Since the weather was a bit warmer than usual he had managed to convince his mother to let him walk down to the shop his father ran. Of course he had plans to play with some of the village kids before he actually got there. That way he wasn’t a complete stranger and hermit among them. He knew his brother often times met up with them when he got to go on small errands.

Her parents had brought them up north for some job or another. She hadn’t really paid much attention to it honestly. Her interest had never really been in what her parents did. Instead she’d wandered off the moment she could. Oddly enough Ishani hadn’t followed her which she found odd in itself. So she was standing in the middle of the road looking around for signs of her twin to see if the girl had simply lagged behind.

Along the way he took note of someone standing in the way. Literally in the middle of the road. And they weren’t from around here. He paused and crossed his arms over his chest as he watched, a brow raised. “What on Mount Xi are you doing?” He asked snarkily. Didn’t this girl know that she wasn’t supposed to stand there? What if a cart came through with a mammu?

When she heard the voice of some snarky kid she turned to look at them. Her nose wrinkled up a bit and she gave them a once over. “I’m existing, can’t you see that? Or do those eyes not work?” If they were going to be rude then she’d be rude right back. There was no point in her trying to be nice to someone like that.

He snorted and rolled his eyes. “Right. Well why don’t you exist somewhere else.” He un-crossed his arms and pointed to the side. “You’re in the middle of the road so move, hybrid.” If she blocked the way then people couldn’t get through which meant goods wouldn’t get delivered or bought. Which meant business to his dad's store would be impeded.

She narrowed her eyes when the boy called her hybrid. “I’ll stand where I want to.” Her hands went to her hips in defiance. Now she would simply stand there to spite them. What was she hurting by being there? She was small enough that people could go around. “How about you mind your business.” What harm was she doing by standing there waiting anyways?

“You being in the way is my business.” He snapped back at her. “You are blocking the way to my dad’s store.” He pointed down the way to his final destination. Not that he expected the girl to know which one he pointed to. “So get moving.” He took up a more puffed up stance as he fully expected her to listen to him.

She huffed and turned so that she was fully facing him, keeping one hand on her hip. “Listen here you little brat. I will do what I want and you can run along to your mommy if you don’t like it.” She was really starting to hate it here. She hoped her parents finished the job quickly so they could leave. “Better yet, go to your daddy’s store and shut up.”

“Excuse you.” He was stunned that this girl would back talk like that. Didn’t she realize she wasn’t in her own town? He took a step toward her and shook his head. “Or you can leave and go back to where you came from. If you even know where that’s at.” He sneered at her. He knew she was some type of wind hybrid but beyond that he wasn’t sure.

When the boy took a step toward her she smirked at him. “Get any closer and I’ll take it as you want to fight.” Now it was her turn to cross her arms over her chest. It really was too bad that her sister hadn’t tagged along with her. The two of them could pummel this boy into the icy ground, fun sibling time. “So back off twerp.”

He gave her a look. “Why would I want to fight you.” He shook his head. “You’re a defenseless girl.” Didn’t she know that? He looked her up and down. From the looks of it she wasn’t much. She looked skinny. He was fairly certain there was a youngling in town that could push her over. He knew his cousins could do it.

Well that did it. She glared at him before she moved forward and with both hands she pushed him. She put her force on his shoulders and aimed to knock him down. “Oh yeah?” Harlei thought she should have punched him but it was too late to take her actions back now. And maybe a punch was too much for a first move?

When he was pushed he stumbled back a few steps but remained on his feet. “Hey!” That wasn’t fair, nor ladylike. So he regained his footing and the distance in which she’d made him lose between them so that he could return the push. “Keep your filthy hybrid hands to yourself.” While he accepted his family he wasn’t fond of others.

When he returned the action she moved back only one step as she had been expecting him to retaliate. She was quick to regain her ground and when she did her fist came flying in as well. The hybrid girl would swing and hit the boy in the chin. “Then mind your business and stay away from me.” She half growled out her words.

He wasn’t expecting her to throw a punch. Another push maybe. That was why he’d planted his feet. So when the fist landed on his chin his head went back and he almost fell over, it took him a second to move his feet to keep upright. One hand flew to his chin to cup it gently and feel for blood. When there was nothing he turned a glare on the girl before he moved to hit her back. Though unlike her he did not make a fist, he aimed to slap her upside the head. “Stupid hybrid, you don’t just punch people!”
