Crocoite was hunting tonight.

There was no other way to describe it, when he got into a mood like this. All he wanted to do was find something he could hurt. Badly hurt. Something that would fight back, but not something strong enough to beat him. He was aware that he needed to get stronger, but the only way for him to keep pushing himself was to prove exactly what he could do. What he was good for.

While there were many things, in his mind, he was coming to find that hunting was something that he not only excelled at, but he thoroughly enjoyed. He was clever enough to pick through the auras, patient enough to stalk the ones that appealed to him, and strong enough to at least pose a threat when he finally broke the surface of the water and attacked.

Tonight, he felt his target and drew closer to it. There were other auras, some far away, some close, but he had focused on one already. once he had chosen his prey, even without knowing who they were or what danger they might present, he focused on it. The distractions were simply that. Targets for another hunt, maybe.

But not tonight.

He crouched on the edge of a building, looking down into a nearby alley. He was sure the aura was nearby, it was just a matter of pinpointing it. Something he was still practicing, and imagined would be even easier in time. The hunt was in his nature, yes, but his abilities stemmed from the power Chaos granted him.

He would prove himself worthy of more.

Ngome had finished work a few hours ago and was walking through the quiet alleyways of the city. She had decided to do a little patrol tonight. She had wanted to just get out of her apartment and do something.

Her heart raced as she quickened her pace, a feeling of unease settling in the pit of her stomach. Ngome sensed a presence behind her and instinctively turned around.

She couldn’t put her finger on it but something didn’t feel right to her.

Ngome took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves as she peered into the darkness of the alley. The streetlights cast long shadows, adding to the eerie atmosphere. She strained her senses, trying to pinpoint what had set off her instincts.

Crocoite almost snarled as he grinned, calling his weapon to his hand. He did not bother with the cane, the sword usually hidden within drawn and ready for a battle. It was thin but strong, sharp enough though it was mostly designed for slashing with the tip and, of course, stabbing.

Which suited him just fine.

The more he practiced and hunted, the more he came to appreciate his weapon as an extension of himself. He did not rely on it, not more than he relied on either foot or fist, but rather he felt like it as becoming one with him. He kept his hand wrapped around the neck of the crocodilian head that topped the cane, pointing the blade toward the sky for a moment.

His target was in sight. A knight, of course, and a silly looking one at that. Not that any of them were the pinnacle of style. Too flashy, too ridiculous. And he did not want to get himself started on their weapons. Ridiculous was not even a strong enough word for that. Growling, hatred bubbling just by thinking about them in general, he focused on the one in front of him.

Not blowing the element of surprise, as much as his approaching aura would allow anyway, he leaped down to the floor and charged at her back, drawing the sword down and behind him before lunging and stabbing it at her turned back.

Ngome's muscles tensed as she sensed the looming danger. Without a second thought, she swiftly pivoted on her heel, narrowly dodging Crocoite's blade as it slashed through the air where she had stood moments before.

It was a Chaos member. She took a moment to regain her composure.

She took a moment to regain her composure, her mind quickly processing the situation. The Chaos member before her was a formidable opponent, his eyes filled with a fierce determination that sent a shiver down her spine. Ngome knew she had to be cautious; this fight would not be an easy one.

She didn’t have a weapon of her own. Well, she didn’t have a weapon that could do bodily damage.

Why people like him like to choose violence over reason baffled her, but she didn't have time to dwell on that now.

“Typical, attacking someone from behind.”

"Sometimes, the classics are still effective, particularly in battle." He stood tall and with his sword at his side, arm straight and pointing the tip of the blade toward the pavement. He kept his feet set apart, balanced so that he could move quickly if he needed to.

Either in response to an attack, which did not seem to be immediately coming, or, more to his favor, to launch one. He grinned wickedly and offered a leisurely shrug.

"At least you have good reflexes. You might make this a little fun. Where's your weapon, little knight?" He had a feeling something was amiss. He had not been able to find Camelot and spy on him, like he usually liked to, and Ekanite had no real information about Painite, either. With them off the grid, as far as he knew, he had nothing to focus on beyond his knight hunts. But something in the air was shifting, something strange.

He charged, launching a straight forward attack. He swiped his sword at her, wanting to test her skills more than anything else, but also not holding back. He aimed to hurt or kill any time he attacked, regardless of if he was information gathering: if the knight was not skilled enough to offer him interesting details, then they probably deserved to get sliced to ribbons.

Ngome knew she had to play smart in this situation. She saw an opportunity as Crocoite's sword swung towards her. With a swift kick, she spun out of the way and kicked the back of Crocoite's knee.

"You should know better than to underestimate a knight," Ngome said, her tone firm yet calm. She knew she couldn't afford to let her guard down for even a second against such a formidable foe.

Ngome swiftly moved away from him, putting some distance between them to reassess the situation. She focused on her training, her mind calculating the best way to approach this fight. She may not have a sword, but she had her wits and agility on her side.

Crocoite laughed, though he had to gather himself after being kicked in the knee. Yes, it hurt, but he was able to eat that damage for the thrill of the hunt and because allowing her to land the hit brought her closer to his strike range.

He was not a long distance fighter, really. Brawling was not always his style, though he did have to admit that it was a good way to relieve some stress if he could find a weak enough opponent. He was getting more comfortable with it in a pinch, but it was not his favorite way to fight. No, he preferred to wait and lure his prey in, so he could deliver a deadly, or crippling, move to secure the battle to his favor. Clamping jaws down and not letting go, metaphorically.

"I would think one needs to be taught a lesson like that, for them to be able to 'know better'," Crocoite snarled. Though, of course, he had lost more than a few fights with knights and certainly knew better than to let his ego and desire for strength override his common sense. But when the hunt called to him, he was more than cocky.

He charged after her, but mostly seemed to be giving chase, just to see what she would try next. he had a target in sight, a plan in mind, but he was not in a rush. He opted to play with his food for a little, now that he had been thoroughly distracted with the promise of a fight.

Ngome kept her focus sharp as she evaded Crocoite's advances, her mind racing with strategies to outmaneuver her opponent. She knew she couldn't let her guard down for a second against someone as cunning and relentless as him. As he lunged towards her, she anticipated his move and swiftly dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding his blade once more.

Ngome knew she had to keep moving, to keep Crocoite on his toes and never give him a moment's respite. She circled him, her eyes locked on his every movement, searching for any hint of weakness.
