Da Rules: Dun dun dun!!

It wasn't even that late into the year, and Waru hadn't been paying too much attention to anything---He was just casually henshin'd up, Albiting around, enjoying the wind in his dreads as an eternal with no equal! There was a flit of an aura in his periphery that he would've rather ignored, and in trying his best to do so he caught a glimpse of something shiny!

Some familiar type of shiny--

Some oh so very spider filled, rat infested, mud hungry, dangerous as ******** all kind of shiny! The kind he reacted to like a car-struck-deer: frozen in place and then seeking to vanish from where he'd been.

But it was too late already----

"No, no, no, no, noooooooooo0000000-----"

Between one breath and a next, a strangled snarl of an expletive, a scream into the void of air that expanded around no further than the golden glowing lines of a singular square.

"SON OF A----" cursed, chanted, caterwauled, he felt the distinct urge to take the slice of dice in his hand and chuck it as hard as possible into the ether. It only took running into the invisible wall the once to hit that limit, before tossing the held bit of demon-die like it'd break him outta the very prison it imposed upon him.

"Every year now!! Every single year!! I'mma start printing warning posters -- holding dice meetings --- seeing a therapist...." and maybe not that, but he was rambling and as the dice bounced back onto the cold, hard, floor in front of him it was flashing a ******** 6:
You hear a shrill, humming noise; it sounds almost like something is firing past you–and sometimes, you even feel a sharp burst of air, like something has just missed you. Maybe, even, it does get a slice out of you. Sharp, bladelike threads seem to string up around you; you’d best be careful not to get cut on any of them between now and your next dice roll.

At times it was nice to pretend that one could ignore the war going on every night in Destiny City. Illyria had been reflecting on the year past before padding silently down a side road. There were auras of every sort out during this particular evening and by design Illyria found herself avoiding a good chunk of them. One, an aura that spoke of chaos was nearly on top of her when it suddenly blipped off of her internal radar. Breathing a little easier at the thought that maybe the owner of said aura had decided to call it a night meant that Illyria wouldn't have to figure out a way to stay hidden out of sight.

As she turned a corner on the street that she was on, the feline caught a glint of something that lay innocuously in the middle of the road before feeling her muscles locking up in abject refusal to take a step closer. That ... that ... oh no. She wasn't going to take another step nearer to it. Her keen eyesight picked up on the familiar details and Illyria was preparing herself to dart away in some opposite direction when a sudden strong gust of wind knocked her off her feet and she felt darkness encroach on her vision. When she woke, the familiar die was at her paws and she scowled at it, "I DIDN'T even TOUCH you. How am I here again?"

Somewhere very close by though ... was that same familiar chaos aura and the Mauvian flinched before accidentally kicking out at the die, sending it hurtling off into the distance.

"Great, just great. When I get outta here there is no way I'm going back outside until this month is over."

Entering Space 6 -

The rage he felt as the die slipped across gold sigil engraved floor and skittered through rough numbers was not the quiet under the skin sort of rage. It was loud, childish, involved all sorts of gnashing of teeth and bewailing his existence in this space even as his gaze whipped after the little spark of dice to see where it'd landed.

He remembered somewhat of somethings from last time around, knew he'd need to keep his hands on that stupid thing if he meant to get anywhere. Which probably made throwing it a bad ideaaaa....

The kind that left him running once he realized the path had opened up and the dice had danced all the way down to the very end of it, only just as he was about to snatch it up again he swore for all he was worth that there was a sound coming from somewhere! Was there someone else there? Someone speaking -- shouting -- somewhere -- and though he could sense a presence somewhere in the ever distant darkness he didn't really have time to dwell on that sensation of being watched by more than one set of eyes and the way it set him on every single ledge of an ********!" it'd seemed smart to call out, better to be un-alone and have an answer than to not and drive himself crazy thinking someone else was really there, right? Except the second he opened his mouth he heard it -- felt it -- the reverb of something catching him just at the neck and then skittering off the suffused magic that flared to life in response to the threat on his head and hide. The sound didn't stop just the once though -- it flared up, returned, sliced the very air and seemed to try and trip him up at his heels.

Waru knew he'd have to try his hand at finding that other out-of-view Order type aura later, right now? He had to survive -- and even said a little mantra aimed at hope as he twisted the ancient feeling piece between his fingers and let it roll one more time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your hand!!!!

Leaving to Space 10:
A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand.

Illyria watched as the die finished rolling around before the barrier in front dropped and she move forward with extreme trepidation. If she could recall correctly this fourth square held some horror in it that she'd yet to experience. Upon setting paws in the designated square, Illyria sneezed, and the sneezed again.

"Oh my god, did something die in here?"

It had been meant as a rhetorical question as a way to deal with the overwhelming stench of death and decay but as soon as the words left her lips did Illyria's ears flick back to catch the odd sound of rustling that seemed to be coming from behind her and she actually yowled out in surprise as some bony protrusion of flesh and cartilage almost snagged her tail. Wasting no more thought on the matter Illyria shed her feline form for that of a bipedal one before hurriedly collecting her die and throwing it hard at the ground to get out of this square. Until the barrier dropped did the cat-turned-girl keep a close eye on that moving bit of flesh and bone.

Entering Space 10:

The magic of his collar seemed to ripple as his daunting dash forwards sent him tripping over his own two feet and into nearly neck deep mud. The dice lost to the mire of it all, not even rolled so much as it was chucked from his now fistfulls of ick and the way it coldly clung an sucked at his every attempt to shift out of it. <********!!!" It was fruitlessly clumsy, all his irate noises, the way his shout ended in hacking for the smell. If he believed the night could've gotten worse? And he didn't believe it could get worse, not when the low point was hands and knees and skimming the surroundings for that bead of glow that needed rolling immediately---

Of course no sooner did he think that very same thought than realize the Aura that'd seemed oh so far away was actually close enough to be right the ******** up on him!! His attempt to face it was a drag and squelch of wet dreads weighed heavier and heavier as he eventually stood once more--

"Ohkay! Whose there now! Here now--whah..."

The barrier dropped. Illyria darted forward, lithe and graceful in her bipedal form. Her dress billowed around her as she made up nearly half the distance of the gameboard in just two rolls. It wasn't until she realized the aura that she'd felt before was smack dab in front of her that caused her to cease her headlong dash forward. Perhaps she should have been more cautious, but in all fairness the Mauvian wasn't really concerned with investigating the source of the aura all that much. All that was top of Illyria's mind was getting out of her as fast as she could.

It was on her arrival in her next square that the sense of deja vu overwhelmed her senses, almost as much as the scent overwhelmed her nostrils. Illyria gagged and hunched over before bringing a free hand up to cover her nose only to realize that the ground underneath her feet was beginning to give way. ... Oh ... oh no. She'd been in this square before. She knew what was coming. It was almost by chance that the cat-turned-girl happened to look down at the boggy mess around her form before spotting something that seemed rather out of place in this square: multiple bits of dreadlocks. Reaching down the Mauvian seized one and tugged on it rather hard before trying to discern if whatever these dreadlocks were attached too would mind terribly the reaction it was drawing out from her. Illyria stiffened though as the mire that she was wallowing in continued to pull at her trapped limbs before she tried to use the dreadlock perch as some sort of stepping stone. Perhaps it'd allow her to get to the other side in which she could roll her die and get out of this terrible square.

Dragging her left foot free, Illyria tested the durability of the move before trying to put as much weight down on the strange obstacle as she could, intending to push off of it and break free of the muck.

Still In Space 10: Rolled a 5

Oh--oh--and the bright shiny Order as all get out aura that crept up on him, into his periphery, stepped all over his SPINE!! He knew it, didn't he? Knew this one, knew her? The feel invoked the distant thoughts of orchids, and petals, and princesses and *c a t s*! Rainbow cats that were also girls and wasn't that always a godamned surprise in the order of highest surprises! Where it ranked 'cats who were people who weren't actually cats that weren't actually people', and then fell some many tiers below to 'regular dudes who ran 7'11's'.

It was all very confusing, really. In the surprising sorta sense.

"OW! I'm not a rope bridge yanno!! Holy mother of sharp-a**-heels-kippn!!" because between the errant tugging on his overlong locs and the feel of sharp as cat-claws heels over his personage, and he did have to swipe and scrape the muck further offa his own face, outta his eyes, just to be sure his senses weren't lying to him as they were want to do in such a place as this. Kippn might've been wrong -- it was hard to tell when all he could get was fleeting glimpses of dress and curls and the incessant tug of the nasty a** quick-bog trying to swallow him whole.

If he got outta this alive?

If they got outta this alive!!

"If we survive this you're so gonna owe me---" the words grouched into slurry and spat free, while his own scramble of fingers finally clutched the small pebble sharp bit of dice. He was saying so many prayers to someone -- even as he yanking his elbow deep arm free of snug sand, and hastily rolling the damn thing.

He dreaded what it'd land on next -- what space it'd spit him out into -- but almost more importantly than that? He worried for the girl trying to drown him beneath her own slight weight, like he was no more n a log to scramble across -- "If you're gonna roll it's your chance--" because he was chaos, sure as black holes ate stars, but he wasn't evil!! So he pleaded with the mostly famliar chicklet to get her furry girl groove on and *move it* before they both ended up sucked down into the never-gonna-give-you-up zone!

Illyria hadn't expected the obstacle beneath her to suddenly speak. She gave the slightest sounds of surprise before hastily clearing the swampy ground before staring down at the one that she'd inadvertently used as a rope bridge, as it was adequately described as. Her gaze narrowed but for a moment before she huffed and clutched her die tightly to her chest. She wasn't even sure why she bothered looking around for anything that could be used as a way to pull the young man from the mud that was still trying to pull him down further. It was clear that the chaos aura belonged to him and would others approved if she tried to lend a hand here?

Figuring it'd be a secret if anything, Illyria knelt over the edge of the muddy pit before reaching out a hand, "I can try and help you get to the edge at least. And I'm sorry I didn't realize you weren't just a conveniently placed stepping stone."

Even as she waited to see if her offer would be accepted did Illyria make sure that she was careful of where she placed her other hand to balance herself as she leaned over. It'd not do any good to fall back in. Even as she thought this did the cat-turned-girl flick her dice away in an effort to get out of here sooner. But she'd help this unfortunate soul first if they needed it.

Entering Space 15: BATS!!

Bats. Maybe you missed them attacking earlier, but they’re back again, and angrier than ever. Instead of just screeching or scratching, they’re swooping down and biting now–and the effects are instantaneous. The little teeth are sharp and painful, but once bitten you might feel agitated and prone to violence, and you might feel perpetually cold and hungry with no relief in sight. The effects might last when you leave the square–or they might linger for a few hours or days after you get out of here.

Albite heard the rough chiding and cackled something garbled and messy in response, felt her narrow little tip-toe-tightrope across him and through to the other side. Whatever aid she offered at the end, a gracious thing, he took it, wrapped round it, tied himself the hell up with it grasping hands and muddy dreads and all!!

And as he reached the other side he couldn’t even begin to utter a thank you before he realized he was being thrust forwards somewhere else — somewhere new and far far far the hell away from the girl — but not from his newest enemy.

Bats, why did it have to be bats!!

'Let the ******** eat mud--' the thought a long and rolling one that included indecent images of bats dying by the dozens, choking on the soggy sediment that seemed to seep outta his very pores. He'd be de-sanding himself for a godamned week!! The agitation was only heightened when one struck here, missed there, got tangled up and ohhh how their nasty little claws and teeth made him snarl -- made that snarl a silly thing for the teeth-chattering cold that ebbed into him.

He'd never been happier than to pelt one of the suckers between the eyes with a bit of glow -- and howl for how he was spat near enough the exit to deem it a recognizable thing..

"s**t--but what about the girl!?"

Illyria wasn't so sure about this newest trip through the world of the game board. Her gaze locked on the silhouette of the one that she was running this gauntlet with before he seemed to stop in a square and immediately be descended on by bats. Oooh, Illyria remembered those things from last year and almost as quickly as she could, ran past the chaos-senshi before being stopped in the square ahead. Her ears flicked cautiously as the sound of cracking ice sounded below her feet and suddenly she let out a yelp as she was plunged into what seemed to be a body of frozen water. Illyria's struggled not to inhale but the water was so very cold.

Gasping once did the Mauvian find herself swallowing a mouthful of the freezing cold liquid before she kicked for the surface. Her human hands and feet helped her here, but her dress was becoming severely water-logged and dragging her down just as much as she was frantically clawing her way towards the surface. Almost as soon as it felt that her lungs were going to give out did Illyria break the surface and throw her die onto the large chunk of ice that she was able to grab a hold of. The lingering coldness of this impromptu ice-bath would have to be dealt with as soon as she got away from this dimension.

As soon as she crawled out of the water did the barrier drop down, allowing her to pass into the next square before she was stopped again.

ENTERING SPACE 19 THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!

You’re so close! Almost at the end! But the space you’re standing on shifts and shakes and seems to crumble beneath you. You have to hold on; there’s nowhere to fall but down into the deep abyss. If you manage to hang on for long enough, you find some invisible purchase and can pull yourself back up, but it’s quite the ordeal. Make sure you don’t get cut on falling spaces! The ground restores itself once you roll again.

Not that he had time to worry much about her when his own fate was rapidly falling away beneath his own grit filled footsteps. The tread tucked full, his attention spared briefly at the distant sounds and scene of darkness behind him -- until everything began to give way, and gravity yanked his a** into nearly stumbling onto it.

It felt like a slow motion slog, slower than the bog crawl, the way everything hyper focused as he twisted on a heel and moved the ******** on -- long legged steps -- full tilt ahead, he was sure he ******** pulled something in the mad dash towards the furthermost ledge that felt ten thousand miles away right now.

It was instinct to throw the damn dice -- and the results? Blinding! To pop out of abject darkness and slide into brilliant light and irritatingly found himself to still be wondering about the damn girl! It'd be fine, if she died back there, right? That was how this all worked, always! RIGHT!? Except for the fact that he hated the stupid dice, and it's master, and its castor and whoever the hell it was that sent the evil bauble down to haunt him every Halloween season for the last two!!

No one deserved this fate, not even his maybe sorta kinda supposed enemy. So albite said ******** the dice, and waited on scraped knees with a building eagerness he had hardly any idea what to do with --- as his own explosive magic snarled and snaked out like energy contained too long in too small a form----

Just for any sight of her, to see if she fell to her demise, to help her make it!! And screw the dice one final time....

The howling that was in the distance didn't register at first to Illyria. She was trying her best to rub warmth back into her frozen limbs. She sneezed once before eyeing the voluminous folds of her dress before going back to her feline form. As much fun as it would have been to stay human, somehow Illyria felt as if she needed to return to her smaller form. Almost as soon as she was back on four paws did she sense that she was no longer alone. Bending down to pick up the die in her mouth Illyria spun around, glancing, hoping that the other senshi would show up but no one else seemed to be coming to aid her. Her eyes glinted with determination that with whatever was out there, they'd get a taste of her claws. One opponent didn't frighten her.

And then more howls sounded.

Illyria's entire body tensed up and she spun her small frame around to catch sight of something that was lurking just out of identifiable view. But the vibrations that resonated up her paws spoke of a large volume of opponents that all seemed to be baring down on her position. Illyria knew better to attempt out running whatever it was that was doing all the howling and stalking her from the shadows, but she needed to do something besides just freezing in place. A pair of yellow orbs glistened in the scant light and Illyria raced forward, using the glowing orbs as a marker ... something to guide her claws to latch onto. Her claws flashed out as she came to an abrupt stop and something whimpered before snarling even louder. Ducking down did the small cat avoid the retaliatory strike for the most part but something struck her with enough force that the die shot out of her mouth and she was off. She raced forward, scooped the die up before racing out of the square to wherever it was that she was supposed to go next.

SITTING NEAR THE LIGHT AT SPACE 20!
The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best. However...if you have already acquired a die from last year, or if you are unlucky enough to encounter the gameboard twice this year, you may notice that the opalescent fissures of the dice glow when close to each other. There's no telling what this might mean, but you'd best be safe about it.

And maybe that was her -- that distant shape -- the way it skittered closer -- the sound of another person!!

"C'mon little claw-stepper! Exits right over here!!" shouting into the nothing, into the all encompassing vastness of it for what little he could see with the light blinding out everything at his backside. Still, he stood and hollered -- readiness building, building, building until it flowed over ---

"M'not getting outta here alone, we'll go together. No ones dying to these godamned dice!"

His magic poised for the first glimpse of eyes, heels, ears? Were there ears? Had she been a cat? Was he seeing things!? WAS HE SAVING A CAT TODAY!!

The barrier dropped and Illyria scurried towards the ending platform of the pathway, praying fervently that there'd be no more barriers separating her and the goal that was in sight. Almost breathlessly did she flop onto the ending platform. Boneless and just a little tired. After she'd shed her human form in the last square she had been trapped in all she wanted to do was to get rid of this evil die once more.

Even as she regained her wind did Illyria note with some uncertainty that the chaos senshi that she'd been trapped in here with had waited for her to make it to the end. Her gaze narrowed on the various scrapes and bruises he'd suffered before feeling her own mishaps and she struggled to her feet. The opalescent light that was shining around them was beautiful, but from Illyria's perspective, it was as deceitful as the die's beauty was. That light harbored nothing but ill will towards anyone and she sniffed before sneezing violently.

"The sooner we get outta here, the better."

Maybe she'd even have a chat with this one, ... because sure enough her fur fluffed out in remembrance of who this particular chaos senshi was.
