Quote:
Prompt 2 (Holiday Blues): One day, in the very early morning hours, a strange, bluish fog rolls in. It floats low to the ground and is incredibly dense and incredibly cold. Anyone who inhales even a single breath from this fog will be met with a sudden, harsh sensation of sadness. It’s the worst part of the holidays—the Holiday Blues. The fog slowly spreads through the town and is gone by mid afternoon, but the sensation of sadness, loneliness, and nostalgia may linger for longer than that. Scientists are explaining the bluish tint as just being a natural phenomenon, but in Destiny City, ‘natural’ isn’t really something anyone should expect. Today would have been a good day to stay inside.

There was something…strange about today. Sapphirine had powered up, hoping that it would take away the overwhelming feeling of…well.

Cold sadness, honestly. It was stupid, and maybe it was because the holidays were over and it was the awkward time between one and the other but…

She felt…yucky. Kalina wasn’t one to feel yucky. She had everything. Money. Influence. The most comfortable home that a person could ask for, but…something about today…just made her wilt.

Ugh. She had forgotten how long her hair was as Sapphirine, and normally…the vanity of it made her gleeful but today…it was too much. There was too much and the Corrupted Senshi of Orcas sank down onto a bench and covered her face with her hands, struggling to hold back sudden and stupid tears. There was nothing…wrong...there was nothing that could be wrong but…

Well. The aura of the Senshi that had popped up was something wrong...but it wasn’t anything to cry over…just an annoyance. Hopefully though…they would be too miserable to cause trouble.

Vilenius didn’t need any magical fog to be in a bad mood. All negative emotions were received in the same way–with anger and rejection, mostly. Vilenius didn’t just get sad. He got that itchy, scratchy, frustrating sensation that clawed over his skin.

It set his veins alight, it made him feel like there were barbs in his blood.

He was already agitated well before he felt the sensation of a Chaos signature.

Sour and frustrated, Vilenius stomped his way over to her.

Oh! He recognized those colors. And her farce of a sphere. Liar. Thief.

She probably deserved to cry.

He didn’t know why he did it, but tempted by the mountains of shoveled snow along the path he was walking compelled him to kick one. It didn’t go incredibly far, but he kicked it with enough force that some of it landed on her shoe.

“Why are you crying?” he demanded. He wondered if he threw a snowball at her if it would wipe the tears from her face. He hated Chaos, he didn’t even care if she felt bad. He sort of wanted a fight.

…He sort of just felt so worn down that he hoped she got mad and left, instead.

The snow hit Sapphirine out of nowhere, and though she should have expected something from the a*****e who was coming near…kicking snow at her just seemed. Extra cold.

No pun intended.

Her head shot up and she glared daggers at…

“Oh. It’s you.” The one who told her that she wasn’t who she said she was. The one who claimed that she was a liar.

For some reason, the very thought made tears spring to her eyes again and she swiped them away in anger. Absolutely not. This jerk was not going to make this…melancholy mood worse. She wouldn’t allow it. “I’m not ******** crying. Why are you throwing snow at people? Are you really such an a*****e? I mean, you don’t have to answer that. I know the answer already. This is just a new low for you.” Getting to her feet, Sapphirine watched the Senshi warily. Maybe she should just do what she did last time. Attack and run…but.

“What do you want?”

“You think that was low?” he huffed indignantly. “Children do it for fun, do you hate them too?”

Probably. “You were crying,” he insisted, because her eyes still looked wet despite her protests. “If you did not want to be seen, you should have gone somewhere else.”

He waved his hand dismissively, like he expected her to run off. He kept his hands at his side in case she decided to do something foolish, like attack him. He could show her low.

He didn’t care. What was the point of having morals when dealing with Chaos? They didn’t play by the rules, why should he?

“Why are you out, what do you want?”

“Most children with any decency either tell those they’re about to do it to or are in a game where it’s known that they’re going to throw snow.” Bending down, Sapphirine drew herself some snow and packed it into a ball, lobbing it towards the Senshi. “Like this, so you know how the game works for future reference.”

There was anger in her tone and she honestly…didn’t care. “I was out for fresh air. And something just didn’t agree with me. I don’t know what. It’s not. Whatever. You don’t need to know my business anyway. Why do you care if I was crying?”

Stay angry. If she could just stay angry, then this would…go…smoothly.

Or something.

Vilenius huffed again when he was splattered with snow. He kicked the pile next to him again, sending another spray at her.

“I don’t care, I don’t like you. I wanted to know if you were crying for a stupid reason. Maybe I can give you something better to cry about.” He was in a foul mood anyway, but Vilenius was petty and vindictive; he didn’t have any guilt when it came to taking it out on a chaos-infused imposter.

“So tell me why you’re crying. Or I’ll kick more snow at you. I like my game more. You can throw the snow. But your hands don’t get cold when you do it like this.”

Which was true, of course. But he didn’t need to bring attention to the fact that his hand was injured from when one of those lizards bit it.

“Nobody cries for no reason,” he said sharply, but it didn’t sound like he was trying to convince her. He said it firmly, like if it wasn’t a fact it needed to be one. He held his head higher, like he was an authority on the matter. “Maybe you’ve just got so much Chaos in your heart that it’s poisoning your emotions.”

Bending down, Sapphirine gathered up another snowball and threw it at Vilenius. “It might make my hands cold but I can figure out where it’s going easier than you with how you’re kicking it.” So now he thought it was okay to just threaten her? ******** that. It would be better if she could just attack him and leave. He deserved it. He deserved a lot of things. Maybe she could just grab him and take him to get corrupted. If he thought Chaos was that bad, he could just see that it really wasn’t.

“It’s just the day I guess! It’s a good ******** day to just be sad.”

Or something. She didn’t know. “Stop asking me or I’ll give you something to cry about and I promise you won’t like it.”

Vilenius hissed like it was a standard response. “You aren’t supposed to be happy about crying. Or has your Chaos got you so backwards.” He was still wiping off the snow from the last snowball when the second one hit him. His snowpile was diminished from all of his kicking, so he had to stalk across to another one to kick more at her.

He didn’t care if it hit her more or less, it was annoying. Kicking it made him feel better regardless of if it made contact with her or not.

“No day is a good day to be sad. If you’re upset, you should go home and go to sleep.”

She definitely wasn’t the Senshi of Orcas that he knew. Could Senshi steal spheres? Is that what she’d done? His lip twitched, and for all his determination to keep his thoughts to himself, he still slipped. “How did you get your sphere, where did it come from?”

“Look! You…idiot. Sometimes emotions just happen, okay? Sometimes there’s no reason for it even if it’s stupid. And my sphere? This is just who I am! I’m Sapphirine. The Senshi of Orcas. That’s who I’ve been since I joined in this whole thing, and that’s who I’ll be until I’m dead!”

Dramatic, yes…but he pushed her buttons and she couldn’t quite help it.

“I don’t know what about that you don’t understand. Didn’t my magic the last time clue you in? Or do you need another show of it for proof? Do you ask everyone you meet how they got their spheres? How did you get your sphere? Let’s see you answer.”

Sapphirine hadn’t been going to throw another snowball…

But he just made her mad…so she did anyway.

This time, Vilenius was ready for her snowball, and even though it exploded and sprayed snow everywhere, he was still satisfied that he’d hit it out of the air at all. Despite the melancholy carried by the fog, he was pleased with himself.

“I was born with it!” he answered, condescending and judgemental. He might as well have said ‘Duh’ for all the teenage venom he exuded.

“But I’ve met the Senshi of Orcas, so I know you’re wrong. Lilium, Senshi of Orcas. That’s how I know you’re a fraud. Not even a real senshi. Draped in Chaos, you’re just a copycat, a pale imitation. Your magic isn’t even very good. Use it all you want, it doesn’t change anything.”

He seemed haughty, smug, but there was something undeniably bitter, undeniably hateful in his voice.

“It’s a cursed sphere, anyway. I don’t know why they’d try to give you those powers. Are you a snake, too? Disloyal, conniving, weak? I could put you out of your misery. You don’t have to be ‘the Senshi of Orcas’ for much longer. No more tears, I could make it quick.”

“Then I suppose that I was born with it too, or else I would have been made an officer.” And had better things. A weapon, for instance. Ugh. Whatever.

“I’m the real Senshi of Orcas, and there’s nothing that you can do about it. I don’t know who Lilium is, and just…throwing the name at me isn’t going to help. How the Hell is it a cursed sphere? What do you mean by that?”

At least, maybe she could try to understand his reasoning…but…wow.

Then he had to go and ruin it once again. “So, now you’re threatening to kill me? What good would that do? It wouldn’t bring Lilium back, at least I don’t think so.”

Truthfully, Vilenius didn’t know how Chaos worked. He knew it was a falsehood, an evil. He knew it was unnatural. So why couldn’t they just bend the rules as they were? There was an anger burning in him that even the winter chill couldn’t put out.

There were a great many things in his life that he didn’t think about, and while he had brushed on the surface of this conversation, every question, every comment, dug a little deeper.

He was uncomfortable. He was mad.

“I don’t want Lilium back,” he spat, venomous and bitter. “Chaos is a sickness, how are you so blind? It will eat you up, devour you. That’s how it ends. If someone doesn’t kill you before then, it’ll still get you in the end. How can you even be the ‘real Senshi of Orcas’? A Senshi’s magic comes from their world. Have you ever been? Have you ever felt that power flow through you, at your core? Have you felt your starseed vibrate with that energy? Or have you been satisfied with whatever crumbs the Negaverse has given you?”

“If you don’t want Lilium back, then why do you keep comparing me to them and saying that they’re real when I’m not? You do realize that you sound like you’re absolutely missing them and since you think they’re a better Senshi of Orcas, just go find them.”

Sapphirine ran a hand through her hair to the point that her fingers got tangled in the long…stupidly long tresses.

“I have never been to any world. I just know who I am, what I am and use the powers that I’ve been given. I know nothing else.”

Nor did she really want to, in all honesty.

Vilenius snarled once more, and when he kicked snow at her it wasn’t for fun. The fog had done nothing to improve his mood and he’d been sour for a while.

“You’re stupid,” he seethed. “Ignorant. Foolish. If I say I hate someone, I hate them. Just because I knew the true Senshi of Orcas doesn’t mean I miss them, it means I know you are not them. You have no respect for your power. You do not care about where it comes from? So you desecrate, you defile.”

And the Negaverse was fine with this? That’s what they wanted?

“You do not know who you are. You do not know what you are. You do not know what those powers mean or how to use them. You are a greedy child and a thoughtless puppet. You waste whatever you could have been.”

He was done with snow.

If she thought it was a good day to be sad he would show her sad.

Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Shower
Vilenius summons his attack and every enemy nearby will feel as though a cold rainshower has begun to fall. As the illusionary water begins to seep into their clothes, they will feel a dreary melancholy overcome them. The water clings to them, making them feel heavy and alone; though the rain is light, for the duration of the magic the air will feel cold and everyone within radius will hear the soft sound of falling rain. The magic does not cause physical damage but can be disorienting and emotionally draining. The magic lasts for thirty seconds and has three uses. It affects all enemies within a ten foot radius of Vilenius and the magic will follow him if he moves, but the effects end if the character moves out of radius. Players can choose to remain drenched or the water can magically disappear.

Sapphirine was about ready to just give up. She could teleport. She didn’t need to stand here and just…take this. But that was what she was doing, and she finally opened her mouth to speak, to refute being called a puppet. That was untrue and just. wrong. She was who she was. There was no other option.

But then the magic hit her and suddenly she was freezing. Moreso than she had been before. Her arms swiftly moved to cross over her chest and she gasped for air. It was cold. She was wet...and she was just.

Alone.

“I don’t. Understand.” She managed to gasp out, her eyes filling with tears again. “How can I be anything other than I am. I had no choice. I made not choices in this!”

Just leave. She only had to leave.

…But she didn’t. Not yet.
