Kioshi was certain he'd celebrated Christmas in the past, most people did anyway, but since losing his memories he hadn't really celebrated it. He'd had no reason, no one but himself, he'd gone along with a secret santa at work and that had been about it. He'd sat alone in his apartment and did his best to treat the day like any other day, aside from the fact he wasn't working, and that had suited him rather well.
Was it a bit lonely?
Yes, a bit.
Did he let it bother him?
Not really.
This year he had Omen, who he'd done some shopping for at PetCo, and online on the Chewy site so he could pamper the kitten just a bit more than usual. He'd even decided to attempt to grow a plant and had a catnip plant sitting on top of his fridge as a gift for the cat. He hadn't let Omen see it yet but he was certain the cat had smelled it, he kept hanging around the fridge that first day.
But not he had to figure out a gift for Kai and that was not going to be easy, people were a lot harder to figure out than a cat, and he was fairly certain that asking Kai for a list of options to pick from would be seen as cheaping out. Something he normally wouldn't care about but he did want to try at least, he was aiming for normal here, he just found certain things hard and this was one of them.
Decorating was also not going to be easy, this wasn't Halloween, and he didn't have any sort of decorations. He'd done his best to ignore the holiday in the past and now it sort of felt like he shouldn't totally write it off and ignore it, it might not look good if he did, and he did want to try for normal here. That in mind he sent a text to Kai asking if the other wanted to assist him in this endevor since he wasn't entierly sure what he wanted for this decorating adventure he was undertaking. At least he hoped Kai would understand the posistion he was in...that he was a bit lost in some parts of the whole civilian thing, memories lost and all that, and that because he really had been rather on his own in the world he'd not partaken in the holiday cheer and thus was starting from scratch.

The response was a easy one. A quick text to meet up and they could talk about it. Now that Kai had moved into his own place, he'd already been in the works of furnishing and decorating his own place. Having plenty of memories of the holidays, he was set to offer some help.
It didn't take long for Kai to knock on Kioshi's door, bundled up in a beanie and a black coat. It was colder out already and snowing on and off for a wile now. Any convenience store and supermarket always had some variation of the classic Christmas songs.
When Kioshi opened the door, Kai offered his a mittened wave. "You ready to do this or wanna set up a game plan first?" He asked, okay with going out to the shops and just picking out things or figuring out what step Kioshi wanted to tackle first.

"I'm ok with winging it, I have you to help anyway." And that would hopefully make up for the fact he couldn't remember the holidays of the past. He knew what the holidays were like for other people, it was plastered all over the place and people constantly talked about it, but he needed to define it somehow for himself. There needed to be something there rather than the nothing of the last one.
"I just have in mind what's all over tv and everytrhing I hear people talking about. I suppose a tree would be a good idea, maybe soemthing fake so I don't need to worry about Kai drinking water from it...and I don't need to worry about watering it." Because he was honestly likely to forget about watering a tree, and he'd heard they could get brittle and catch fire. It was a wonder more d people didn't set christmas trees on fire, by accident, every year because they forgot t owater the damn things. "I have nothing for the holiday, I ignored it since corrupting." And now he was trying to fix that and aiming for some sort of normality, or at least as close to it as he wanted to get.
"I figured you might have some clue and could help, even if it's just giving an opinion on things." Which he also wouldn't mind getting anyway, because he did care about what the other thought of things
"If you want to lead the way?" He asked, or maybe offered, as he stood there bundled up so he could brave the winter wonderland that was the outside world. His keys in hand he reached for one of the others mitten covered hands. "I'll lock up and we can go. You want to drive?"

"Fake is good. Trying to throw out a whole tree each year is a pain in this city. I got a fake one." He said as he pointed behind his shoulder as if his apartment laid right behind him.
"TV is pretty much the ideal. Everyone wants that kinda Christmas. If you wanna go festive, followin movies is a good way to go about it. Go for that magical feel of when.....oh. Right. Uh, guess you wouldn't have that kid feel then. Um - well No worries. We can just get that back." He said, clapping his mittened hands together.
He wondered if there was any sense of loss of loosing the memories of your childhood. How it must have been as a kid? Then again, for kids like them, maybe the holidays had bad memories too. Maybe a lot more than good.
"Well, decorations are a good place to start. We can hit up the stores." He said as he walked with Kioshi out of his place and to the lobby.
"Yeah, uh, I can drive, but I don't have a car of my own. Not sure you trust me with your stuff. I usually just take the subway or bus." He said, not having enough for a old clunker himself yet. He usually borrowed Diesel's car if he really needed it. The price was just gas in the tank.

"I can see a lot of problems with a real tree, though I wouldn't mind the pine smell in the apartment." He was certain if he really was desperate for that scent, which he wasn't, he'd just buy a candle or something. He didn't mind the idea of a pine scent but it wasn't a need for him. It just seemed fitting for this time of year.
"That is what I think I want to aim for. You know you don't need to watch what you say, right? I made my choice knowing what I'd be giving up. I'm fine with it." He hadn't gone into things without knowing, he hadn't been forced either, he knew he'd lose his memories and not remember what Christmas was like or the feelings that came with it. It didn't bother him really. Sometimes thigns felt a bit disjointed, or like a sudden offness but nothing more really. It could be jarring at times for him but he was working on it and learning things again and experiecing things again, or potentially for the first time, it didn't bother him though.
"Considering I've trusted you to ink my skin, and other people do, I'm fairly certain I can trust you with my car." Offering the other his keys. "I just don't know where to go in the city for these things." And it would be easier if someone who knew did the driving, rather tham him driving and taking directions at the same time. He was more likely to get lost, or make some mistake, and he'd prefer not to get them both lost somehow.
Walking at the others side he reached for one of the others hands with his own, while his free hand stuffed itself into the pocket of his coat. "I think my boss was considering some Christmas special, like the friday the thirteenth insanity, but he changed his mind. I'm glad." The migrane he'd felt coming on, and had taken medication for, had not been good but he'd figured it was going to come. He'd been ready for it.

"You can get little sprigs of pine. Not a lot but they have a string of it for decoration just for the smell. Don't need the whole tree for that." He said as he they headed outside.
"I just use air freshener." He said, not classy enough for anything much.
He took the keys in his hands and then walked with Kioshi to his car.. The hand in his was slender and warm, and he gave it a little squeeze as he smiled, feeling a bit goofy in his features as he headed to the car and opened the door to let Kioshi in as he went to the driver's side.
Once inside, he adjusted the seat, adjusted the mirrors, and then turned the car and heat. "You been to the Christmas market?" He asked, pulling out of the parking lot and onto the street, headed off to the brisk, slushy streets of Destiny.

"I think that'll work then, so long as it works for the Christmas feel and the look, I don't want to spend too much on it." One day he would, one day he'd have enough money for a home of some sort and it would be his. He'd have the money foir a good Halloween and Christmas and he would be able to be comfortable and if he and Kai were still together he'd move the other in...he was certain he didn't mind the idea of living with someone...at least not when the person was Kai.
"The Christmas market? No, I heard it mentioned, people talking about it when I was grocery shopping, but not I've not been over there. We can go though, I wouldn't mind." Actually the idea sounded appealing to him. "You saw that we're getting paid now for the night job we have?" He questioned softly, he kept up with Negaverse things as best as he could, it was something which did degfine his life because it was what in a sense gave birth to him. He wouldn't be here, Kioshi wouldn't exsist, if not for the Negaverse and being pulled onto their side of the war.
He'd still be who had had once been. So he kept up with things and now that he was getting paid for his nightwork he was even more pleased with things. He could save up and hopefully, in time, have enough money to put down a downpayment for a home and perhaps get a mortgage, though he wasn't sure how he'd count in the pay he made from the Negaverse. He would work on figuring that out though, perhaps talk to someone within the organization who might have a clue how to go about that.
"I was thinking of making something for dinner, for us both? For Christmas, if you think you'd like that."

"You could make your own ornaments." He suggested. "Cheap and personal and all that. We used to do it as kids." He said as he took another turn down the road.
"At school, we used to make clay you got t o dry. And then you had like - plastic you could color on and shrink in the fridge. For a art kid like me, it was fun."
"So....what are you gonna do for Christmas anyways?" He asked, looking over at him. if he was wanting to get in the spirit, what would he be doing for that day?

"I've never thought of making ornaments..." He was a creative person, he had to be considering his job, but he wasn't the arts and crafts sort of person...at least as far as heknew. Everything with him seemed to be like that - an as far as he knew thing. he was still discovering himself, in some cases rediscovering himself even. Kioshi knew some things would differ between himsenf and Hisoka as far as likes and dislikes and hobies and things but he didn't know what those things would be. Maybe he once had been an arts and crafts sort of person?
"That sounds interesting, and at least the school had you getting into those sorts of things." Because as far as he knew Kai didn't have the best home life growing up, and he couldn't imagine Christmas was Hallmark channel holiday. "I don't know, I was thinking of a normal day at home, no work, and maybe make some sort of dinner. Some sort of dinner that would be considered normal for Christmas." He would try and add some of the holiday spirit into his life, especially on that day.
"What about you? Just a day at home or would you want to join me for dinner?"
