The Crystal Garden (2): The Crystal Garden takes up the majority of the Event Hall and is an expansive collection of hand crafted crystal flowers created specifically for this event. The garden is impressive and magical; while there is little effort to make identical replicas of the flowers used for inspiration, each cut of crystal seems to capture the light and make the flowers glow. Many of the flowers are easy to recognize and are true to life in size and shape, but there are sections of the garden with flowers that come in fantastical sizes and shapes. It feels like stepping into another world. During the daytime, the natural light from the glass windows and sunroof makes it easy to see fine details, and when the sun goes down, the artificial lighting spreads beautiful rainbow prisms across the ground and walls. No matter what time of day you visit the garden, you’re guaranteed a beautiful sight. There are several locations specifically designed for photographs you can take on your own, but the venue has also hired professional photographers to help you capture yourself in the moment.

There were times that even she surprised herself. Amora had found herself in possession of a pair of tickets that had been gifted to her for an Valentines themed event. Instead of passing them off to a random passerby she had hung onto them. Why had she though? Perhaps it was just the chance to experience something as her civilian self that kept her from tossing the tickets out. The tricky part had been convincing someone to go with her. And that had been a chore. Even now as she tucked away the raffle ticket that she had been given upon arriving at the event hall did Amora peer over to see where her "date" for the evening was. Of course she wasn't dating Reed but she had invited him to join her in the evening. Slipping off her coat and handing it to a waiting attendant who'd take her coat to a room did she suddenly feel a little self-conscious in what she had chosen to wear. Dark green fabric wrapped around her frame with filigree designs that could have been pulled directly from her powered appearance.

She had spotted the dress ages ago and had only bought it for the reason that it made her feel like she could simply slip into it and pretend that she was going out as Hylonome instead of Amora. Confidence booster perhaps, but it was doing the trick tonight. Her sleek brown hair fell down to beyond her shoulders before she slipped a green hairband into place to keep the look simple, yet classy.

A pair of simple flat, dress shoes completed her appearance as she waited for Reed to join her. It was odd to be here as civilians, but she needed to at least try to be normal, didn't she?

Reed still wasn’t quite sure how he’d gotten himself talked into this—-
Then Remembered the soft yet determined look on Amora’s face, the events laid out in fine print, in broad strokes in a pamphlet. The way at least a few of the events detailed there-in had caught his eye. He didn’t want to deny her or to deny himself, a little well earned fun. Didn’t know how to tell her that he hadn’t been on a date since—-

Gods—-

Was it high school? Was it the last destiny city gala nearly a decade ago? Had he been eighteen? Nineteen? He couldn’t quite remember anything other than vague feelings of trying and failing at being suave, nailing awkward, admiring the scenery around him far more than the people themselves.

Realized he wouldn’t have that issue tonight, here, with her. How easy she was to spot in the crowd, how well they’d compliment each other with him in dark, earthen loafers and a a dark purple suit trimmed in silvers. The typical kerchief the piece had come with had been replaced with one that bore lavender print. It smelled like lavender, too! He’d kept it in a little box for just such a rare occasion. Had a box full of small compartments, made of teakwood and elm, tucked away in the bottom of his closet. A secretive container that held just one more of his many branching hobbies; kerchiefs. Ones with pine needles, with cactus thorns, with lime scents. All of them dabbed with different oils, all of them with details embroidered by hand — and not always steady care or precision — because he’d been learning to do it all on his own. Had experimented with various threads, spun hemp, milkweed, garden vines and pure cotton—

Wanted for just one more thing that reeked of nature in his life. For the once in a blue moon rare occasion such as this— A ‘not date’ for ‘galentines’, to name something so lovey-dovey after a massacre, a pissy saint, an ancient Lupercalian festival. To turn it all into a hallmark day of a cash grab for companies seeking to exploit either the lonely or in-love.
Ah, yes, well, all that aside?

It made him feel like Gal’entine's day or Pal’entines day, were at least closer to his own momentary goals. Those goals being to take Amora out and show her a relatively good time. To enjoy that time himself. With her. As friends. Looking at plants!! So many plants—

And while the Crystals were the draw, Amora was the center of the room. He approached her with a smile that bordered on sheepish at being fashionably late, and gave up the outermost layer of his suit-jacket at the behest of some coat-nabbing attendee. Apparently it’d be warm in the place, between the bodies present and the ideal humidity for the flowers that were not of the crystal variety.

“Have I ever told you how good you look in greens? It’s as much your color as white—“ that felt like the most apropos thing to say, felt like honesty. Bald faced and open as a fresh bloom. It was the truth, after all. He’d always admired her colors before. How well she wore them, guised, glamored and even when not? She still looked lovely in them. “And would you look at that, we compliment each other. I think, tonight? We’re going to have a great deal of fun—“ and he produced a token of gratitude, a small thanks for the invite — a small, filigree edelweiss in a velvety box. “It felt—right? I mean, obviously it’d suit you. They had quite a few crystal brooch flowers and other trinkets in the gift shop, and, well? I wouldn’t want to be a poor date. Even if it’s just for fun.” his tones secretive, growing ever softer amidst the din as he trailed off and offered the pin up properly.

At Reed's appearance Amora felt her lips quirk up in the smallest hint of an amused smile at his crisp purple suit. There was nothing at all wrong with the color but it was very peculiar how they both tended to stay close to the shades of their predominant uniform colors. Reed being purple, and her color of green. Even as she observed in silence did she attempt to hide the grin that wanted to emerge as Reed was beset by an individual who was hastily taking off to places unknown (well, more like a coat room) with Reed's jacket draped over their arm. Even as Reed approached her and graced her appearance with a fine compliment did Amora feel her cheeks warm before subtly brushing back an errant hair to tuck behind her ear. Her eyes sparkled for a moment as the box was presented to her before she found her words, "thank you kind sir, your words mean a lot to this wayward damsel."

She locked her gaze with Reed's before she broke out in a small burst of laughter, "was that too corny? But seriously, I do appreciate the sentiment behind your compliment. I'm glad you could make it. So ... what's in the box?"

Even as Reed opened the box did Amora crane her neck to peer inside. The filigree edelweiss pin that was nestled in the velvet box drew a surprised exclamation from the brunette. She had not expected that token of appreciation from Reed but she should have expected something like it. "Oh, this is absolute exquisite."

And the truth of the matter was, it exactly was as Amora described it. Gently her fingers reached into the box and dug out the pin before she held it up to the light that was the general ambience in the hall. It was a beautiful keepsake and with quick motions did she manage to fasten the pin to sit right over her heart.
