The Aftermath

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

After the Aishan trees had suddenly and furiously bloomed, pollen had started to fall from the sky in never before seen quantities. The sun seemed choked by its presence and the breeze currents seemed to carry it across all of Tendaji.

Curiously enough, the impact of the pollen could be seen in earthlings...

Random earthlings across Tendaji saw cracks and fissures in their skin, shedding as if they had a sunburn. New skin tones shone through from underneath. Almost as if by magic new eye colors and crystal colors emerged with a night's rest. Earthlings changed overnight without regard to their family lineage. Brothers and sisters now sported new colors; mothers and daughters that once looked like spitting images captured the eyes of many with their sudden differences.

What could be made of these changes? The world was in upset, some overjoyed and thrilled at the new colors, others in despair as their self views shifted beneath their feet.

[ Earthlings (and those with earthling blood) have started to suddenly change colors! What does your character make of the changes? Did they change too, or do they just witness the new looks of someone close? Are they fascinated in this sudden new change, or are they in the throws of woe? Let us know how your character handles the change in the world! ]

Color Change Instructions

|| Either at the very beginning of the WE or at the very end, the owner(s) should create a post dedicated to the new colors chosen if they choose to update their palette.
|| Owners do not have to change all of the character's colors, they can opt to change just one, a few, or all.
|| Owners should specifically post which new swatch they would like (no CC, this event is for owners who specifically want new colors for their characters).
|| Characters can only choose new swatches in the race that is already established. (A hybrid with fire skin can ONLY choose fire skin, just a new shade. A hybrid with leaf crystals can ONLY choose leaf crystals, etc.)
|| Aishan hybrids that have earthling colored skin can choose to update their skin tone and the staff will decide whether their fade needs to be updated as well (if applicable). We will pick the fade color best suited to the character, owners only have to pick the base skin tone.
|| ONLY earthling colors can be updated. Aishan and Kahikinan colors are not affected by this event.
|| All updates will be made during the next growth of the character!
|| Characters can update their swatches individually of their families (colors chosen will not affect any other character in the shop).
|| Any breeding moving forward will use these new colors (consider these new swatches new genetics).
|| If you have any questions feel free to reach out to the mule, Ely, or Kana and we can help with anything individual that hasn't been addressed here!

[Ilistoh will now have █████ crystals and █████ hair.]

The pollen had mostly settled by the time Ilistoh made it back to Belrea, the change in his crystal coloration the only immediately noticeable difference in his physical appearance. His hair had been altered as well—he had watched its color brighten ever so slightly over the course of an afternoon—but to anyone who had known him before, the change probably wouldn't register at all. He was quite happy with the subtle tweaks Azehra and Esena had wrought. Some people he met hadn't ended up with such pleasant modifications.

Ilistoh had returned here because he could only imagine the stir this event would cause in the science capital of Tendaji. He wanted to see the hubbub for himself, but there was a distinct lack of it on the streets. Everything was far too normal.

It didn't take long for him to make his way back to the park Nemia had shown him. He always had time to spin tales, even if none of them would involve harried researchers rapidly changing colors as they ran screaming across the grass.

[No changes]

Nemia was furiously taking notes on the happenings involving the two younger trees and their color altering pollen. It was fascinating to say the least, something she could not quite understand which made her want to study the phenomena even more. The park was the perfect spot to take notes at, the influx of visitors rambling about their changes allowing her to notate a steady timeline of events. She wondered if anyone had worked to make color changing potions before...honed in on the pollen to make this something exciting. Perhaps that was not a wise thing to do. So engrossed in her notes, she narrowly dodged around several groups of people before ultimately bumping into a tree. Her notes scattered, loose-leaf scribbles dispersing to the wind.

"No, no come back!"
she called after the pages, rushing around in an attempt to gather them up.

Out of the corner of his eye, Ilistoh caught sight of a single fluttering page, another joining it when he hurried to grab the first. He followed the direction of the breeze, smiling broadly when he saw a familiar figure.

"Hey!" He rescued a few more pages as he joined her, careful to keep from reading any of them. "Lost a fight with the wind? What're all these notes about?"

Nemia did not expect assistance at this time of day, especially considering the assistance it happened to be. She tried to keep a very serious researcher expression, gathering up her escapee pages and quickly tying them up. Looking over at Ilistoh she gasped and pulled another page out, scribbling furiously in the page before she responded.

"You! You have also changed!!"
she exclaimed, wanting to poke at him but resisting her researcher's urge. "I'm taking notes on the strange happenings, the pollen and such. And everyone changing!"

"I did!" he replied, a little surprised that she had noticed. "It's all quite mysterious, isn't it? I haven't heard any stories of Aisha having done this in the past, but it would have been so long ago. Who knows who ended up changing colors back then?"

Ilistoh truly looked at her, noting that she hadn't changed at all. That explained the heightened curiosity, at least. "Well, if you want to ask anything about what happened to me, fire away."

Nemia smiled like that of a mad scientist, eagerly pulling her notes together as she corned Ilistoh and forced him onto a bench. She went around lifting his arms and tugging on his hair, ignoring all sorts of personal space as she developed her questions to ask him in particular.

"How are you feeling? Any itchiness? I've heard some cases of shock, but mainly from the appearance change and not any actual harm. Do you feel feverish at all?" At the last comment she pressed her hand to his forehead. "Mmm. Nope don't think so. What about stomach issues? Any new developed food allergies?"

Ilistoh grinned, a small huff of air escaping him as he landed on the bench. He closed his eyes, afraid she might poke at them in her excitement, but after a moment he opened them again. They hadn't changed, but maybe she'd want to examine them anyway. Like a... what was it? Control group? Yeah, that was it.

"No fever. No allergies that I know of? I'll let you know if I find any." That made him kind of worried. What if he went to eat something he had loved before and his throat closed up? "Is that a common thing people report? But no, really, the crystals were very itchy, but it didn't last long."

Nemia shook her head, flipping open a small notepad and writing down what Ilistoh said. She hadn't heard reports of any allergies coming from the change, but there was always room for something like it to happen! She brushed her thumb over some of the crystals on Ilistoh's face, humming to herself as she inspected them for any abnormalities.

"You look fine. Other than your color change. Any anxiety? Fear of the transformation? Have you looked in a mirror?"

If she had suddenly changed colors she knew she would be very distraught!

"A little. I mean, the anxiety is over now, or it was until I started thinking about heaving up my lunch or breaking out in hives." He sat as still as possible, trying not to breathe as she looked him over, but it wasn't long before he slouched again and focused on watching Nemia instead.

"It was kind of just my crystals, so once I saw what some other people were dealing with, I couldn't feel too sorry for myself. I know a leaf guy who turned green."

"Green? How intriguing! I think you would look horrid if you were green. But the new colors of your crystals are acceptable," Nemia nodded, scribbling more notes. She held up a crumbled piece of paper, humming as she compared her previous writing before nodding more in approval.

"This change I believe is beneficial at least. Though it seems like a plague of some sort, I do not think it is harmful. Whatever it may be, it will surely pass. I am curious how it picks its targets though. Did you insult anyone lately? Bring the tree wrath upon you?"

Surely the selection process had something more to it than one being more susceptible than another.

"Thanks," Ilistoh replied, even though he didn't think she aimed to compliment him. Acceptable? Yes, he was.

When she asked if he'd insulted anyone, Ilistoh had to take a moment. Maybe he had? An airship captain or a food vendor or a particularly intelligent duruf? He was still seriously questioning his behavior over the last few weeks when she mentioned tree wrath. Ilistoh exhaled through his mouth, puffing out his cheeks in an effort not to laugh.

"I might have cut in front of someone on a line by accident or given a vendor the wrong change, but I know I didn't anger any trees. Or Aishan. I think."

"I do not think the others I have seen panicking about it have either, so I suppose that rules out angering the Aishans. No fight with them to come or some such," Nemia nodded, quickly crossing it out as an option.

Whatever had happened it sounded like there was no changing it back, and so Nemia would simply have to get used to this new appearance of Ilistoh. She had encountered him more than once at this point, so she ascertained they were at least friendly. He did not seem to mind her particular need for investigation and research. Much more pleasant than most.

"You are too friendly to make someone angry enough for that I think anyway. So what do you think of the new look? Like it?"

He nodded a few times, a series of tiny bounces. "I do! If I'd been asked to pick the changes myself, I don't think I could have chosen what to do, but I don't mind the changes that were made for me. The crystals are pretty nice. They kind of match your hair!"

Ilistoh looked at Nemia's slightly disheveled pile of notes. "So, do you need to do any more research right now, or are you free to catch up? I've got a ton of stories from..." He gestured vaguely toward the west.

Nemia held her hair up to one of Ilistoh's crystals, a little smile forming at the comparison. The fact that he found that to be a positive was pleasing to hear from him, her ego swelling just a little bit. The smallest amount. With her notes gathered and questions asked, Nemia really didn't have much else to accomplish at the moment. Spending time with Ilistoh did seem like a productive way to continue about her day.

"I'm free, and glad to hear of any stories you wish to regale me with. I'm sure they are very interesting if you found the time to remember them,"
Nemia chuckled, preparing to follow Ilistoh wherever he went.
