The sun was settling against the horizon as Beowulf wandered the forests around Yael. It was his home after all and it still held many secrets. Stepping through bush and fern the shadows had grown longer since he had entered the trees. Extracting a small sphere from a pouch that hung over a shoulder, he cast a bit of light into the clear object. The glow brightened until the trees and bushes about were illuminated like the sun were still shining. Tightening his grip on the book that was also hanging from a shoulder, the Yaeli continued walking. He had certainly taken an off the path trail.

Dressed in a simple shirt and pants, his murky purple hair in is common messy fashion. Even if he combed it, it would always end up messy again with how many times he'd run his hand through it. Pale glowing eyes searched the fringes of the light for anything interesting.. It wasn't too long before the hints of drying blood caught his attention.

"Did someone get attacked out here?" he wondered out loud as he turned to follow the blood. Feathers were something else that littered the ground "What happened out here? Something was on the losing end of all this..."

He progressed on before spotting something feathered on the ground. It looked like a fairly large bird, moving over to it he checked to see if the bird was still living. With how lifeless it was he wasn't sure, animal health wasn't something he had trained in. Standing up once again he glanced around the battlefield. Something else was laying on the ground. Squinting and lifting his glass in an attempt to see better, he hurried over to the other object laying on the ground...

Feathers blew away from the birds lifeless form. Some brushing against Aselia who lay motionless on the ground several paces away. Her breathing was shallow and quick, the odd muttering escaped Aselia's lips. The knife that had been plunged into her shoulder was still there. Finally rousing at the sound of footfalls not far away from her, the alkidike struggled to move. Her body weak from the fight she had been in with the two hybrids. Trying to speak, all that could escape the woman was a series of groans. Her mouth felt pasty, dry, uncomfortable. Parts of her itched from the places were mud and blood had dried on her skin.

Beowulf stepped carefully over towards the other object laying on the ground, as he drew closer he noticed that it was a person. An Alk for that matter, frowning Beowulf moved the light further out to see who it was. The clothing and features seemed familiar to him. Resting the glowing orb in the crook of a branch that let said light shine from above he kneed down beside the woman.

"What have you gotten yourself into to.." He muttered examining the woman, noting that she was bound at the wrist and ankle. Then there was the dagger in her shoulder. That was going to be a problem. "A very bad spot to be just passed out."

Saying that he looked around, the creatures that roamed the night were starting to awaken. The light from his crystal was going to keep the more wary away. But the braver were going to come sniffing and the scent of blood was going to cause a frenzy. Brow twitching, Beowulf shrugged off his pack and rummaged a bit to find something. Pulling out a long strip of cloth and something that looked like a green slime from his pack he turned back to the woman.

"Not sure if you can hear me, but this might hurt." He cautioned the unconscious woman as he reached to pull the dagger from her shoulder.

He braced the shoulder to the ground as he pulled, when it would come free, he uncorked the vial of green slime and emptied it against the wound. The poultice was one made of many herbs around the area to help stop bleeding and the spread of infection... Only thing was, that it was likely to burn and sting like hell when first applied. Moving quickly, Beowulf took the cloth and made haste to wrap the wound, hoping nothing was drawn to their location.

Aselia wasn't very aware of her surroundings. With the loss of blood from the dagger and the struggle she had been putting up with against the bindings left behind from Lynxdaroch, she was too weak to resist or fight anything that came her way. So she wasn't aware of the earthlings approach, she was however very aware of the feel of the dagger being ripped from her shoulder.

A shriek of agonizing pain ripped through the air. Aselia could feel the pain all the way down her arm and deep into her back. There was nothing she could do being bound as she was. Part of her wanted to spin around and bite down into whatever was causing the pain. The cold liquid stung and burned only fueling Aselia's scream. Tangible words formed in the Aishain language, though the mystic remained laying where she was. The pain had consumed her once again, robbing her of her consciousness.

Beowulf yelped as the Alk started to, flail in pain. He covered his sensitive years until they fell back into unconsciousness. When the sounds stopped he looked around at the area. That was sure to draw in any other animals that were wary. Not that the smell of blood wasn't enough of a lure as it was.

"That surely just attracted everything with the closest mile." Beowulf muttered as he picked up the dagger and wrapped it in another piece of cloth and stowed it in his pack. "I need to get you out of here before everything starts moving in."

Picking up everything that he had pulled out to use, he turned towards the poor bird that was still laying on the ground. He was sad that he couldn't save it as well, but he was going to have a time carrying one as it was. Shouldering his pack, Beowulf looked at the Alk before glancing around again. The sounds in the jungle were coming to life. The larger animals were moving closer.

"Yep, it is time to leave." Beowulf said nodding to himself as he moved to hoist the injured onto his back.

The Yaeli has been a little on the scrawny side, so he struggled to lift the Alk woman. Staggering for a moment, he reached over to pick up the glowing orb from where he had left it. Placing it where he could still use it for light, Beowulf hurried the best he could into the jungle. It didn't take too long to get back to his own place. Only problem was... It was up..

"I didn't think about this bit." he muttered glancing over his shoulder. What was the worst that could happen?

Taking out another rope, he attempted to tie the Alk to his back so that his hands were free to climb. At the moment he was wondering why he had built his home so high. It took a few minutes before he thought he was ready and started to ascend the rope ladder that lead upwards. That took a bit more time, the swinging didn't help matters as he tried to keep balanced. Finally he made it to the landing and inside. Here he put the woman on his own bed, after undoing all ropes that had bound her. Even those he had found her tied up with.

"That was exhausting, but we are safe. More or less.." It was a relief that he had made it back safely, the jungle was very much alive with things that were following him. Just waiting for a chance to strike. "You rest there, I will rest over here." With that, Beowulf flopped in a chair and promptly dozed off. Nothing bad could happen now... Right?

A strong pounding in Aselia's head eventually woke her. The pressure building inside her head felt as if it was trying to escape through her eyes. The spinning room wasn't helping matters, making wanting to open her eyes even harder. Goaning in agony Aselia attempted to raise her good arm to her head. Hoping the cool temperature would ease some of the ache. It did, if only a fraction.

It took a moment before the mystic realised her hands were no longer bound together. Still, she feared opening her eyes would worsen the throbbing pain in her head. Shifting her legs to see if they too had been released, Aselia relaxed a her feet slid along the clean fabric.

The scent around her was not of Shiari or Dira's healing. She should know, she was helping to watch over the growing Mystics. She was in somewhere unfamiliar, mentally noting to thank whichever sister was helping her. A sudden urge to get up and move was met by a consuming pain in her arm. Aselia opened her mouth in a supressed, silent, scream. Pain shot through her arm localizing in her shoulder, just below her elbow, and the back of her hand. Keeping her rigid in place. Any sudden movement would reignite the agony, not just in her arm but in her head.

"That's hybrid is going to pay dearly if I ever catch him." Aselia snarled under her heavy breathing. "I need water, please."

He was nearly falling out of the chair that he had flopped within the night before. The rustling of bed linens and the soft sounds of another in the same space made him wake with a start. Adjusting his glasses, Beowulf looked around the brightly lit interior of his tree bound home. "What's happenings?" came a confused and still slightly groggy mutter.

There was the voice that came from his own bed, looking over in that direction it dawned on him. The events in the night, the finding of someone wounded and bound in the jungle. Rubbing his face with the heels of his hands before running his fingers through badly tangled hair. Why did he bring the person here? What was he really thinking. Dully glowing eyes glanced back over towards the Alk that laid in his bed, they mentioned something about getting a hybrid back? Shaking his head, Beowulf pulled himself up from the chair.

"Hold on, hold on." He said stretching, his lower back snapping loudly back into place. That was the last time he would sleep in that chair. The request for water drew him over to a basin that he kept at the ready. Pouring some into a cup, Beowulf stepped back over to the woman and reached out to help her sit up.

"Here." he said simply, holding the cut where she could drink from it.

A pounding head and an extremely painful arm, Aselia wasn't able to move fast or far. "Dira, is that you?" The mystic muttered hissing with pain each time her arm shifted. No good, she thought to herself. Attempting to squeeze the areas radiating the most pain, to no avail. The sound of someone speaking was not feminine as she had expected, but somewhat masculine in nature.

Hissing with the shooting pain In her arm, Aselia made several futile attempts to reposition herself on the bed. Realisation slowly setting in that she was not with the other Mystics. She was resting in an earthlings bed. Revulsion twisted her stomach, mixing with the pain forcing whatever contents remained in her stomach, out.

The offer of water made her painfully recoil. Staring at the Yaeli with distrust and disgust. Her eyes on the offered water. Aselia found herself caught between the desperation for fluids to rehydrate herself, and the repulsion of it being offered from an earthing. She contemplated kicking his hand away from her, to launch an assault on the man and take his belongings. The results of recent events held her back.

Growling at the complexity of the situation it took what felt like the good part of an hour before Aselia had finally caved. Snatching up the cup and downing the fluids within. "If it's poisoned, crystal crawler, Mark my words you'll die with me."

The room around them was a clean one, for a single person living there. A small table and chair in one corner, the bed was against the back wall across from the door that lead outside. On the table was a thick volume that looked like it had been opened to a choppy drawing of a dragon like creature. It's red scales vibrant against the creamy colored pages. Hanging from the rafters above were an assortment of herbs and other plants. Shelves littered with bottles of other healing things... It was hard to tell what was in most them. The window that was above the bed was open to let a warm breeze wash into the room.

Beowulf blinked at the woman as she mentioned someone's name. Dira? This wasn't someone he knew, then again he didn't know too many outside the village he lived within. "Sorry I don't know who that is." he commented before she started hissing at him.

Beowulf wasn't sure if the hissing was from the pain, something he had done or even something he might have said. But the comments about the water being poisoned? "It is no more poisoned then you are bound like I had found you in the jungle below."

He didn't move from where he was, though half tempted to not support the woman and walk away. It was a temptation. "In any case, I need to change the bandage on your shoulder. It was pretty nasty looking in the small light I had. Now that it is brighter.." he said looking at the bandage that was assuredly dark with blood and needed changing.

"Keep her name out of your filthy mouth." Aselia snarled, "that child is too sacred for the likes of you to think of speaking." At the mention of bindings Aselia bristled further. "You even let that blood thirsty Oban leave!? Figures, you crystal crawlers are all like that."

Hissing again at the pain in her shoulder, the mystic relinquished her hold in the cup. The sound of the empty object hitting the cloth, rolling towards the edge of the bed, falling to the ground with a clonk before continuing its journey towards the wall. She had to admit she was grateful to be free of those bindings. She had never felt so helpless in her life, and she was resolved never to feel that way again.

"Where's my bird Popoie." Aselia pressed snapping her head in Beowulfs general direction. If she hadn't been so full of rage, she would have noticed the familiarity of the boy helping her.

The sudden jerking motion forced a whimpering cry from the Alkidike. Her brows furrowed together at the mention of her shoulder wound being wrapped. Mixed feelings on the matter battled within her. A hybrid had been the cause of the injury, and yet this individual was doing the opposite.

"And what is it you're expecting in return?" Aselia questioned abruptly. The fingers of her good arm slowly crawled towards the bandages, as if to check they were really there. She could feel the pull of dried blood around the edges of her wound, cautigorized by a thin fabric. The wound as it appeared had gone right through her shoulder. The type of wound only a healer would manage to handle properly.

She made no indication she was accepting of his approach to check her wounds. She also wasn't arguing it either, the woman was too busy struggling with her own hot headed pride. She should be with the other Mystics, not this fool.

Beowulf let the woman do things on her own terms. He did watch as the cup roll away from the bed once it was emptied. Rolling his eyes he turned away from her to reach down and pick it up. Along the way he lit a stout light lavender candle that was also on the table. The sweet scent one that had been mentioned to give off a calming vibe.

"Oh Lurin forbid." Beowulf said as he pinched the bridge of his nose before adjusting his glasses. "You were the one who said the name first. I don't know who that is, if I did I could have fetched them." This was a bit aggrovating, then again she had been injured, tied up and left to die in the middle of the jungle. He supposed he would be just as furious. "Oban? You were alone, I didn't see anyone else." He paused a moment. "Bird? I am afraid that it wasn't living when I found you."

Well it hadn't looked like it was living. The bird's body appeared lifeless and he couldn't carry them both back... So as far as he knew, the bird was likely some scavenger's meal. Unless someone else had found it and managed to save or revive the bird. He wasn't too sure.

"Now will you let me at least change the bandage before that wound gets infected? I doubt you would like to lose the limb or even your life to something preventable." Beowulf busied himself getting clean cloth and some other herbs to add to the bandage to help with healing. "You do have someone to get back at and I doubt having one arm will get you too far."

Continuing to eye the earthling, Aselia watched him move about. His mention of the passing of her beloved Kinfa was at first hard to process. That hybrid, her body guard and the creature with them were going to be hunted. Even if she had to hire others to do so, she would seek a way to put misery in their pathetic lives. The rage burned within her, gripping her injured arm as tight as she could against the anger. Deep breaths to keep her body rigid and in place. She would need her self control right now, since any form of movement from her mid back upwards would exacerbate the issue in her shoulder. Eventually Aselia caved, and a few tears slipped from her face, her shoulders very slowly sinking forward.

She may not have openly displayed her adoration of the creature, but it was her own. "I see." Was all she could muster in response to the news of the death of Popoie. It was not a sacrifice she wanted to see happen. "Whatever boy." Aselia muttered. Very slowly turning to her body in a speed that would allow without ripping open the fabric keeping her wounds from bleeding out.

Dropping her good arm away from her bad one, Aselia turned to hide her face away. Her voice breaking as she spoke, "the hybrid Teiluj and her dirty companion will suffer for this." A few more tears slid down in secret.

Beowulf glanced over towards the woman as it seemed that she had gone into a type of shock with the mention that her companion didn't make it. He didn't really know the feeling of that type of lose so he couldn't completely sympathize. But the sadness that was filling the room could be considered overwhelming to those sensitive to emotions. "I am sorry I could not do more." he said before grinding a few herb leaves together in a bowl to add to a sticky paste.

At the moment he wished he could have arrived sooner, he might have been able to have done more. Perhaps save the bird that had been left as scavenger meat. Shaking his head, Beowulf picking up the bowl, bandages and a small knife to walk over to the woman. He put the bowl and bandages down on a small side table before taking the knife to cut away the soiled cloth.

Peeling the bandage away as carefully as he could, he stepped away to grab a wet cloth to clean away whatever dirt and poultice was left from the night before. He felt her shake as it seemed that she was weeping? For the time being he remained quiet as he worked, not wanting to make things worse.

Grinding her teeth and focusing on her breathing Aselia remained as still as she could. Tightly gripping the fabric of the sheets near her ankles. The odd sniffles from her tears, mixed with whimpers and hissing in pain. This was the least ideal situation she could have found herself in. Degrading herself to the help of an earthling just to survive, made her feel just as low as the death of her companion. She remained quiet, afraid that if she spoke now her sadness would consume her. Showing just how weak she really was. Her pride would not allow her to show any weakness of the sort.

Turning a stiff upper lip as Beowulf worked she turned her head to the book near the bed. Distracting herself with the contents that had been drawn upon it. That looked like the strange beast she had tracked down while in search of the Surahama. "You, did you fight that thing too?" A momentary distraction, the Alkidike pointed towards the book. "Have you seen the Surahama by chance?"

There was a bit of intrigue in the Alkidike now, wondering if he too chased after the rare mythical creatures found through the land.

Beowulf worked at cleaning her wound, his hands holding a coolness to them as he held onto her arm while doing so. That coolness perhaps soothing the pain in waves as his magic seeped from his skin to hers. Looking up he looked at the drawing he had done on the back of a merchants wagon. "The Vryhx? I was there, I didn't get too close to it. But I tried my best to help those who charged forward." The cave hadn't been the brightest even with the lava all around and the light spell being cast. "It still kicked my backside with its fiery breath and the explosion it caused before disappearing."

He glanced back down at his work as he put the cloth aside to scoop up some of the paste he had created. Smearing it across the wound that still wept blood, he hoped that this would help aid in the clotting and speed up the healing. This paste wasn't like the poultice that had been applied before. This one had a cooling effect to it, perhaps did sting a little, but didn't burn as if set on fire. Perhaps more like sinking into a cool river in the heat of summer.

"Surahama? Can't say that I have heard of a creature called that." He took on the look of pondering and curiosity. "Is that a creature that lives here on Yael? Or on the mainland?"
