Quote:
Prompt 5 (Ice Bath): Rainfall is rare in Destiny City during Winter; there have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into one of these icy puddles and the thin layer of ice shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever been in the area before you know it’s just a pothole a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting into it as if it were a lake of icy water. It’s pitch black around you and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you just experienced is real--except for the fact that you’re still soaking wet.

Chess was not on the schedual for tonight but energy gathering was, it was becoming something they did more and more often when they met up, but Alexandre wasn't goign to complain. At least he wasn't losing so many chess matches against his cousin, because Lorcan seemed bored with the quick wins, he couldn't help but feel bad losing so easily to the other. He was sure he was boring him at times, if only it wasn't for the questions his cousin kept asking him, he was certain Lorcan would stop these meetings over chess.

Walking along side his cousin he was waiting for the questions to come, he knew they would, some were personal and some were not but there were always questions for him to answer. He was accepting of it, it didn't upset him, though he did worry from time to time what his cousin would ask him. "Alright, you can start asking." The smaller general spoke softly, breatgh coming out as a chilly cloud of air.

His hands were stuffed into the pockets of his coat, to keep them warm, as he looked ahead, ignoring the ground beneath their feet. He had no reason to worry about the ground since they were walking on pavement and there was no worry of rabbit holes here.

It was cold tonight but it didn't bother him much in his uniform, the lining of his coat was made of something warm though he wasn't exactly sure what it was. It's not like there were labels with cleaning instructions or sizing on them. Something had come up, something he wasn't exactly sure of with his cousin. It seemed like that usual cycle of things had run its course and left them alone again. It hadn't been the shortest or longest stint he'd notice from them but something seemed different this time because he'd been closer to them when the whole thing had happened.

"Something's happened to you, hasn't it?" Watching them as he walked around the small patches of ice on the ground. He'd noticed it during the spar, during the last time they'd gone out gathering. Katya had noticed it as well, he quite liked how closely the alien cat had been watching over his cousin even if he still couldn't get quite over what she was.

"Happened?" Tilting his head he gave his cousin a questgioning look. "In what way?" A lot had happened, did he mean recently? Of course a lot had happened recently but he really wished to try and avoid things, to see what his cousin was thinking, this was his only means of not answering things...to delay and try and side track the other if he could.

"I mean I've been well as far as injuries and no battles recently. The only thing I've been doing is working with my plants, as you know." Seeing as he'd dropped off a load of books with his cousin recently, seeking the others assistence in the project he had going on. He had a feeling he knew what this question was really about, he was almost certain of it, but he'd keep trying to throw out other thigns for the otehr to bite at in order to delay and take his mind off the main thing.

Narrowing his eyes at his cousin he crossed his arms. Again they were dancing around the topic, the one they both knew was what he had meant with his question. As much as he hadn't liked the tart, he was starting to prefer not seeing the aftermath of a cycle that kept repeating. Every test had come back negative too which was a surprise when considering things.

He'd play along for now though, at least a bit because he really didn't want to know the details exactly. He just wondered how many more times they would go through this cycle before giving up or breaking through to the end of it. "Something's changed, I noticed it with our spar as well as with the spar with that Sharp fellow." Pausing for a moment he sighed and shook his head. "Though I guess if you were assigned a large project I can understand the pressure that must have as well. I started looking over things and pulled a few sources but there is still a lot of material for me to go over as primer." Looking at them knowingly, he knew it wasn't that but still he was trying to be a bit gentle if things had blown up in his cousin's face.

"Mmm, I'm sure you did. I did enjoy both spars though to be honest, I did hold back a lot with you and Aoede where I didn't have to as much with Chal." Since the other could give nearly as good as he got, just like he had told his cousin and Aoede. "As I told you both - he is capable. He might look, and sound, weak but there is a certain amount of steel there...just hidden under everything eles. You just have to dig a bit." Or really poke at him, it was like poking at a sleeping dragon really. It was good to know that a senshi had poked that dragon and wound up dead for their efforts - poor thing. It really wasn't smart to attack that which Chalcanthite held dear...he'd lost so much over the years he was bound to kill for what he still had.

"I've had this project for a while now...and the whole project I took on myself really. I could have burned the plants when I found out they were gathering energy. I just decided not to." He'd decided to make them into something better - bigger. Keeping his voice low as they spoke, incase anyone...or anything might hear them. Who was to say if a cat might not be close enough to hear them? Cats did have good hearing and he didn't care to be overheard tonight.

"I know I gave you a lot, I;ve gone over it all myself so I know it's a lot. It's what I've been beating my head against for a while now. You know medical things in a way I don't." Which was why he was asking his cousin for help. They could do this together because they each had a piece of the puzzle and could make the whole.

"Tell me, how have you been finding balancing your life with this part of your life? If you need anything let me know. I'll even make up quota for you iof need be." Because it really wouldn't be all that hard for him to do.

"It was a good fight to watch, he's very creative with that bow of his it seemed, and... that other weapon... I wasn't aware that you could have more than one. It hasn't come up with what I have been reading through though maybe it is locked behind information for those of higher rank." Following along, he avoided a few larger patches of ice as they became more common on this sidewalk.

"I see... so it's been in a stasis of sorts while you worked out the kinks. I think what you gave me is fine, I managed much more than that in med school. I will do my best to assist with things, though finding a group to run trials with may be difficult." Leaning his head from side to side as he thought, his expression serious as he went through the ethical and unethical ways it could be approached given the fact that this wasn't something related to his civilian work.

Waving his hand a bit in a noncommital motion he decided maybe he would poke a bit after he answered them."Everything has run according to schedule on both sides of things though when we get farther into things on your project I may take you up on that offer, if only for a bit during the stage where I am working with compounds. But, how have you been balancing things? You haven't come for your weekly blood draw either which can only mean one of two things. So which is it?" Either it had ended or something had turned serious though he knew it couldn't be the latter based on their mood, there was so much more restlessness in his cousin than he'd seen since they'd been getting along with that tart.

"Something like that, I've not been idle with the projects but rather working on building a supply of plants and growing what I think I'll need for the smaller project which I've brought you in on. Any plants I can think of which help with energy I've been growing." He even had mushrooms growing, though they weren't as hard as some other things. It still wasn't the easiest of things, this whole project was larhe and would take time. he'd be ready by spring though - he was certain of it.

"Of course, I have a set up down there, which I'll show you, so you can tinker with compounds all you'd like." It was a bit like a mad scientist if he thought about it for a moment, though not really mad per say, but there was a certain vibe and mental image to it all. He'd let his cousin use the facility he'd been provided, ad it would help them both. "I'm growing enough plants to start bringing them up into the city and letting them grow amongst the normal people." Where they would gather energy which would in turn be harvested by officers.

That last bit was somewhat unexpected, or rather the wording wasn't expected, and he stumbled and not paying attention to the ground he felt his foot keep going down...down and past the pavement. The shock on his face when he not only stepped into a puddle but plunged right into the puddle and into the icy waters was immense. Who would have thought this. As he was weighed down by the heavy layers of fabric, now wet, he tried to move his arms to get himself up, and out, but he was far too heavy to manage it even iwth the strength he had. Panic filled his eyes as he stared up at the light which was becoming smaller and smaller. He tried to hold his breath, to keep the panic at bay, he couldn't take a breath right now to do so would be death.

"Makes sense to have a stockpile in case something works out so you can proceed accordingly." Nodding along as they spoke, he was already making plans on how to approach things once he managed to get down to see their setup. It may not be his forte but the challenge seemed like a good excuse to go to more seminars and widen his knowledge of things.

The other question had gotten to his cousin though but then something unexpected happened and they had plunged through the water of the icy puddle they had stepped in. "s**t." Dropping down to the ground quickly, he managed to get a grip on their cape but it hadn't been enough. He reached into the puddle, into the icy waters, as he searched for their hand or anything of them he could grab. "Come on, come on, I know you're in there somewhere." After a bit longer, he felt their wrist and pulled, trying to get them back up and out of the ice. This city and its magic, he really hated that he knew more about it. It wasn't settling well with him now that he knew how much of it was here.

He had felt something solid encircle his wrist and he was being pulled, pulled towards the light, he could see it growing brighter as he felt the pulling growing in strength. When he finally came splashing out of the puddle he landed on the pavement wet, soaked through infact, and shivering as he stared at his cousin.

"So damn cold." He was beyond cold and he knew this was going to get him tonight, and tomorrow, and he knew he should get them both home but he really couldn't stop shaking, shivering, and chattering his teeth enough to focus on teleporting them anywhere.

Clinging to his cousins arm he used it to hoist himself up so he was sitting on the pavement. "I can teleport us...text Katya....let her know." So she could cover their signatures. he knew it would be hard, take more focus than usual, but he'd need to force himself to focus just long enough to teleport. Walking home, or even driving, would be dangerous as the cold would set in and he'd l ikely wind up sick. Being soaked through like this for long would be bad for him and he wasn't willing to risk it.

"My home...please." So he could get himself into his own bed. He didn't care if Lorcan took over his guest bedroom, he was more than welcome to it, or whatever else his cousin might want in his home. His bed had more than enough blankets and likely more than his cousin had, he was certain he was more prone to being cold than Lorcan was.

Lorcan made sure his cousin was far enough away from any of the ice patches, just in case, before he pulled out his phone to message the Mauvian about their arrival. "She knows, ready when you are. I can stick around to make sure everything is alright for tonight." He knew the cold didn't do well for his cousin and maybe while they were sick he could get some more answers out of them, gently of course.

"I really dislike all this magic now that I know about it. At least when you get home we can work on warming you up." Sighing, he took his heavy coat off and wrapped it around his cousin to at least try and stop the wind from chilling them so they could focus on teleporting home instead of chattering their teeth.

Nodding his head he gripped onto the other and tried to not think of how damn cold he was, tried to think of his living room, and taking a slow breath he pushed on his magic to do the work he needed it to. Teleporting wasn't hard, not once you got used to it, it almost came as easy as breathing. But in a case liek this it took more effort than it had in a long while.

The landing in his living room wasn't the best, he landed on the floor rather hard but it was ok. At least his home was warm and he even had a fireplace in the living room. This place could get nice and warm.

"Thank you Katya." He knew she was here somewhere, and would no doubt hear him, as he looked over his cousin to make sure he was ok as well. Powering down he was at least in dry clothing, even if he was damp and wet. "You can have the guest room tonight then...shower first though." Because he really needed it and he knew it. Slowly getting up he hurried his shivering self up to his bathroom so he could warm up, leaving clothing along the way
