Cass powered up and waited for his brother, they were in the park, where honestly they all trained. Maia favored the park for small training and a big abandoned lot for bigger things. She promised after her daughter was born she’d do a little of a bigger session like she had years back. Shang said he might be able to organize something before then, but honestly they were all very busy people. Adults with busy lives, fighting a secret war most of the city didn't even seem to know about.
Some people saw them as vigilantes, some terrorists, but he believed the majority preferred not to think about it.
“Come on Hali, geez. Better not have gotten distracted by wifey again,” he mumbled.
In truth he did in fact get distracted by his wife.
Hali had just appeared after Palm had mentioned it, chuckling, “Look…Not my fault she wanted a quickie before I left.” In fact , said quickie gave him more energy rather than less. He was wired up. “Ready to get started?” He already knew his brother would be fun to fight as he usually is. There was a quick stretch and he got into a fighting stance, “What? Your wife is not trying to do the same?” It wasn't a jab, just a surprise…He knew Mercy could be just as bad as Cass when it came to bedroom activities so he wasn't surprised she wasn't trying to keep him tied to the bed or something.
Palm rolled his eyes, “you say that like you didn't want it as well. s**t you probably initiated it.” He chuckled and nodded when his brother asked if he was ready. He waited for him to stretch, having had plenty of time to do so while he was waiting for his brother.
“Well you know how she is, currently half ready to jump me one moment, too pregnant and mad I made her that way the next. It is what it is.”
He grinned shuffling his feet ready to get started, “Let’s go Hali.”
He ducked low and went after his brother.
Yeah, that sounded like his sister-in-law.
Hali chuckled and crossed his forearms to block one of Palm’s fists, moving quickly with a counter kick meant for his side. It was a good thing they were sparing against each other, would be a nice way to let off steam, and they would be patrolling partners anyway. Hali does work best with his little brother, because they can tag team successfully (granted with Vimi they also work great as well.), and Palm can bring him back if he gets too bloodthirsty.
Palm turned to block his brother’s kick, bracing himself, a little too close to dodge, taking a lot of the force of the kick with his arms. He waisted no time ducking down to sweep his leg out and potentially knock his brother off his feet.
Palm hopped up quickly ready to go on the offense, grinning, he’d loved sparring with his brother since the man had taught him how to fight as a preteen. “Gotta do better than that bro.”
Hali fell onto his backside with a grunt, getting back up with a cheeky grin, “Oh how do you know I was even trying?” Next was an uppercut with a follow-up kick aimed at his shin. Since this was a spar he would need to fight like they were actually out here fighting for their lives to make sure they didn't grow too comfortable.
His brother was quick for as big as he was, but Palm had a slight advantage speed wise. Hali was taller and larger than Palm and Palm would always be the little brother literally, even Dmitry was a tiny bit taller than him. He barely avoided the upper cut, stumbling back to avoid it, but he wasn’t so luck with the kick to his shin.
“Damn Hali,” he said, shuffling away while he bore the pain pulsing in his shin. Still he knew not to let up, shuffling forward quickly a moment later to feint to the left before throwing a kidney shot at Hali’s right.
He grinned again, having fun.
“Damn nothin, we gotta go at this like we’re actually in the thick of it. You know your opponent will not care about hurting you at the end of the day. I didn't use all my strength cause I'm not trying to cripple you, your wife would find a way to murder me in my sleep or something.” He was sure Mercy would find a way too, with her being a nurse and all. Hali took the kidney shot with a grunt, replying in kind with a hit that would’ve been aimed straight for his face. He stopped just short of hitting him, using his right hand to throw a kidney shot of his own.
Palm felt fully chastized, leave it to Hali to make him feel like a kid again. He certainly heard those words before. Of course Hali would never really hurt him, but he wasnt above knocking some sense into his thick skull. He threw his arms up to block the shot coming at his face and only caught the movement of his brother kidney shot too late to fully block, taking the brunt of his brother’s blow to his side and stumbled.
Still he managed to stay upright, head in the game. He charged his brother and turned his body into delivering a kick to his brother thigh home to send him crashing to the ground.
“She would definitely try to kill you, but for real, lets be honest … she would have to make it past your wife first.”
Rose could be chill, but when she meant business it was damn obvious. All the Jacobs had that about them in different ways.
Halli wasn't expecting the kick so that was kudos to his little brother on that end. Hali did stumble, but he recovered and came back with the spartan kick aimed directly at Palm’s midsection, a bit of a savage grin on his face. “True. While Rose would stand on business at any point in time, Mercy is horrifying with that ******** vindictive a** temper.” He wasn't saying his wife wouldn't be able to hold her own since he knew she more than well could, but also the pomeranian was a persistent little s**t if she’s given the right motivation.
After the kick, Hali ran forward and slid, trying to get Palm to fall to the ground. Why not add a little bit of baseball to their training? Maybe Palm can learn this and use it out there in the wild. Not that they’ve encountered any negaversers before…Something he was kind of looking forward to, if only to test his skills.
Palm frowned because Hali only stumbled not that he was surprised, his brother was a fighter by trade. He wasn't expecting the spartan kick, and him not landing flat on his a** when it was delivered let him know Hali certainly held back with that one, not that it matter, while he was grasping his aching chest Hali knocked him clean off his feet.
He groaned rolling and throwing a punch at his brothers calf even though his chest, and whole right side now hurt. He was probably going to have a bruise and Mercy was going to be less than pleased.
“Maybe we should patrol now, before you bruise me up anymore. Good match, though, sliding into home was interesting.” He rolled his eyes at his brother, pretty done and also not wanting to get Hali to reared up.
Hali took the hit to the caf, laughing while laying on the ground. He was a bit disappointed they didn't keep going but clearly his little brother knew him better than anyone and that would be a one way ticket to him playing for keeps. He picked himself up and walked over to his little brother, offering his hand. “Yeah I suppose it's time to be somewhat productive.” Patrol was boring though and he didn't understand how Mu Arae was getting all the action she was talking about, it didn't seem like anyone was around when he went out with his brother, but maybe that was a good thing.
