Would her sister even accept such a dangerous dare though? Only ocean waited for them below those cliffs, but the wildflowers only grew along those cliffs and looked so pretty with their delicate blue and purple leaves.

Sienna's softer smile brightened immediately. "Is there really? That sounds like the perfect flower for my garden!" Something that beautiful would be spectacular, especially if it was right in front of the house so her parents could see when they came outside! "Oh but...you said the top of the cliffs?"

It was no secret that Sienna lacked grace. She often had bruised knees or some sort of scrap on her arms, simply from trying to exist in the world. Climbing that high...Well, it was more than unnerving. Could she do it without falling?

"I dunno, Quielle..."

"Mmmhmm." Quielle watched Sienna as the realization about the location of the flowers dawned on her. Maybe she wouldn't be having as much fun as she hoped then, especially not with that type of hesitation. "I guess you could dare me to go get them instead...but then you'd owe me another dare or something." She frowned and scratched at her neck thoughtfully. What was that game she had heard about? Usually it ended up with dares in her family, especially one days when they were watched by Chantara and their parents disappeared for a night, but there was another option if one didn't like to take the dare.

Oh! Quielle grinned as she recalled the other option and faced Sienna, a smirk crossing her lips as she pointed towards her sister. "A truth! So a truth or dare, right? Wanna do that?" Though honestly...what would she even ask Sienna if she didn't take a dare? Meh, I'll figure that out later or just have her spill something.

"Truth or dare?" She always had the worst time choosing and the last time they'd played Tsisia had gone pink in the face until she picked. Still, it wasn't as if Tsisia was here now and - well - it did sound fun. "Okay! Truth or dare? Which will you pick?"

Sienna moved to stand up, fully intending on starting their walk toward the cliffs, when the weight of her mud soaked skirt tugged her down. Thankfully she wasn't much for worrying about appearances and the youngling was only all too happy just to shuck it off.

"Dare, of course!" Quielle's silver gaze brightened at the very idea of a challenge. "I'm not afraid of anything!" In fact, she was probably a bit too reckless because of how little she feared anything. The youngling was always rushing into challenges and jumping out from the shadows to scare others, she just had too much fun being on alert and pushing herself to her limits even if it worried others.

She only slightly tilted her head at her sister's actions, Quielle just straightening her own tunic despite the splatters of mud that covered everything at this point. "Do you want to dare me to go get those flowers or something else? If you're going to tell me a truth instead of take a dare then I want something good, like a story no one else knows about!"

"I dare you to hold my hand until we get to the cliffs." Sienna stuck out her hand with a grin. "I know you're gonna go after the flowers anyway so I want you to hold my hand and we can go get them together." She might have asked her to skip too, but Sienna knew that was pushing it. If she could get by with this then she'd be happy enough.

"Well, in that case I'll take the truth then." It seemed like Quielle wanted her to anyway, so if it made her sister happy then why shouldn't she? "A story no one knows about....Okay, but...you gotta promise not to tell anyone." First she looked over one shoulder, then the other, before moving in closer.

"Remember when the honey went missing and then all of those ants wound up in Quetzal's bed? That might...have been me. I just wanted some honey before bed and I thought everyone was asleep so I took it back with me. But I heard a noise and I panic ran into the first door that was open. I thought it was our room, but it was his and I hid under his bed. Only he found me so I ran again and then...I forgot the honey so the ants came. But I hid it under a loose floorboard because I thought it was my bed and I don't know if anyone ever found it."

Quielle opened her mouth and then closed it, her gaze narrowing as she looked towards her sister's hand. "That's lame, but I guess." It wasn't as if Sienna was lying about Quielle's intentions. She would have used the dare as an excuse to have some fun with gathering the flowers which she was going to do either way, just in case someone got after her later for it.

"Of course." Quielle motioned like her lips were sealed before reaching out to take Sienna's hand as she listened to the story. "Really?" Rather than being upset though a laugh escaped Quielle. "Didn't our sister get blamed for that?" She was always pranking their brother and others all the time, after all! "I never would have expected you to keep that a secret. Talk about a surprise!" Here she was thinking that her sister would melt at one look and tell on herself, but she had managed to keep that accident a mystery! Quielle laughed again before flashing Sienna a bright smile. "Thanks for telling me." She did love hoarding her share of secrets, especially those of others so this was great.

Sienna just smiled all the brighter as she took Quielle's hand and started on their way. It wasn't often that she got to do things like this - Tsisia would do it if she wasn't busy, Quetzal might if she asked and Quielle...well, when she could find her sister it took a bit of cajoling, like it had just now. Still, she relished in her victory and gave the other youngling's hand a squeeze.

Different as they may be she loved her sister and would never waste an opportunity to show it.

"She did. And I felt really bad about it too, but if Tsisia ever found out it was me...Can you imagine what she'd do?" The retribution would be horrendous. Sienna would never live it down! "Just...promise you won't tell her?"

"Oh lots of things, I'm sure." Teased Quielle with a devious grin towards her sister. "But I won't tell, long as I have no reason to do so." She nudged Sienna playfully before tugging her along, holding tightly onto her hand as she navigated her towards the cliffs. It was enough secrets for now, especially since she had a task at hand. Plus, she was already covered in mud so it was the best time to climb those cliffs and try to dig out a few flowers for her sister's garden. Quielle nodded at the thought, a fierce determination crossing her features as they continued forward.
