Quote: The Crystal Garden (2): The Crystal Garden takes up the majority of the Event Hall and is an expansive collection of hand crafted crystal flowers created specifically for this event. The garden is impressive and magical; while there is little effort to make identical replicas of the flowers used for inspiration, each cut of crystal seems to capture the light and make the flowers glow. Many of the flowers are easy to recognize and are true to life in size and shape, but there are sections of the garden with flowers that come in fantastical sizes and shapes. It feels like stepping into another world. During the daytime, the natural light from the glass windows and sunroof makes it easy to see fine details, and when the sun goes down, the artificial lighting spreads beautiful rainbow prisms across the ground and walls. No matter what time of day you visit the garden, you’re guaranteed a beautiful sight. There are several locations specifically designed for photographs you can take on your own, but the venue has also hired professional photographers to help you capture yourself in the moment. Contributing artists are credited along the back wall, and if players have characters with glass or crystal skills they are permitted to have donated to the display. If your character is a professional photographer, you can also play them as employed at the venue. Crystal flowers wasn't something most people he knew would be interested in, it was something most would dislike, and while he could have asked Fiona he was planning to take her to see the paintings on a different day. Today was a day to take Abberdean out and spend some time with his younger cousin. He'd offered to pay for the day out, for the tickets, food, and anything else she might want. He assumed she'd have food at the free buffet but he also was willing to pay for food elsewhere which she might want afterwards.
The tickets had been paid for and he'd led her off to see the crystal garden and all it's flowers. As they entered the room Alexandre took a moment to pause and stare. "I can't imagine how long it took to make this whole room..." He whisperd to her. "The price tag as well....that would make anyone in our family think twice." Though many family members could afford a room like this, no doubt, but it was still alot and no doubt had a high price tag. "Though I can't see anyone wanting to pay for a room like this either." He kept his voice low, just above a whisper, as he stepped further into the room finally.
Dressed in a simple black cashmere top and black slacks he was dressed simply but well, the clothing looked simple but the price tag was enough that most would choke hearing it. He went with quality clothing and really didn't think a thing of it.
"What do you think Abberdean?"

Today was going to be exciting! She was going to spend the day with Alex and they would go and see the crystal garden that was up for the big Valentines day celebration. While crystal flowers were exciting and pretty, she wished it was for something other than the dreaded holiday. Ugh she didn't understand the purpose of doing romantic things for one day of the year. While she wasnt a romantic herself, she firmly believed that if you were going to have a significant other then why not treat them romantically all times of the year? It just didn't make sense to her and that was why she hated Valentines day. It was a shallow, gross time of the year where everyone pretended to love each other the most. Even her parents did something special for the holiday, which just grossed her out even more. At lease Alex wasnt like that (that she knows of) and she could count on him not to make things all gross or awkward. Abby's eyes widened at all the beautiful artistry in the room, "Probably ages. Its so beautiful though. Mother would have loved to come visit here." Alas her mother would only come to such an event if her father was with her, which sadly daddy could not make it, citing work as the reason which she whole heartedly believed. His security business was everything to him and so important to the family as it is. "The room could use a bit of an upgrade..." She whispered back, thinking that a lot of the furniture was pretty dated for it being such an expensive room. But then again, most assumed the rich liked old renaissance furniture. Dressed in a pretty dress with her nails done to match and her cute wedge shoes, Abby looked like she cost a fortune, which if she had to admit, she wasnt paying attention to the price tag when her father took her shopping a couple of days ago. "I think we should look around and take some pictures~" She wanted to make sure she took loads of pictures to show her mother and father as well as her other cousins whenever they meet up next.

"It is lovely, I'm sure making all the crystals took a very long time, and a lot of work." Thinking of the one family memebr who dealt with gemstones and the like, they were considered another outlier within the family. They hadn't gone into any of the usual buisnesses people would expect, something you typically went to university for, but rather they'd gone for a certificate in gemology which had only taken eighteen months. He remembered that they traveled - a lot and they bought and sold all manner of gemstones and even had pieces made for clients. There was a lot to the work they did and from time to time he knew they did pieces for family members - typically engagment rings and wedding bands. He'd seen an odd other piece here and there though. They had, to his knowledge, married a foreigner, no shock to Alexandre, from somewhere in Europe who also dealt in gemstones. Maybe, if he was ever curious enough, he could ask them what a set up like this would have cost in terms of money and time.
"Perhaps we should get your mother a ticket and maybe a few of our other aunts?" He questioned, thinking of Aberdean's mother perhaps going with a few other family members around her age. They could all enjoy the garden and take pictures and do whatever it was they did.
"I just hope we don't catch any couples snogging." He stated, a wrinkle of his nose following his words, he really did not like seeing such things. He was not the sort to do more than holding hands in public, he was a bit stuffy like that. And why did so many couples need to show off but only on valentines day anyway? At least the holiday itself was days away and they were here early...so thgey'd likely miss most of that nonsense. He would not be here on his birthday - he did not want to see such things.
"You don't like the furniture I take it?" He questioned his younger cousin gently. Personally he didn't mind it though it looked like it needed to be reupholstered, so it really did need to go. "I prefer other looks...it needs help, though I'm unsure if it can be helped." Though he was certain whoever worked for his grandmother could handle those sad pieces.

The face Abby made when her cousin mentioned not wanting to catch any couples snogging was one for the books. "Gross." was all she could manage to say to that comment. She didn't understand any sort of PDA that most couples did. Honestly, could they not wait till they were indoors? Even her parents were culprits of this sometimes! "The furniture just seems outdated. If it was restored a bit then maybe it would be passable. I dont understand what the renaissance era has to do with romance in this regard." The thought of mother coming to this event made her visibly cringe. "Perhaps, so long as I do not have to be the one to chaperone. Mother likes to talk and talk and talk. I dont mind socializing but I like to move and do other things while talking." Her mother suspected she might have ADD or ADHD and while she could be correct, she highly doubted it. Most of the symptoms associated with that she just did not have. Just because she liked to constantly be on the move did not mean anything other than the fact that she was antsy. Her mother could be ridiculous and over exaggerating sometimes. It was really tiring. "Could we go take a look at that crystal over there?" The shape reminded her of a mythical creature that you would find in a Harry Potter book.

"Yes, yes of course you find that gross. I just dislike couples displaying all those sorts of thing sin public - as if it's needed." He was not against it altogether, like some people were, he didn't have an issue with such things beind done at home or at least outside of public places. Friends homes, family homes, anything but in public. He'd never been good with such things, either participating or watching, it simply wasn't his thing.
"I'm not sure if it is renaissance...." He spoke softly as he took out his phone to take some pictures. "If they would restore it and perhaps have someone reupholster it than it wouldn't be so bad." The pictures were saved, because he was curious when they were from as well as if they were Italian or French. He'd just have to find someone who had a clue on this sort of thing, because he did not. He knew paintings and styles, and periods, he could do a lot in that area but this...no. This he knew nothing about.
Rolling his eyes at Aberdeans words he shook his head slowly. "I don't know how you can complai nabout your mother talking when that is something we all do - every day." Refering to high tea and the conspiracies the family had every afternoon all across the city in various homes. It was time for them to nibble on food and talk, to gossip, and talk buisness while sharing and spreading information amongst the family. It was what they were good at. "So I've heard about you Aberdean." He wasn't in her same circles in the family, being a good bit older, when he went to high tea it meant he was with older people like Lorcan and Fiona, Hudson, Laurent, Colette, and others. They were all about his age so they'd all grown up together going to these gatherings.
Watching his y ounger cousin he nodded his head slowly. "Sure, it does look interesting anyway." Getting up from where he'd been taking pictures of the furniture they had decorating the area.

It wasnt her fault she just...Icked at romance and what not. It was a foreign concept to her, and she had zero experience in that department, which further caused her to turn away from it all together. As tempted as she was to comment on her cousins more personal affairs (from what was hinted at, its not like she's seen anything up close and personal...Also ick), Abby decided to snort and roll her eyes. Maybe she would change her mind one day if the right person came along (as if anyone could stand her haughtiness), then she would see what every one at Ballet said she was "missing out on". It was worse when everyone tried to put her and Andy together, which got squashed down rather quickly. Andy was her BEST FRIEND and nothing more, end of story. In response to Alex rolling his eyes, Abby huffed. "Because when mother talks it grates on my nerves. There is a difference when its every day talking and just disgusting gossip. I also cannot help that I cant stay still...There is a reason why father has me in all these activities." Alex was a snippy little thing sometimes, or at least that's how she interpreted it. "Besides, I wasnt able to hang out with everyone else since I was younger, so pardon me if my behavior is a bit...Behind." Sure she was eighteen, but in reality she felt more like she was still fourteen, well aware that it showed with some of her mannerisms and the way she reacted to most things. Being immature sucked but she was about to admit to that out loud.

"I figured you just took on all those activities because you wanted to be diverse in what you did." He spoke honestly as he looked over his cousin for a moment. She was a very active person, he had no idea how she had the energy for it all, but she seemed to just take to all manner of things. "It certainly seems like you've taken on a little bit of everything, it's a wonder really." A wonder she had time to sleep, or that she had the energy for so many activities. She somehow had the energy though, he wasn't sure how though.
"Mmm, you could just direct your mother to something you want to talk about. Steer the conversation so she can't do that?" He questioned while walking with Aberdean to look over the crystal flowers, they were lovely. Again he wondered just what the worth on some of these was, it must be high on some of them, they were well made and the colored bright and flashing under the lights.
Pulling out his phone, again, he took more pictures and decided to post a few to the social media account he did have. He didn't use it much, he liked to keep away from social media, but he did post these pictures with a quick comment to go with the pictures. Alexandre had instagram but he didn't use it often, didn't post much, he didn't feel a need to show off his life and what he did for strangers to see. He would rather be focusing on the life he was living and keeping it together, and enjoying it, but the flowers were something he did want to share with the very few people who looked at his posts. "It's nothing against you Aberdean, I'm just...having an off week." he knew he was likely coming across short and not as plesent as usual. But he really couldn't help it right now, as a few people knew. "I'll be back to normal soon enough." Because he had to be.
