Nasuri adjusted the delicate fabric of her gown as she navigated through the opulent room, a polite smile gracing her lips as she exchanged pleasantries with fellow guests. The atmosphere buzzed with lively chatter and the strains of music, but despite the extravagance surrounding her, Nasuri couldn't shake the sense of annoyance that had settled over her. Today she was irritated that she’d been dragged here by a friend. A friend who had instantly left her for some military boy as soon as they’d entered. That’s all women her age seemed to be interested in nowadays, something Nasuri wasn’t too involved in. She was still trying to figure things out for herself, she couldn’t have to think about a husband on top of things too.
A burst of fresh air was much needed, and as she made her way to the balcony, the cool night air provided a welcome respite from the stifling confines of the party. Leaning against the ornate railing, Nasuri gazed out at the sandy gardens below, the soft glow of the moon casting an ethereal light over the landscape.
Lost in thought, Nasuri was startled when she noticed another woman on the balcony. "Quite the affair, isn't it?" Nasuri remarked, her voice tinged with a hint of wry amusement. "I must admit, I find these gatherings dreadfully tedious at times."
