The Aftermath

After the Aishan trees had suddenly and furiously bloomed, pollen had started to fall from the sky in never before seen quantities. The sun seemed choked by its presence and the breeze currents seemed to carry it across all of Tendaji.

Curiously enough, the impact of the pollen could be seen in earthlings...

Random earthlings across Tendaji saw cracks and fissures in their skin, shedding as if they had a sunburn. New skin tones shone through from underneath. Almost as if by magic new eye colors and crystal colors emerged with a night's rest. Earthlings changed overnight without regard to their family lineage. Brothers and sisters now sported new colors; mothers and daughters that once looked like spitting images captured the eyes of many with their sudden differences.

What could be made of these changes? The world was in upset, some overjoyed and thrilled at the new colors, others in despair as their self views shifted beneath their feet.

[ Earthlings (and those with earthling blood) have started to suddenly change colors! What does your character make of the changes? Did they change too, or do they just witness the new looks of someone close? Are they fascinated in this sudden new change, or are they in the throws of woe? Let us know how your character handles the change in the world! ]

Color Change Instructions

|| Either at the very beginning of the WE or at the very end, the owner(s) should create a post dedicated to the new colors chosen if they choose to update their palette.
|| Owners do not have to change all of the character's colors, they can opt to change just one, a few, or all.
|| Owners should specifically post which new swatch they would like (no CC, this event is for owners who specifically want new colors for their characters).
|| Characters can only choose new swatches in the race that is already established. (A hybrid with fire skin can ONLY choose fire skin, just a new shade. A hybrid with leaf crystals can ONLY choose leaf crystals, etc.)
|| Aishan hybrids that have earthling colored skin can choose to update their skin tone and the staff will decide whether their fade needs to be updated as well (if applicable). We will pick the fade color best suited to the character, owners only have to pick the base skin tone.
|| ONLY earthling colors can be updated. Aishan and Kahikinan colors are not affected by this event.
|| All updates will be made during the next growth of the character!
|| Characters can update their swatches individually of their families (colors chosen will not affect any other character in the shop).
|| Any breeding moving forward will use these new colors (consider these new swatches new genetics).
|| If you have any questions feel free to reach out to the mule, Ely, or Kana and we can help with anything individual that hasn't been addressed here!

The waves were calm as they sailed through the waters of morn, Daspien up early to work on the deck and appreciate the peace of the ocean. He had no regrets from his decision to travel out and join this crew, though it was something to get used to. The freedom, the lack of concern and the slight nefarious way they approach life was a bit different than the militaristic way his old company worked. But overall he quite enjoyed such things.

As he looked out across the waters, he was surprised to see the ruby red sunrise fill the sky. His heart dropped.

Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor take warning.

It wasn't something he was too worried about, unlike many of the younger sailors that were spooked by such stories. But the caution he felt was echoed by the others who glanced out and observed the strange coloring.

"Seems a bit...orange today." One of the sailors commented as he walked up to help with the ropes.

"You're right..." Daspien echoed with contemplation, "And I've never really seen the haze push that much across the horizon..."

It was almost unnatural, and the other sailors agreed in the assessment when the golden hue lingered well past the standard timeline. It was bellowing in from the east, seemingly thick enough both in the direction of Belrea and Kahikina. Almost like it was something in the sky coming from the area. It reminded him of when the Dragon had awoken in the great mountain, causing a bellow of smoke to breeze into the sky.

As he ate lunch, they finally began to drift into the pollen, and many of the sailors ventured down with reddening eyes and sniffles.

"It's a weird dust in the air causing it." The same sailor he spoke to in the morning commented, as he brushed it off his shoulder. Daspien leaned closer to examine it, the dust was fine and like a pollen, and he commented as such.

"You think there's a big bloom happening? I've heard it before...it's a bit early..." Usually the blooms occurred in the late spring early summer, when the trees began to flower. No trees were flowering based on his understanding. But there were the trees, those new ones that came from the Aishans. A few others suspected it too, but none of them could really know. They didn't have an Aishan in crew, and they wouldn't be able to just go and see.

And so, as the days went on the pollen lingered, the crew began to cover their faces and do their best to manage. It was strange, with the winds of the ocean not helping clear it up, but at least it wasn't stormy. Just a constant haze of this sickly sweet pollen.

Daspien was fortunate to not have the sneezing or the runny eyes that some of the others had, though he still covered his mouth and face with his headband. That being said, he noticed after a few days how his skin began to itch, and he often would jump into the water when they dropped anchor to attempt to wash things off. The irritation continued, shifting into was felt like a sunburn. He was so used to the sun that he forgot the feeling of his skin peeling away, or the warning signs, and didn't notice until he was scrubbing off and his skin came back....darker.

Shocked at the sight, Daspien examined his fingers, his arms, and his belly, before asking one of the sailors to look over his back. As they peeled away his skin, it came back the same...a different tone. A different color. Much like some of the others, though not enough to assume the entire crew would face such a change. No, some had different eyes, different crystals, and different hair even. But none had the same thing, meaning something magical was behind this change. And something most likely permanent.

As the pollen finally moved away, it left a changed crew in it's wake, though most had grown accustomed to the coloring of their peers. They joked at those who had massive changes, and accepted those who had minimal if any. And for those with none, they teased as if they missed out on an opportunity, mocking them in jest that they were boring now, unchanged and unfiltered. Though deep down many were left wondering, without any answer to why this happened, or if it would happen again in the future.
