She had been coming back from her favorite ramen shop, in fact the only ramen shop they had, so it was well that she liked it. Fresh and chewy with a rich broth, it warmed her from the inside out. She had forgone sushi today, favoring the rich filling alternaitve. She really must learn how to do that, she was sure her family would enjoy it as well.
She had no idea how much she would need that extra strength when clouds came in from the west. Lucky her that she had eaten her fill, however it was staring to rain and she had to go home, she usually didn't mind getting wet but she just wasn't feeling it today. She wanted to go home and curl up with a good book and digest her dinner. It wasn't every day they got to chose exacly what they wanted to eat, hers had obviously been noodles, the most epic of foods. It was time the rest of the family saw that too. It was no fun to eat alone.

Vhallas 1 Predictably he had been at the book store and to get more clay, Great Aunty was teaching him pottery and for once he was super interested in an acitivity. There was something so fun about the creative process and well, he liked how the clay felt in his hands, cool and wet and maleable to his will. Besides the shops never had any thing really cool and where else would his cactus collection go but in a cool pot? Particularly one homemade.
He thought it well worth the extra weight to carry home, his mother's janarim could help. He had riden him here with her permission. He was happy that he was finally able to do some things on his own. She could be a bit of a helicopter parent and then up and leave on a one month voyage the gods new where to bring in extra coin for their family while Dad hunted and picked up odd jobs, ever around, he felt kind of like a shadow. He really hoped that Mom and Dad would have another child so that maybe he could have some alone time or something.

She came around a corner and bumped into a young prentice such as herself that oddly to her looked vaguely familiar.
"Hey watch it!" She snapped then steadied them both by grabbing his arm with her cat like reflexes before they both just keeled over there in the street. She refused to apologize, he had been looking the wrong direction. Not her fault. She had in fact been having a very good day up until this point. She frowned, her mood easy to sour by the masses of humanity that infested towns and cities. People, yuck. She missed the kahi lands, there was an entirely different vibe there. Here it was all regular and boring and her heart and spirit she knew craved adventure that she could sink her teeth into. As she had come to town for soup...supreme soup that it was, she hadn't brought her radaku with her. If nothing else their solid furry presence had a moderating affect on her mostly sour mood.
"Do I know you?" She eyed him minutely, as if scanning his soul for errors or misprints.

Now this lady was some kind of spicey. It kinda reminded him of his Mom on a rampage. Now she had a fiery temper.
"Oh huh," he squinted. "We live just down the road from each other that must be why I look so familiar." He loaded the books into the saddle bags, they would keep dry in there.
"You look tired, could I escort you home perhaps?" It was the only polite thing to do and entirely true to bloodline. Besides he hoped that if he had a sister, someone would do something similar for them, or for a younger brother. It took a village after all.
And if she said no, he would be able to travel faster. The skies did not look patient though. The bags kept the books dry but not so for him. He was sure that a good soaking would not improve her temper.
He should be able to reach the hunters' cabin if nothing else, it would be dry. But if the sky held long enough they might make it home.
The first drops started to fall. "I think that this is going to be a big storm." He elucidated, "Like it might take a while to pass, so I would understand if you wanted to stay in town." If she had somewhere cozy to here it would be a better situation for her.
She looked a bit..high maintenance.

Yup, they needed shelter and fast too, the downpour if anything had just gotten worse as time went on. She was trying her best not to panic. Sh ewas not used to that emotion. As always she looked everything else straight in the eye. Problem was she couldn't look a hurricane in the eye as that meant sitting through the worst of the storm walls first. This she did not want to experience out in the open with just her skin and outdoor clothing for protection. He seemed to know what he was doing at least.
Tangible things; things that she could touch, she could outwrestle but abstract or ethereal things like the elements she could only outplan and unfortunately that had utterly failed her today. She would do her best next time, but right now she had to just deal with the consequences, that and her companion. He seemed very calm and she had to admit that she was jealous of his composure. This was a bigger storm than she had ever had to deal with outside, of course they happened every year but that was from the comfort of her home.

He kept his eyes peeled and managed to spot a cave that could house them until the storm had run its course. There was even enough room for the big janarim which would if anything help with temperature maintenance. He figured this gale might blow and carry on for two days. His parents had warned him about storms like this. He figured that a sailor and a ranger would know what they were talking about when it came to the weather especially in the area that his Mother had grown up.
"At least we will be dry in here."
He always packed wood wrapped oilcloth with him for just such scenarios and emergencies. His family believed in being prepared.
"I'll get a fire going, you just make yourself as comfortable as you can, hopefully we can dry out clothes out soon enough, I can turn my back." He was young but already a gentleman. The fire was lit soon enough and he fed it until a healthy flame emerged that threw off some heat. This would warm up the cave quicker than not and the slant of the ceiling formed a natural chimney that ushered the smoke right out and away from their faces which was an absolute blessing.

Having a large janarim in the cave also helped. She was not afraid of him being somewhat used to large predators. She looked sown at her outfit consideringly. It was thin, consisting of her regular top and a dark slitted skirt to help movement. It was good wear for Matori most of the time.
"Its okay, I have thin layers on, I will just keep rotating until they dry."
At least he had gotten the fire going and he didn't seem like a bad sort. She decided that since they were stuck in here for an indeterminant amount of time that she would let the walls down. Just this time for anyone but family. She took a deep breath and started. Perhaps this was how one made friends by just being a little more open a little less stoney and guarded.
"Thank you, I should have just stayed in town and I dragged you into this mess with me."
She curled herself into a ball unused to being so candid. It was definitely a big step forward into growth for her and it was pushing her comfort zone which somehow was a good thing despite it feeling so awkward. She didn't often talk to anyone but family. Then again she didn't often get out of the house either.

The rain continued to dump down outside, and he wondered at the storm, how long would it take to spin out and what caused the storm to form in the first place? He figured it could be some elementalists having a blast out on the sea, or just perfect conditions for the storm to form, as this one had. Life was such a spectacle.
" Suit yourself," he said, and stripped to most of his wet clothes off except the most important pieces. He was a boy raised by a racaus mom, therefore he had a good body image. But he also didn't blame her. They were nearly strangers, after all.
The fire warmed his soul nicely, and he was having a good time enjoying the warmth and ambience He always lived in the moment. It was one of his charms. For now, he was content to dry by the fire and be quiet. He did not need to talk constantly. And he sensed that she might need some quiet too. This could be quite scary if the storm went on a long time, it was a lot to adjust to. He hoped that his family were okay back home, there was no way he could get to them to check. Mom had said to always be vigilant.

She too thought about the storm and its impact on her day. It had changed her plans, but perhaps it had also opened her up to a new friendship, in which case it had ended up being a very good thing. Perhaps fate had had more in mind for her than that day than simply going home to be with her family.
She eyed her new companion. He seemed more intelligent than the average person, with a spectacular showcase of forethought and attention to detail seldom seen in those apprentice age, if she tried hard, she remembered that he was the great grandson of his clan's heads, Nin and Kiyelt and that he belonged to the daughter of their second son and fourth child, Ushiwa, one of the wolf twins, a power in his own right, and out of their first daughter, known as the Pirate Queen. Kacheri and Raolvar a ranger. An impressive pedigree, maybe that was why he seemed special. They had strong blood in that family. Only a few were not warriors of some sort.

Vhallas 5 He shook himself and decided to see if maybe she wanted to talk. He was getting bored, and she seemed very moody. For someone so young and pretty. Do you have any hobbies? His great ad was teaching him pottery, and he greatly enjoyed it. Despite himself, a creative outlet seemed necessary for a brilliant mind. He also enjoyed reading, swimming, fishing and camping, putting him firmly in the stereotype of his outdoorsy family, he borrowed books from Kiyelt, Thalassa, his mum, and pestered frequently to go to the bookstore. But that was the things about books. Sooner or later you finished them, and then you had to find another book, or alternatively, find something else to do entirely. Sometimes he felt rather forlorn after finishing a particularly good book, especially if its sequel wasn't out yet.
He sometimes found it hard to start a new project and at other times it felt like he started too many at once and nothing got done. Yet, focus was one of the hardest things sometimes especially when there was just so much outside to explore and learn about.

Hrafn 6 " Sure I do. I like to garden and travel." It wasn't much yet. She was young, and she was sure that she would find more things that she liked. Crafts are fun, and I really enjoy spending time and working with my radaku Their names are, Buck and Poison. I got them when our radaku and his mate had a litter in the backyard. Usually I travel everywhere with them, but I figured that shopping was safe enough and that they might cause distraction in the type of store I needed to go to."
She felt forlorn for a moment, but then she realized that there was someone else there, and she scooted around the fire slightly closer to Vhallas. It felt sort of odd to finally come out of her shell to someone else. "Have you read anything good lately? My parents read, and they're pushing me to. I just have a hard time focusing on a book when other things are more fun out there. She had a hard time staying still and even constantly tapped her toe in the air.

He grinned funny that you mentioned reading, that is one of my top hobbies. I find it a very cozy way to adventure to far off places and to learn about things that I might not have otherwise. I think it's cool that you have a radaku This big boy here is my mum's janarim. I have two myself, but this bloke is the most reliable, so mum sent him with me. She is overprotective and he likes me. So it works out in the end."
He paused and realized he hadn't really answered a question. "There was one book about a character who lived with a keldari in a beachside town and used his magic to heal others. That was pretty good, and I'm waiting on the sequel for another to come out, but the author seems to be taking their time about it."
That was one of the few drawbacks about reading, the fact that books took a long time to write. Maybe he would have to try it one day. Though it sounded like a bit of work.

"You have Janarim? That's very cool. I can't get over how very big they are in person. She loved predators, perhaps partly because they would not eat her precious plants, although perzi apparently sometimes would, which she found odd.
Her clothing was nearly dry now, and the fire was making the cave cozy.
"I'm really glad you had firewood stashed away. I wouldn't want to be out in acold cave with the weather doing this," she shuddered. "I guess I'll have to give reading an effort. It seems as though I'm missing out." Her parents would be thrilled. He resisted the urge to roll her eyes. " Do you have any siblings? I have a brother. Though he looks quite a bit different. He's got dad's blue skin and mom's reddish brown hair, but we have similar crystals, like mom's."
Ezlynn was a light in her life, even if he did frown upon her choice of clothing.

" Not yet. Mum and Dad haven't deigned to give me any although I keep hoping, it is a bit lonely and boring being an only child, though my extended family is huge, and that really helps. Oddly enough, I have an aunt quite close to me in age. We look kind of similar, same skin tone and all, but she got speckling and I got my dad's crystals. She has hair that looks more like yours as she inherited Great Grandma Nin's hair color. I also have a cousin, at least. I think that is what he is. Hard to keep track. And he got really different colors as he was born after his parents got color changed by that ancient tree phenomenon, so now its the older siblings that look different. Now that was a strange thing to have happen."
They wild away the time like this, chatting away, and he realized there was sometimes a lot more to people than the front they presented to the world. Though he may never have seen this more open side of her had they not been caught in this storm.
