Lena was going to sleep over. That was the cover story, at least…what Tilly was really planning was for them to go up to Mechelen and spend some time when the would both not be missed. Of course, Lena really would be sleeping over too…just…they were going to spend a good portion of the night up in space...which was just…
Totally awesome.
Gene would be home later, but she didn’t much care what Tilly did so long as she wasn’t out getting into trouble, and Tilly’s father was on another one of his work trips, so he wouldn’t be any kind of a bother.
When the knock at the door came, Tilly opened it with a grin, moving to hug Lena without even thinking about it. “You’re here! I’m so excited! I have so many plans…most of them involve snacks but…I’m so excited to show you around the place!”
Nobody else was around but…
You could never be too careful.

They were going to have a sleepover. On Lysithea. Lena still couldn't wrap her head around it. Ever since she'd been a kid, she'd looked in the back of every closet she could find for a secret passage to Narnia. She'd checked her mailbox for letters inviting her to wizard school. She'd checked every nook and cranny she could find for any hint that there might be magic just past her fingertips, and now she'd found it. She had magic. She had another world. She was finding that there was another part of this that was just as important, though. She had a friend! A lot of Lena's old friends had hit their boys and makeup phases, and then there had been drama on top of it, and basically Lena just hadn't been to a sleepover in a while, but now she was here! Everything was so wonderful again! "I'm here!" she said, stepping in the door. "I brought snacks, too! I made cookies. Oh, and I have blankets, so we can make a castle!" She didn't know what Mechelen was, but she thought most places could be improved with a blanket castle. "This is going to be so awesome!"

Tilly grinned and nodded eagerly. “Perfect! Snacks are absolutely important, I was thinking of bringing some bread and peanut butter and jelly? You’re not allergic to peanuts or anything, are you? Like, thinking about it now I should have asked but I didn’t even think about it, if you’re allergic to anything just let me know and I’ll revisit my ideas!”
She didn’t want to be responsible for the death of her friend…that…
That would be a literal nightmare.
But no, nobody was going to die tonight, in fact, they were going to have an amazing time. “Blankets are fantastic! I hope you’re okay with doing a little cleaning? I got a swiffer and some pads…like, the main room in the castle place is a big ballroom and I figure that’s where we’ll stay but…it needs cleaning. Badly…but eventually I wanna have parties there! It seems like a great place for a party.”

"No, no, I don't have allergies! I would have said," she said, not wanting Tilly to keep her away from snacks over fear about something that didn't exist. It was so sweet that she was being careful, though, but peanut butter and jelly seemed like perfect sleepover food. "And I can clean," she said, grinning, and then giggled. "I mean, when I do my chores at home, I always pretend I'm Cinderella, or make up some other story, to make it more exciting." It wasn't something she talked about that much, but she knew Tilly would understand. "It'll be easy, in a ballroom!" Almost exiting, to see what they could find under the dust. "Okay, um," she glanced around, and listened, just in case there were any family members around in the house. She kept her voice low, just in case. "Is there anything else we have to do, or can we do this?" She'd already been waiting all day!

“Perfect!” Tilly grinned and nodded. “Wait right here and then we can go!”
She turned and ran to where her backpack was laying on the couch, and then picked up the bag with the Swiffer pads and the box with the new mop and cleaning liquid and then she was back at the door. “Lets head out! Lead the way, I figure going to the park that’s at the end of the block would be best? That’s where I normally power up anyway so…” She shrugged and nodded towards it, turning to lock the door behind her before leaving.
“Have you gotten to go up there at all yet?”

Lena waited very patiently. While she did, she looked around for a coat closet, since she'd been thinking about that on the way over. Maybe she should start checking again for Narnia. Just because all this knight stuff existed didn't mean other things couldn't. If anything, if one kind of magic was real, maybe others were, too? Before she could start looking for other dimensions behind closet doors, Tilly came back, and they walked out to the street. "Yeah, I went up with Halle the other day," she said. "Which was also awesome, but he didn't have any ballrooms. At least, I didn't see any." Maybe he was hiding one somewhere.

Tilly paused at the name and blinked, confused. “You went with who? Halle like…Lysithea Page Halle? Funny hat with the feather Halle?”
If she knew Halle, that…
Oh no. “He’s my sparring partner that I was telling you about, the one that I want to get stronger then! How do you know him?” She figured that her circle was small…but she would have never thought that this connection would have been there too…
“What a crazy…are you really serious right now?”

Wait. Halle was the sparring partner? Lena blinked a couple times, surprised at first, but then nodded. That made a lot of sense, actually. He was all about training. "I mean, he's a squire now, but yeah. He's my cousin! Ask him, next time you see him." She slowed down her walking a little bit, ready to see if she could really blow Tilly's mind. "He has an identical twin who's also a Lysithea squire. The same hat and everything. It's just pink."

Tilly’s mind was absolutely blown and she shook her head, astonished and gave a slight laugh. “They’re your cousins who we’re going to get stronger than…you know what? That’s crazy and insane and amazing. And honestly…you said he’s a Squire now? Damn! I have to get stronger than him again! I should write to him to meet up…”
She grinned at Lena and stopped walking when they finally reached the park and taking a moment to make sure they were sheltered in some trees, powered up and held her hand out. “Ready when you are! This’ll be a great time, I just know it.”
Even if she had to book it on the whole getting stronger thing…Halle absolutely could not win!

"You are going to get stronger than him again," said Lena, full of nothing but faith for her best friend. "And then I'm going to get as strong as you." They could do it! They could do anything, even ice skating! Lena had mostly figured that one out after a good half hour of tumbles. She powered up as soon as they were somewhere nobody could see them, and she grinned just to see both of them in their magical princess outfits again. This was already so fun! "Okay," she said, and slipped her hand into Mechelen's. "Ready!"
