Seiong had never seen herself as an adventurer. She would never have guessed she would travel on her own. Traveling anywhere outside of the route between Chibale and Chuime hadn’t been even in the realm of possibility. When she decided on taking the trip to visit the seeds of Aisha, she hadn’t had the reservations that she had expected would come. It felt necessary in her journey as an Aishan.

Now, she was wondering why she hadn’t just stayed home. She had gotten off the boat on Yael with a small group heading to Zinris, but she had lost track of them at least an hour ago in the dense, foggy forest. After wandering for a while in her attempt to find the group, she stopped to sit and snacked on some dried fruit. One of the first rules of getting lost was to not move. Someone would notice she wasn’t with the group anymore… Surely. “Of course I got us lost,” she grumbled morosely with a glance to her little companion.

Tutu the duruf panted with exertion in the heavy Yeali air, but gave Seiong his usual dopey grin. He was just pleased to be off of that boat!

Imri had never once in his life thought he would leave Yael. His entire world had been comprised of Zinris, the wilds surrounding it and the little earthling villages he'd visited over the years with Lucijah. He'd never even traveled across the entire island let alone contemplated what life would be like off it, and now...now his entire life was able to change.

As of tomorrow, once the sun broke over the sea, his family would officially be moving. It was a bittersweet moment that left the hybrid wandering through the fog one last time. No longer would he be able to hide, to shrink away and live his life how he wanted...but maybe that was a good thing?

Pausing for a moment, the hybrid crouched down to stay out of sight as footsteps grew closer. He stayed as still as a keldari, leveling his breath to remain hidden, but what came upon him wasn't anything he'd ever seen before. It was an Aishan, but off. Colored like vines with eyes bright like an infection. He stared for a while, just taking in the sight, until a wheezing sort of creature at her feet caught his attention.

Goddess was it dying?

He crept a little closer, one hand slowly reaching for the hilt of his sword just in case.

How long would she have to wait? What if they never came looking? What if it was like Chibale and they had lost her on purpose?! She sighed and gently slapped her cheeks to clear her mind. "That sort of thinking won't do me any good." She reached down to bury her fingers into Tutu's mane and give him some encouraging petting. "We'll wait just a little. They'll come back."

Tutu gave a soft chuff of pleasure with the attention, but then his tiny ears perked up to alert. He pranced a few steps on his stocky legs toward a presence approaching him and his precious master. His lip lifted in a low growl of warning at the underbrush.

Seiong stood up quickly when Tutu suddenly started growling. Was the wait already over? Great! "Tutu, hush please. Hello? Letirru? Shena? I'm over here!"

He'd heard stories from the yaeli about creatures that took the form of something familiar but twisted it. The longer Imri looked at this thing the more he was sure it was a shape changer. Some spirit of the wilds that had come out to attack him. Curling his lip back in a snarl, the Elarian hybrid quietly unsheathed one of his blades and started to move closer.

The growling abomination did nothing other than strengthen his resolve. It had to perish! As he stepped out of the brush, Imri began to unsheath his other sword. "Call out to whoever you want, they won't come. You and that thing won't be luring anyone else into your trap."

Seiong stood on her toes as she craned her head around in an attempt to peer through the foliage. Ah! Someone was there! She grinned brightly with relief... but then she saw the blade and the threatening posture. Her eyes widened and she took a step back from the imposing figure. "Trap? What do you mean?" 'Thing?!' She looked around for some other looming creature the stranger might have been referring to. Were there others hiding in the forest? "Y-you don't need the sword. Really!"

Tutu braced himself in front of Seiong and growled louder. He chipped in with a few yappy barks that surely undermined any threatening visage he might have managed a moment ago.

Imri clucked his tongue and sucked on a hiss. "Save the naivete for someone who cares." She looked terrified and the hybrid relished in it. The longer he was able to hold this power dynamic the better. It would make slaying the beast all the easier.

And then the beast started to growl and....Imri couldn't hide his look of pure disgust. "Why is it squeaking like that? What did you do to it? It's face is malformed." What kind of beast had it been before this creature got her hands on it? Surely it must have looked more intimidating than this to act that way. If he were merciful he would end it now, but...a part of Imri was too stunned to really do much.

Seiong raised one hand cautiously. "Someone.. yeah, I have a lot of someones who care. About me. So, they'd be mad if.. if you hurt me." Would saying that help deter the threat? Oh.. she should have just had someone in her family come along. Odina would have knocked this jerk on their backside in no time at all. Their mothers certainly wouldn't show any fear. Why had she felt the need to do this on her own?

The string of questions took a moment to register in her mind. With a blink of confusion, she dared a look down at Tutu and frowned. Malformed?! "Hey, he's no such thing! He's a duruf. They all look like this." Scared or not, she wasn't going to simply take someone insulting her precious pet!

With his larger front paws braced, each of Tutu's yips was accompanied with an agitated bounce of his stubby backend. Tutu didn't usually bark much though. Between the use and the strange air he was breathing, the duruf had to pause to clear his throat, head shaking and mane ruffling out with each forceful sneeze.

As soon as she raised a hand Imri's sword arm raised once more toward her. "Hand. Down." He knew magic; enough of it, anyway. He'd seen a magic user summon fire with their hand before and spirits could use magic so just because she wasn't armed didn't mean she wouldn't incinerate him.

"Even their name sounds cursed." Duruf? Sounded like something that got caught in the back of his throat when he was sick. And, as if on cue, the mangled thing seemed to choke on air before sneezing. "This thing is suffering but you let it live? It would be a mercy to it to rest."

With her hand obediently back at her side, Seiong still managed to pout her lip out on her poor pup's behalf. "I would never let Tutu suffer. The air here is just so thick and-" 'Rest.' While an actual rest would make sense, she could tell what sort of rest this stranger was meaning. Her body tensed defensively and she slid a foot over toward the duruf. "Don't you hurt him." Her hand patted her thigh twice in command to the duruf.

Sensing his master's growing agitation, Tutu gave his body one more shake to clear his head. The familiar pat of his master's leg caught his attention, and he turned to walk toward Seiong in response to her command, his eyes never leaving the threat as he moved. Thankfully, the path was clear enough that he was soon pressed against Seiong's leg and growled firmly again.

"It cannot breath." Imri motioned toward the duruf with all the patience of someone speaking to a toddler. "What sort of person would think a peaceful end is better than suffocation?" Even the way it moved disturbed Imri. It's chest was bigger than it's back end and while the curl of it's tail was admittedly cute there was just something about that face. As soon as it turned around whatever charm it may have had was instantly gone.

"Why are you here, spirit? Who summoned you and why are you doing this?"

Seiong couldn't help a wince. Tutu really did sound rough, but circumstances being what they were... "We only just got here. He's still adjusting to this thick air; and so am I. Besides, you're scaring him and getting him all worked up." The other's question belatedly registered, and she couldn't help a very slight c**k of her head. Spirit? "Did you just..? Please, wait. Don't you know about the Vandrea?" Azehra, why hadn't anyone else come looking for her yet?!

Tutu yapped a couple times as though confirming what Seiong was saying before he had to pause again to pant from the exertion and sneezed again.

"If I'm scaring him it's only because you've convinced him that anyone with morals is something to fear." Only just got here? So this spirit hadn't had the chance to infect anything else. Which meant, logically, that if Imri could destroy it right here and now then his home would be spared.

Until...it spoke a familiar word. This time it was Imri's turn to c**k his head, but his was followed with a scrunch of the brow. He knew of Vandrea because of conversations with the sisters, same as he knew the Elidae. "Is that what you claim to be? A Vandrea?"

Seiong could hardly believe her ears! "Morals? You're the one walking around pointing weapons at strangers for no reason and threatening their pets. That's just mean!" Though her voice was stronger, her physical demeanor remained wary. After all, the threat was still very present... "I am a Vandrea. From Chiume. Are you.. a cousin?" Something looked off about her aggressor, but it wasn't as though she could get closer to see exactly why yet.

Imri clicked his tongue. Mean?! What did it matter if he was abrasive or kind? Would that stop her from being an unearthly creature sent from whatever underworld she'd crawled out of to deform creatures of their world? No, it wouldn't!

"What proof do you have that you're a Vandrea? Give me a reason to believe you are what you say you are." Anyone could claim to be anything, but so long as she stood there, an apparition before him, Imri would keep his guard up. Even the way she hesitated on saying cousin annoyed him. Was she implying that he was less than, just because he was male? Could she see underneath his hood? It wasn't as if forcing himself to appear more 'feminine' had stopped his body from changing, nor had it stopped his voice from deepening.

Seiong was getting nervous again. "What do you mean? I.. I'm just me. I can't exactly take you to Chiume to meet my mothers." She looked down at Tutu as the little critter gave another body-rattling sneeze, and her frown deepened. "I came here with Alkidike from Chibale. I got separated from them, but they can confirm they met me on Chibale. They were helping me get to Zinris. ..I need to get Tutu there so he can rest."

Sensing the shift in his master, Tutu chuffed heavily and sat down to let his squat little legs rest. He leaned against Seiong's leg and panted heavily, his dark eyes never leaving Imri's cloaked figure.
