He’d had a lot of plants when he’d first moved them down to the greenhouse which he’d been gifted use of, his whole office had looked like some sort of jungle, but it wasn’t enough to do what he wanted, not by a long shot. He knew some might think he was doing nothing, stalling, or failing in his plans or that he even lacked plans altogether but that wasn’t the case. He needed more plants and so he was taking the fall and winter and putting those months to good use. The green house was full of more plants, of various types and sizes, the ashen blond general was working to grow enough things which they could then plant in the city.
He would, soon enough, go to one of the general kings to seek permission to start up a landscaping business. He’d hire those within the Negaverse to help him with this project of his, some officers he was sure could use a job and some money, so it would with any hope serve a dual purpose.
The easy part for him was planting and growing things, he was good at that, but trying to recreate something from world war two…that was a bit harder. Though really he just needed to replace the caffeine with something less harmful as far as he could figure it. He had plants growing for this project, in a sectioned off part of the greenhouse. He’d already gotten these plants well grown, lots of care and other things provided for them, he just needed to see what plant would provide the best results or if it would be a mix of two or more plants. The problem was testing things on people…he needed people to be lab rats for him and he didn’t think many would willingly offer themselves up for this.
Looking over at the plants, and the mushrooms, he had growing in the glass enclosed greenhouse, the blond sighed and sat back in his chair. Everything he was growing for this project had promise. It felt like he was trying to deal with medications and that was not his area of expertise really…but plants were and he knew what plants could do medicinally so he knew what they could do. It was just a matter of dosing for him as well as possible combinations.
Pulling his cell phone from subspace he wondered if he really should bring him into this. Biting down on his bottom lip he tilted his head as he leaned back in his seat. All around he had books on plants, on the chemical compounds of these plants, and finally he sent a text.
“Lorcan, as a doctor you know the chemical breakdown of medications - yes?”

It was always during chess, was his cousin a psychic? At least it was just a text and not a knock on his door with some sort of emergency. It had been a work night anyway so he was almost ready to turn in. Looking it over, it wasn’t something he had expected to see from his cousin.
“Yes, at least a bit, why? Have you had a bad reaction to something and need to find out what else has the same composition?”
Already working on putting the pieces on the board away, he watched his phone for when the response came in. Hopefully, it wasn’t an emergency and something he could at least wait until after work in the morning to handle. It was a bit vexing, to say the least, but it was hard to say no to his cousin, or his family in general. He’d made it a habit to keep his phone ringer on a bit later in the night than normal for that reason, in addition to the emergency line for his office ringing through no matter what time it was in the night.

”No, I need to recreate something but change the ingredients with plants. Something natural with less side effects.” Sending a message back he smiled, at least Lorcan knew something on the topic. He wished he knew more, of course it would help himself, but he needed help with this. He knew enough on his end of things but the medical end was where he lacked. He knew what plants could do to a person but to figure how well they’d replace something else. Not to mention in what portions they’d be needed and how to make it work. Yeah, he’d need some help..a partner in this plan.
”It’s a nighttime job project…I got an extra assignment. You know I can figure the plant part out but it’s the other part. Figuring what will work best for the desired result.” The second message was sent as he tipped his head back and yawned. He should head home and sleep soon…and let Lorcan sleep, he was sure he had work in the morning. They could talk more after work…if the other would agree to it.

Everything was put away by the time the next message came along. It wasn’t what he’d expected exactly but it also seemed like something up his cousin’s alley. It dabbled into that section of things he really didn’t quite like, where dosages and effectiveness varied more on the material than on the patient. The more variables there were to account for, the less stability there would be and he really disliked that when it came to medications. It was a puzzle though, something that he could look into and maybe attend a few conferences or seminars about.
Grabbing his phone as he wandered up to his room, he thought about things as another text came in. A compromise at least, for him to work with the side of things that he could get behind. At least it was something that wouldn’t interrupt his work, maybe his quota but he could shuffle a few things around on the weekends. It was easier to do since he had things planned out as far in advance as he could, sometimes already having things on the calendar for the next year. He was sure he could find a few books either in his collection or in a colleague's collection which would help as well. It was something he could start working around with without too many issues. To be honest, something related to what they were asking about might be in one of the various medical journals that lined the shelves in his office.
“I can look into things but it will take some time, we can talk more about it another night. I will gather some information and get back to you tomorrow.”
Silencing his phone, he plugged it in and pressed the button on top of his alarm to make sure it was on. It would go off the same as it did every Monday through Friday for the past year, at five in the morning. That done, it didn’t take much longer for him to fall asleep.

Looking over the message sent Alexandre smiled, promising himself that he would bring things to the next chess match they had, he had enough books which could help them both on this task. It would, in his opinion, be best he share the books with his cousin as Lorcan would need them as much as he would…perhaps more. Looking around the small glass enclosed room he got up and went to grab the books he knew, off the top of his head, that would be needed.
With them in his arms he decided to head himself home so he could get some much needed sleep. He had things to do in the morning, like take a run, and he needed his sleep in order to manage his day successfully.
